Ditto your mum, pebbles & ClareC - got my daughter into adult single plus bed guards at 23 months in advance of her little brother's arrival. 6 months after she moved into a bed he moved into the cot. My daughter (2y 9m) had not 'escaped' from her bed at night, although she can get in & out independently. However, I can already tell my son is going to be much more of a hand full! ETA: great tip about the duvet, I hope I remember this in 2y time!

Not a sync to your iphone or video type but we found the BT 100 & 150 models to be very good - we have bought ours brand new & 2nd hand (from here and eBay), yes, we have 3!...two are still used daily 2.5y on, the other is at the grandparents'. There is a new range of BT monitors but not sure what they are like.

Bake off reaction from Ruby http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/10398278/Bake-Off-reaction-was-misogynistic-says-Ruby.html

I take back what I said about Ruby, she was much more likeable and I felt for her after her show stopper. Super picnic pie, though. Kimberly & Ruby's show stoppers were disappointing. Frances deserved to win it, she's got real flair & she seems like a good egg!
-
I like Kimberley - the fact that she says she has done her best or is happy with her bake is refreshing. I like Frances, too, very creative & fab presentation. I find Ruby's constant self deprecation & whining annoying and I'm not sure it is always genuine - "oh it's awful, it looks terrible, I don't know what happened, I'll be lucky to get to the next round....who? me? I'm star baker AGAIN, I can't believe it. I'm soooo happy". Not comparable to celeb wannabe shows such as Xfactor/Voice etc, this is all about the bake. Love cake. Love Bake off.

Here are the links to the pool timetables at Dulwich, Peckham Pulse and Forest Hill. You will be able to take your toddler to the 'parent & toddler', 'rafts & rascals' or 'general swim' sessions. Peckham Pulse has a hydrotherapy pool, which is warm & is shallow for the toddler & rafts & rascal sessions; Forest Hill has a learner pool that is normal pool temperature but shallow; Dulwich just has a normal pool. Lots of options, enjoy! I recently discovered games/toys by Orchard toys http://www.orchardtoys.com/ and think they are great. They do jigsaws, board games, educational games and are good quality toys likely to be enjoyed for a few years.

I'm following with interest, as a move (to goodness knows where) is likely within the next couple of years. The smaller mortgage for large® house in the 'burbs would hopefully more than offset the travel fare. Not to mention how much I could save on slice of cake ;)

Interesting and thank you but I am even more confused now! According to the tool on this thread: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,1175341, we are 267m from Goodrich and 190m from Heber, as the crow flies. This was the stated method used (as opposed to safest walking route) to calculate the distance in the starting school booklet for 2014/15 and we are within the furthest distance offered for both schools. However, according to the interactive map on this thread we are out of the catchment for both schools. Obviously, there are likely to be errors in the map when calculating distance but unlikely to be by almost 100m. So, what else is considered when deciding who to offer to (other than siblings) which would mean that even at 190m we are outside the catchment?

Swimming during the week with a 2 year old - where to go?
srisky replied to SebsC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Forest hill pool? http://www.fusion-lifestyle.com/centres/Forest_Hill_Pools/activity/Swimming Not sure about parking but Forest Hill Station is just a short walk plus there are lots of buses that stop either along Dartmouth Rd or at Forest Hill Station. -
Ignore. As far as I know, the only fines (parking wise) that you are legally obliged to pay are those issued by the council & TFL. They should have Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) on the letter. Often private companies use the phrase 'Parking Charge Notice' and others that also abbreviate to PCN to confuse you. You may receive letters threatening the bailiffs and court but these are not usually followed through, as it costs more them more than the cost of the fine.

Weaning off boob as a sleep aid - advice needed!
srisky replied to srisky's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks both for your very useful advice. I was exclusively bf during the day (dream feed was a bottle of formula) but he was becoming increasingly distracted that he was hardly feeding and compensating overnight with very long feeds, which is when the 'habit' developed. I started formula feeding about a month ago and managed to quickly drop day bf altogether without any problems of engorgement etc, which is quite telling about how much he was taking in during the day! Since exclusively ff during the day he only suckles for a few minutes at night in order to drop off, so he has essentially stopped feeding at night and is only using me for comfort. He then wakes in a good mood in the morning and is no rush for milk, so I am happy he is not hungry overnight. As for solids, we have recently started but he doesn't seem that fussed by it so I am just offering a small amount of food once a day an hour before his bottle so he gets used to the sensation. For the past 2 nights I went cold turkey on the overnight suckling. Last night he woke at 0030 & 0230 and settled quite quickly with a little patting. He then woke 0400 and was up until 0530 :( Nothing would settle him (except looking at the street lights or jumping on the bed!) and eventually he got tired and fell asleep. I am hoping that tonight it will be better....just need the stamina to see it through! Just to add, part of my need to wean him off comfort sucking (apart from sanity's sake) is that every so often I work nights and so I need him to be able to drop off again without me by the time I go to work next spring. -
