  1. Thanks for the link out of focus! Something I’m not sure what to do.
  2. “Unhealthy obsessed individuals” Erm it’s more than a handful of these individuals I would think! So was it ok to have the area (now known as the Dulwich Square) ripped out with no consultation nearly 5 years ago?
  3. Grand opening today of a new shop, Dolled Up London, 209 Lordship Lane, up next to the Magdela pub. Between 1pm-5pm.
  4. Thought I’d take a trip down to Rye Lane this morning to visit the charity shops etc. I usually park in the Morrisons car park and buy stuff there and then the nearby shops. I know there are a few shops near the Aylesham centre that are having to close but I was shocked to see the extent of shop closures, graffiti, overall decline in the area. Sometimes I get the bus and wanted to visit the Crises charity shop but it didn’t open until 10.30am and it had a coffee place inside. They have a shop in Rye Lane but are missing out on early rising customers. Walking down towards Santendar and the Primark store was very empty.Just hope that isn’t due for closure. The Scope charity shop has a prime position but doesn’t promote the shop Greggs have done away with their self service due to the number of thefts of food items. The Poundland was quite empty too but I visit this one as they have stock since the Camberwell one closed down.
  5. I don’t know what the shop was originally next to the big St Christopher’s but if Holland and Barrett are taking it over then surely it’s good to have a choice on Lordship Lane? The Camberwell H&B is always empty but the Brixton branch busy. I remember when the Marks & Spencer food shop was Iceland? Now the M&S is a very busy store and at the time regenerated the high street!
  6. Dulwich LTNs, specifically the Dulwich Village/East Dulwich Grove and other LTNs made the ITV London news earlier.
  7. Linda Nolan of the Nolan sisters group.
  8. Yes it’s quite clear about how to get rid of them on the Southwark website. If you don’t have a brown bin then if you don’t book a collection just chop it up!
  9. I’ve attached a screen shot of what Southwark can do with Christmas trees. So sad to see them lying around. Can’t understand why people throw them out and block the pavements.
  10. That’s another big hike on the Sainsbury’s mini rolls! I spoke to one of the managers on the day of the anchovies price rise but all he could say was that his store doesn’t set the prices. Very vague and not helpful. i started this thread about price rises in Sainsbury’s and it’s somehow being blamed on Brexit etc!
  11. I’ve searched and found some chat back in October about the white stuff place closing and that Oliver Bonas could take it over. Hopefully that’s the case. Went to Bromley over Christmas and there’s quite a few shop closures on the main high street that weren’t there when I last went. Think it could be going the same way as Croydon sadly.
  12. Noticed today the Oliver Bonas shop is closed and it says the same on their website. Was up and running before Christmas. Wonder if they’re having a re-fit?
  13. Just up from the co-op, going towards Goose Green, a wagtail bird was flitting about on the pavement. It wasn’t worried about people walking along and then another one joined it and both flew over to a cake shop pecking at crumbs. Never seen one before and was nice to observe.
  14. I’ve viisited the lordship lane post office a couple of times over the past few years and found them so grumpy and unhelpful. One nearly falling asleep whilst people in the queue waiting! Very poor customer service.
  15. Went to get a few bits in the dog kennel hill Sainsburys this morning and something that has been £1.15 for ages has suddenly gone up to £1.45! Tin of Sainsburys anchovy fillets. Looks like price rises are on the way!
  16. Unfortunately I’m certain you will receive a fine through the post very soon! As someone else has said DV isn’t a school street and for some reason the restrictions are in force all year round, as some of my neighbours found out who have children and were taking them backwards and forwards to school clubs during the school holidays. So you would have been ok to go through the village with the Dulwich Village infants school on your left side and to go through Gallery Road through to West Dulwich. Unfortunately coming back the same way isn’t allowed between 8-10am and 3-6pm. Southwark want you to make an even longer car journey all the way round to the South Circular and along Lordship Lane, just when traffic is at its peak!
