  1. Last night I was crossing the road up on champion hill, looked to my right and there was a golf about 80 yards away, so no probs to cross. It was about half way across i realise he's doing something in the order of 70 mph and accelerating, as I put an extra skip in my stride the driver finds it hilarious to do a little swerve in and away from my direction. At best it makes him a cock (forgive my swearing I'm still really angry) and worst he's the type to drive with balding tyres, lose traction, control and kill me and about 8 other pedestrians making their way home on a short, narrow residential st. It's these people who won't learn until they're either dead, have killed someone or both. I'm ashamed to say i shouted at him as he went by and made less than gentlemanly gesticulations. Considering he's probably the type to carry an iron bar that was probably not too wise on my part either.

It's less prevalent these days but Spanish names can be downright scarily catholic. Apart from a penchant for calling chaps things like Angel and Jesus, the girls' names are bonkers. It wouldn't be uncommon to meet a group of girls called variously Rosary The Ascension Of Our Blessed Virgin Butcher Rapture Our Lady of Santiago Baker Purity The Coming of the Saints Candlestickmaker poor darlings *he he Polly, great minds....*
  3. Well i did try some exceedingly authentic chinese out in Macau and most of the dishes scared the willies out of me I'm desperately ashamed to say (I like to think I'm game for most things short of a witchetty grub) so I'll make do with our anglocised version. Having said that I pretty much agree with Nuttynat's review. A pity as it *is* attractive and friendly and should really be a jewel in LL's crown. I reckon they need to pull their socks up a bit as I'm partial to a bit of chinese and would love a good purveyor of such in LL.
  4. Has anyone put together a list of the wi-fi hotspots in ED? I think the EDT does, Caffe Nero? The George Canning and Hoopers do. If we can get a comprehensive list I'll be happy to knock up A google map of them as a Forum resource.
  5. Any evidence for such a wildly and misguidedly conflated assertion before you panic half the families in ED? You might as well say too much school dinner and being shot can be fatal. And 'that man down the pub with a wooden leg told me' doesn't count as a peer reviewed scientific authority!
  6. Seemaa, I've been along to the others, and the main thing i was struck by was how normal everyone was. We were all a bit nervous first time as we don't 'do this sort of thing' either. But everyone was friendly and personable and I like to think I've made some pretty good friends out of it all. It also means you see familiar faces more often and even the odd impromptu coffee or pint :)
  7. So many to choose from. I thought we had a winner with Corduroy George, then The Uncle Keith Experience, but Bourgeois Mongoose may just carry the day!!
  8. Oh snorky, you make me chuckle. A bit of consistency would be nice. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,13813,13955#msg-13955 Personally I take short cuts through there all the time and now Hoopers is fast becoming my local, it's all really a sort of forgotten and hugely underrated area and I've yet to see any trouble, but that doesn't mean there isn't any I guess.
  9. Ooh, Pop Robson. Now we're talking. You wouldn't have had any 'i want to play for arsenal' sulks from him now!!
  10. Corduroy George, love it * looks ashamed, owns and likes Dogs Die In Hot Cars album * * edited - oh yeah, Gorge. Much prefer George *
  11. How cool. I wish you well SimonM even if you clearly don't reciprocate ;-P For the record my best mate at uni was a huge Owls fan and his little brother a Blade, and my mate would delight in going off on painfully researched diatribes to belittle his brother's chosen team. I can honestly say I've wasted no opportunity to give Lawrie a thumbs up when seeing him in recent years at how much he must be enjoying rubbing his older brother's nose in it these days.
  12. Mind you, I thought Fulham were in freefall (actually I've been resigned to West Ham relegationidge for substantial portions of this season), but as you say, anything can happen. Summer months are survivable. I hugely recommend the Hurling which Mrs O'Mockney introduced me to. I reckon a couple of 20-20s down the oval should also help to ease the pain.
  13. I'll sadly be an absentee for the first time, I'm stag doing a certain young french protestant in our midst that night. Have a good night and hope to see documentary evidence from Mr Black of lots of new faces there.
  14. I had no musical talent, but in a bez stylee.. We'll Sort It All Out In The Morning Recurring Stains On The Bedsheets
  15. Jah Lush, thanks for the favour. Can you just persuade Man U to throw the game next week too if it's in your power?
  16. Keep up the good work G&B gang!! It is beginning to look like a record got broken somewhere, but do please carry on doing what you do. I have to say I agree with Bob, that if I as a customer have some sort of gripe then perhaps a first port of call would be to take it up with the respective organisation themselves rather than immediately sound off on a public forum. I shall henceforth withold my criticisms of the Palmerston until I've taken it up with them personally, though the Vale shall continue to be the target of my ire forevermore.
  17. Well I've just got back from the Dark Horse, and I have to say the Clock House should wander down and learn a thing or two. Great service, friendly, relaxed (like the clockhouse) but more importantly well trained and efficient. Plus if you're going to charge 11 pounds for a main course learn to cook like they do there. Frankly Superb (and cheaper on a monday, hurrah!!)
  18. Suck indoors too. Wiiing mostly. Going through yesterday's 177 photos too!!
  19. Aaggh, I'm a bit torn. I see *bob*'s point entirely, but I'm sorry Bellendenbelle feels she's been bitten after popping her toes in the water. Don't be dispirited BB, rejoin the fold (said in a slightly disturbing invasion of the body snatchers stepford wifey way), and bob don't be dispirited, the forum wouldn't be the same if we stifle all debate.
  20. Well we had a mixed experience there yesterday. The refit is, well, odd. It's hanging around the if it ain't broke territory, but of course has plumped for the inevitable flock wallpaper gentlemans drawing room thingy in one corner and strange tall tables, but fine really. The food was nothing short of a disaster, taking well over an hour for anything to come out, and it wasn't busy, and the quality didn't merit it's ?11 asking price. That said they were very apologetic and we got full refunds. The chap who was dealing with us was very friendly and gave us terrific service (once they'd remembered about the food) and I guess mitigating circumstances, it was their first full sunday on the case. Plus nowt wrong with the beer. In short, drop your prices by 4 quid and get to grips with getting food to tables on time and i'll be happy to go back. Ooh, and matts cold platter was quite nice

You mean the button like the insert image url one? it's there and less is more sometimes
  22. still here. Be doing birthday type stuff in the clock house soon as it goes.
  23. I did the same and got the same story. All very sad, and so horribly shortsighted of the landlords. All they'll achieve is pushing out the businesses that make the road what it is, and the only people who'll afford the rents are of course the chains. Wimbledon village here we come. Anyway I asked him to mention here where he'll be moving to as my pictures were also of superb quality, and he'll be a loss to the area.

Well according to You're not me dot com there are 8 armanis and 2 lexus' in Britain from the last census. How depressing, but how right that they should be in the same family. Of course there's only one mockney piers ;-P
  25. I was born in Madrid but won't support a business machine like Real despite having been born within a stonesthrow of the Bernabeu. When we arrived in England we did a tour of London with dad and my big bruv got all excited around Upton Park for reasons noone can remember, consigning us to 29 years of torment. But we've stuck with it as it should ever be. I've no issue with a Londoner who supports Liverpool as long as they were vocal about it when they were banned from Europe, and weren't winning anything, and as long as they come down to that Hamlets or Fisher or Barnet or whatever to support their local team.
