  1. There's a big difference between something being convenient and not having a choice. I'm not here to criticise others' choices, I merely served to debunk the suggestion that it was an imperative rather than an option.
  2. I did realise that it was just a portal, but there seemed to be some sense in what he was saying. I could of course be very gullible. Off to snopes for me...
  3. > I've had the time of my life NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo That's SO tacky!!!! Where does "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" fit in the chart?
  4. Really loud Lambchop!!
  5. John Smith eh? Innnnteresting.
  6. > "don't have a choice" I've done fine without a car for my 13 years in this fair city. If I was back out in the sticks it'd be another matter, but don't buy that guff in London. I'm with *Bob* lets attempt to increase provision for cars in London and while we're at it lets add another 2 lanes to the M25, just for good measure. They won't reach saturation for at least 2 weeks, another 20 billion well spent.
  7. I think it was Spadetownboy who recommended it, but cheers. Could do with a martini about now! nice one DC. I got Rachel Unthank and the Winterset not so long ago, and they do a fantastic cover of River Man, worth checking out. PM me your email if you want an MP3 of it, strictly for evaluation purposes of course ;)
  8. Aah, the earworm returns. It has to be one of the most covered songs of all time and for good measure here's that cute version. Aaaanayway, back to dying... "I do my crying in the rain" would be a good one if I pop my clogs this summer.
  9. And as first posts go!! Hats off to you Mr Carnell.
  10. > I've just thought "Do You Realize?" by the Lips might be a good choice too Good call MacGabhann!
  11. Snoop dogg doing Riders on the Storm Quite funky as it goes.
  12. I always thought Stone Roses - I am the resurrection would be sort of funny and egomaniacal at the same time. I did have a mate who managed to get himself killed in his car, he was always a bit of a nutter behind the wheel. His parents asked us to suggest a piece of music he really liked for the funeral. We pondered for ages, hovering between Muddy Waters, or Booker T's Soul Limbo (too upbeat really) among others. In the end we plumped for some Doors, and went with Riders on the Storm. Of course everyone blanched as Jim Morrison launched into the line: "There's a killer on the road" Doh!!!
  13. Perhaps a little too downbeat for a first dance, but it'd be very me if I did. The National - Sons and Daughters of the SoHo Riots
  14. I think I just stopped caring basically!!!! fwiw, I've been pondering on some JC (the proper one, Johnny Cash), possibly something soppy like "The One Rose"
  15. Aaah, the Bordello This is the first morning I've not needed to wear a jacket (not a purple one) for ages, sooooo My Morning Jacket - Wordless Chorus
  16. A friend of mine went with 'Lighthouse Family - Lifted'. I've strongly considered never talking to him again!!
  17. Yes, sociopathic moral absolutists with a penchant for brutality. Cooool!! Hmm, maybe I should have been a catholic priest?
  18. Top Ten Heroes Dangermouse Cerebus The Aardvark Hannibal (from the A-team, not CWALD's dog) Bananaman Michael Knight (yeah, I didn't get irony as well back then) Mr Ben Rorschach Dougal Roooooobin, the hooded man Harold Meeker
  19. I did realise, it was more LTP's "Sadly you're right" that prompted me. But then he has self-confessedly 'lost the plot' ;) Of course the more fashion conscious dulwichmum type, feeling a little unsafe on public transport, may consider this stylish handbag.
  20. *ahem* ok, 5 years old, but still. "In the last year for which statistics are available there were nearly 1,000 murders in Johannesburg - a murder rate some 16 times higher than London. There were also over 15,000 house burglaries and nearly 8,000 serious assaults." http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/3096829.stm
  21. * puts on all the lava lamps, dims the lights, puts on some classic curry house music and ushers in cute swedish masseuse in Keef's direction * * pours a slug of sambucca and passes it to keef * * what the hey, pours another slug and knocks it back *
  22. There may be some Richard Briers and Felicity Kendall types in the area. Surprised they haven't posted any missing pig posts. Of course more likely to have been eaten by people than foxes.
  23. "I've just completed gran turismo on the hardest setting" great stuff, haven't heard it for ages. As soon as this started I had a proustian memory moment, though in my case instead of my lost childhood I mostly remembered playing Serious Sam and drinking too much at the CPT!!
  24. Or the beast of Bodmin Moor. Soon there will be fraught postings about lost cats around the area that owners will fear may have been victim to the Oglander Old Spot!!
  25. > hmmm I will not start again about social housing. But... I can't remember who said it but I loved "everything before the 'but' in a sentence is basically bull****. ;-)
