  1. I saw Claire at health matters - heartily recommend. I too was very overdue and after two sessions had to cancel the third because I had just produced a healthy baby boy (just before appointment to be induced). Good luck with it - I know how hard the wait is, but it will happen! X
  2. Allo. Sorry bea not to be able to make earlier, but I can still make the usual 2pm meet up if others still can and are around for it. Linz x
  3. I've got to get a bag with my son's name on it for his nursery. I've found one online and there is a choice of how to print the name - either all lowercase letters or with a capital at the beginning. I wanted to get it done the same way that he will first be taught it at school to help him recognise and write it. Do children get taught all lowercase lettering first? I wondered if any wiser Forumites could help me out with my education? Many thanks in advance.
  4. Moflo, I completely agree. We've had problems several times recently and my toddler is now very scared of dogs. The last time we were having a picnic in the grass area by the lake, where supposedly dogs are meant to be on leads, but very rarely are, and while I was breastfeeding my baby and my toddler was having his picnic tea, two dogs not on leads came running aggressively over, trampled and chased each other all over the rug and started eating the food. The owners were very uncaring and rude, ending up hurling abuse at us. We were very upset and my 3 year old particularly was quite hysterical. I wish there was a park warden or somebody we could have gone to request help from and some sort of enforcement for the dogs to have to be on leads. Surely we should all be able to share the park area, dogs and humans alike without fear. There is a large common for the dogs to run free, I wish that notice was taken of the signs stating dogs should be on leads in the park.
  5. Good to see everybody - sorry didn't get to chat much this time. Jonah appears to have absconded with a Lamaze cuddly toy - Anna - is it Olivia's? X
  6. Hi Anna, Yep ok, good plan. Only thing is I've never actually used nunhead station before - is there a good non-paying road to park in for it? X
  7. Hey Anna, Yes definitely fancy getting on same bus, that is if they'll let us, with bus drivers well known love of prams! Actually Lou lives near us too, so i dont know if we all want to congregate? Slight potential fly in the ointment is there is a proposed bus driver strike tomorrow, but hopefully it won't go ahead, will have to rethink our mode of transport if it does. So what time and where would you like to meet? X
  8. Allo. Well really, I can't miss out on this Crooked Well thing, sounds like the only place to be this Friday! But can someone tell me where on earth it is?! Also, is it a toddler friendly environment or is it only for wee babies, cos got Alb in tow with me on Friday. Linz x
  9. Sounds brilliant - will definitely make it along (not having been before)after/if (!) got my two to sleep. Great.
  10. Hi Anna, I'd definitely be interested! More sleep please. Let me know if there's space. Love Linz x
  11. Hey all, Really looking forward to the Picnic - hold off rain! This is the latest from the organiser: Today's the day!!!! The rain is definitely arriving sometime it he afternoon, so we're definitely indoors for the live music & fun activities for youngsters. Hopefully the rain will arrive late, and any kids who want to try golf will be able to ahead of the wet weather. See you all there for a brilliant line up of live music, starting around 2.00 pm!!! Let's ROCK the JUBILEE!!!! So I think it may be a bit more indoor based than originally planned but still looks great. Lou - be great to see Nathan - I've now persuaded Neil to not work today so he'll be coming along too. Hopefully see lots of you there. Love Linz x
  12. Hi, Sorry to slightly hijack this thread, but I wondered if anyone on their garden centre travels happened to have come across a largeish Marguerite tree? I've looked in B&Q, Homebase and Dulwich Garden Centre to no avail. Need to replace one I managed to destroy last year, as part of a matching pair in pots. I was falling over them last year, but there seems a mysterious absence so far this year and therefore a rather gaping hole on our roof terrace. Thank you
  13. Hi everyone, Wondered if anyone fancied going to the Jubilee Big Picnic Celebration on Tuesday at Aquarius Golf Club. It's on Facebook and will paste in description below: An all afternoon celebration of Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee. Loads of space to bring a blanket, and enjoy live music in the great green outdoors of the Aquarius Golf Club. What better way to enjoy the bank holiday! Live music includes local bluegrass/country rebels Country Dirt, and the amazing Steve Boltz & New White Trash. Finishes at 19.00pm, so you won't be too tired for work on Wednesday! It starts at 13.00, so I figured it could sort of be the same time as our usual meet. It's local and could be fun. What do you think? Linz x
  14. Great to meet you too Nabeela and the lovely chilled out safiyya. See you again soon and good luck with your exam next week. Lindsay and Jonah (exploding poo, still talking!)
  15. Hi, Thanks for co-ordinating emails Anna - will send you a pm. Definitely hoping to make Tues meet up so see everyone there, maybe in the sunshine! Lindsay x
  16. Hi all, Hoping to come down, probably nearer half two. Be great to see you. Lindsay x
  17. I found this with all the places I wanted to register with and was the sole reason why we only put our names down for two. Won't name and shame (although maybe I should!) but the one we have ended up with charged ?75 and the one that couldn't give us a place when we needed it was ?100! We delayed ages registering because of this but in the end felt it was one of the best places we'd seen so reluctantly wrote a cheque. However when the time came and despite their original offer of a place last September when we needed it, they retracted it because an existing child decided not to move after a house sale fell through. We fully expected to be refunded but no joy! Which as the fee was so exorbitant was pretty tough to take.
  18. Yes I had this too and got really nasty - left it too long because I didn't want to take antibiotics. I was a bi further along in my pregnancy and the almost constant coughin was so uncomfortable with the baby. Antibiotics were the only thing that started to shift it so I wish I had gone for them sooner. Good luck, hope you get better fast.
  19. Hi Renata, I've contacted Chelwood as you suggested and they are also full, having offered out all of their places. I can't find St Mary's pre-school - could you tell me where that is please? Thanks
  20. Hi all. Really sorry not to be able to make this week but have a lovely time and hopefully see you for the next one. L x
  21. We didn't get into Ivydale Nursery either and are completely gutted. We don't live nearly as close as you - in Rye Hill Park, about 0.4 miles away, but, stupidly, as it turns out, we had been counting on it, as it is our nearest school and presumed our son would be going there for the primary as well. We've been using the Children's Centre for some time and got to know the fantastic staff. Our son has multiple severe food allergies and they have made wonderful effort with this, changing their practices so it is safer for him to come to the play sessions and we felt confident that the nursery were fully up to speed to cope with this too. Having spoken to Miles yesterday, in fact the number of siblings is 54 for 50 places so noone got in based on distance. We are number 30 on the list, so no chance. Which as far as I can see it, will also apply for the possibility of him going to Ivydale for primary in 2013 as the number of primary places is 60 so will be pretty fully allocated just with siblings. I hope wherever we end up will be equally lovely, but I'm upset that we can't get into our local school as the community aspect of it is very important to me and I feel drained by the thought of having to start all over again somewhere else that I may not feel as confident about.
  22. Hi, that sounds brilliant, well done, don't quite feel up to running yet but admire you very much for doing it. However, can manage coffee and cake tomorrow at gardens! Could do twoish again if that suits? Linz x
