  1. I grew up on the neighbouring Denmark Hill estate and had friends on the Champion Hill estate (now known I think as the Cleve Hall estate) and both have always been a nice place to live with friendly neighbours and have great transport links etc. Lots of flats/houses have obviously been bought over the years and Southwark Council have also auctioned off a lot of their properties in the area that become vacant over the years, rather than putting them back into the system. Just to say that council tenants are not having any repairs/maintenance on blocks that they live in done for free as they are paying rent!
  2. This was a big ad on the back of the Southwark News this week!
  3. So do I (love a pound land) and wouldn’t want it to close but as it’s such a new store it does need to be an enjoyable experience.
  4. Was meeting a friend for lunch today in ED and thought I’d make a quick visit to the Poundland beforehand as my usual store I visited closed down in Camberwell last year. As soon as I entered was confronted by very loud beat music blaring away (couldn’t wait to get out) and no staff around to serve on the till. The 3 self service tills were all closed so had to wait over 5 minutes to pay. Just hope they can up their game as they have a prime position in ED.
  5. I agree that selling items online can be a bit of a faff but the ebay app makes it easier these days to put photos on, set a postage rate, descriptions, etc. I’ve been buying and selling on eBay for quite a while now and it can be hit and miss with the selling and it does take a bit of time, buying the packaging, taking it to the post office (which I use to send everything I sell) but it can be a way to make a bit of spare cash. I sell bits on eBay for myself and for a charity I support. I’ve been selling bits on this forum for my charity but this is a bit hit and miss as well. If the OP pms me maybe I might be able to help and sell her clothes for her (and me) 😀
  6. Thanks for the link out of focus! Something I’m not sure what to do.
  7. “Unhealthy obsessed individuals” Erm it’s more than a handful of these individuals I would think! So was it ok to have the area (now known as the Dulwich Square) ripped out with no consultation nearly 5 years ago?
  8. Grand opening today of a new shop, Dolled Up London, 209 Lordship Lane, up next to the Magdela pub. Between 1pm-5pm.
  9. Thought I’d take a trip down to Rye Lane this morning to visit the charity shops etc. I usually park in the Morrisons car park and buy stuff there and then the nearby shops. I know there are a few shops near the Aylesham centre that are having to close but I was shocked to see the extent of shop closures, graffiti, overall decline in the area. Sometimes I get the bus and wanted to visit the Crises charity shop but it didn’t open until 10.30am and it had a coffee place inside. They have a shop in Rye Lane but are missing out on early rising customers. Walking down towards Santendar and the Primark store was very empty.Just hope that isn’t due for closure. The Scope charity shop has a prime position but doesn’t promote the shop Greggs have done away with their self service due to the number of thefts of food items. The Poundland was quite empty too but I visit this one as they have stock since the Camberwell one closed down.
  10. I don’t know what the shop was originally next to the big St Christopher’s but if Holland and Barrett are taking it over then surely it’s good to have a choice on Lordship Lane? The Camberwell H&B is always empty but the Brixton branch busy. I remember when the Marks & Spencer food shop was Iceland? Now the M&S is a very busy store and at the time regenerated the high street!
  11. Dulwich LTNs, specifically the Dulwich Village/East Dulwich Grove and other LTNs made the ITV London news earlier.
