If the car park is free, as the OP suggests it should be, what's to stop it becoming off-street parking for local residents or a place to park before catching at train at ED station?

Thanks both!

Having this done later on in the week and I was wondering if there is a shampoo/conditioner that work well after the treatment. Googling gives varying answers and it seems to depend on the specific bb treatment used. Can anyone that has their's done by Carly recommend any shampoos or conditioners? Thanks

Maybe try asking Horniman Museum, the aquarium there has a couple. I don't know if they'll charge or if a credit in the magazine will be enough.

I think there is one on either Upland or Friern Road, at the Peckham Rye end. -

Yes, me too. For me it's because two very young children will never have their own memories of their mother and also because she lost her own mum (and in the manner it happened) when young. As a mother, that strikes a double whammy chord. Other than these facts I know nothing else about her but I did hug my kids a bit tighter and for longer this evening. -
We are lucky to have many lovely parks in Dulwich and the surrounds: Dulwich Park, Peckham Rye Common & Park, Brockwell Park, Horniman Gardens (& museum), Crystal Palace Park and more. Is there something specific you are looking for that would favour one park over another?

Hi lizzichu, No, we haven't decided yet purely because both husband and I are in job limbo (contracts finishing in the next year or so). I wanted to find out about areas around ED now so once the job situation is sorted (hopefully in the next few months) we can start a property search immediately. Penge remains high on the list and our kids are the same age, too - daughter 3y and son 12months :) Good luck to both you and JulieW in completing your moves! P.s Jennyh has moved elsewhere locally, I'll leave it to her to say where, as it's not my place to say although I'm sure she won't mind if I did.

Thanks for all the useful info, I'll try the ?2.99 Sports Direct option as I'm not sure how committed a runner I am going to be. Too many keys for the laces option, it will probably add another 10mins each way to the run. As for the other 'info', it was as expected!

Had my first foray into the world of jogging and realised I had no idea what to do with my house keys. I need 4 keys to get in to my abode so it is relatively bulky. Any suggestions what to do with them? Thanks

what's your family's favourite food?
srisky replied to SE22mum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I have been put off by oil based cakes but are they actually healthier than those made with butter or margarine? I imagine olive oil has too much flavour for many cakes and a flavourless oil like sunflower is often used. -

Banana cake - substitute some of the refined sugar with raisins/dried fruit (I've managed to reduce the sugar from 175g to 125g), use margarine instead of butter. It's probably still not THAT healthy but it's not all bad either when compared to most cakes! Hopefully someone will come up with an even healthier suggestion as I do like cake a lot :) -
I think that's an important point, Fox. A friend recently told me that a glass of orange juice has a similar (or maybe even more) sugar than a glass of coke, however, the former has various nutritional benefits. So comparing foods using a single factor e.g sugar content or GI is not necessarily helpful.

I feel inspired (no sarcasm), although I still intend to enjoy the good stuff in smaller quantities and less frequently. Here's a list of foods and their glycaemic indices: http://www.the-gi-diet.org/lowgifoods/ I'm surprised at some of the values e.g. mango versus watermelon. PeckhamRose, this is probably obvious but have you tried gradually reducing the sugar in your tea/coffee? If you reduce it by minute amounts over a long period of time it should be imperceptible to you, even if it is as tedious as reducing by a gram per week. Whatever reduction you achieve if you can sustain it over the long term then it will be beneficial.

This may help: http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/scotland/consumer_s/consumer_cars_and_other_vehicles_e/consumer_driving_and_parking_e/consumer_parking_tickets_s/parking_tickets_on_private_land_s.htm

I have ignored private parking tickets a couple of times in the past. They do send reminder letters, which eventually escalate to threatening ones about sending debt collectors but it's all hot air. However, I did read somewhere that the law may have changed and private fines may now be enforceable - worth googling before ignoring.

news of interest re: doctors owning up to mistakes
srisky replied to fl0wer's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Nap time and I have read the article.....makes a lot of sense and hopefully it will happen but I think it will take time to change from the current blame and defensive culture that exists. Unfortunately, healthcare is not an exact science and sometimes it will take a while for the diagnosis to be reached (my daughter has been on the receiving end of that) and the outcome may be worse as a result and rarely it will be missed altogether with devastating consequences. It's the limits of the system coupled by the fact that to err is human that accounts for some of the problems but I think honesty goes a long way. ETA: there are several cases where healthcare professionals have tried highlight mistakes and serious failings (whistleblow) and have been bullied, threatened, vilified and dismissed. The people that you seen in clinics, wards, surgeries are really small fry within the organisation. -

I haven't read the article but I hope this applies to all healthcare professionals! There is a thread in the main section started by the public governor for King's asking for feedback both positive and negative. -
Hi there, here is a link to a recent thread: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,1262218,1274797#msg-1274797 There are many other threads on a similar theme if you do a search. Good luck!

"70% of reproductive diseases in India are caused by poor menstrual hygiene" "23% of girls drop our of education once they start menstrusting" His aim is also to create 1 million jobs for poor women and millions more once he expands worldwide. He also wants to break the taboos and numerous myths around menstruation that are so harmful to women and in turn their children. I know I am just repeating what you have already read in the article but I am still in disbelief as to how far he went for others when it would have been so easy to ignore it in his circumstances and the massive impact he has had. The last paragraph, as quoted by mariababe, says it all. He's a modern day hero for women's health, education, liberation and empowerment, all intrinsically linked.

No prebook appointments at DMC until end of March
srisky replied to midivydale's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Whereas I received letter yesterday asking me to make a telephone appointment with the doctor to discuss my urine sample results....I never gave a sample and neither has anyone else in my household. Anyone happen to be waiting for a urine sample result? -
I can't believe he did all that. As a woman I couldn't do that but a man in a country where it is never talked about and therefore something he really had no comprehension of, then there's the personal sacrifice for no personal gain ....amazing.
