  2. Apologies if there's another thread on this but why are the pavement works not sorted out here by now? The kerbside is also disrupted & there is a large half covered ditch filled with water outside the old French Cafe. Isn't this a concern for the local shopkeepers too as it must affect their businesses. It is unsafe & unsightly. It would be good if this stretch of shops got a bit of attention. Is there a member of Southwark Council responsible?
  3. I agree very obscure with brand ID! They still have a shop on the Honor Oak side so perhaps they never really felt the SE22 was worth investing into? Soup would have been very popular & some lighting for inside.

  5. Take a look at this "Help us to discover Lambeth?s stretcher railings!" http://love.lambeth.gov.uk/lambeths-stretcher-railings/ Lambeth Council: Culture and community > Planning and regeneration The newly-formed Stretcher Railing Society are looking to identify and save the stretcher railing fences for future generations.

  7. Going tomorrow & intrigued to see what's on offer. Looked at their website & they seem genuine enough to me- I think Dulwich Village area needs something like this actually rather than chains of shops.
  8. Sad news, his presence in Forest Hill Road is greatly missed.
  9. I am not on anyones side but it concerns me that I can hear the sound of chainsaws at this moment when the position is not clear.
  10. Southwark Council is planning to destroy the woods of Camberwell Old and New Cemeteries, including felling over 30 mature trees, to make way for more than 2,000 new burial plots. Woodlands are the lungs of London. We want the cemeteries turned into local Nature Reserves, as with Nunhead Cemetery. Both cemeteries are part of the London Green Chain Walk and Camberwell Old Cemetery is a Grade 1 Site of Borough Importance for Nature Conservation. These wonderful woodlands are home to protected species, a wild tangle of trees and undergrowth, a haven of habitats and they are valuable to nature, to people and to the future. These woodlands provide many valuable benefits locally, cleaning the air, absorbing and filtering storm water, keeping the neighbourhood cool in summer, and providing beautiful, natural places for our mental and physical well-being. 11. There is an exhibition of the council?s plans at the Church now until the public meeting tonight with Southwark Council: 7.00pm - 8.30pm There's an opportunity to comment too. It's opposite the Rose pub at 108 Forest Hill Road SE22 0SG -Take some glasses as there's lots of small print!
  12. There's a tree trunk/stump at the end of Ryedale/ Forest Hill Road end, where a new tree could be planted.
  13. It's all making sense now as there are 'luxury' flats planned for above this spot.
  14. I would also like to recommend Nick at Abbey Roofing - 07966 285679. I had noticed weeds growing up from the guttering from my roof. He responded promptly and has cleared them already.Plus he is local to East Dulwich.
  15. Yes - how bizarre. alice Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Helena101 and fleur The psychic twins > > Fleur: Perhaps because Prettys was the only > independent green grocers in the area. That said, > if they can find a lockup for storage, perhaps > they could run a Friday and Saturday Stall in > North Cross Road. > > > Helena101: Maybe because Prettys was the only > independent green grocers in the east dulwich .But > if they can find a lockup for storage, perhaps > they could run a Friday and Saturday Stall in > North Cross Road.
  16. Perhaps because Prettys was the only independent green grocers in the area. That said, if they can find a lockup for storage, perhaps they could run a Friday and Saturday Stall in North Cross Road.
  17. Old two trees moved to where Si mangia is now and yes - all went downhill unfortunately, lost it's quality.
  18. I wish Two Trees was still there, wonderful breakfasts and good cous cous. It's a terrible it has been neglected, sadly doubt we will see anything as good there in the future.
  19. It has taken ages for these shops to be converted, been a very messy business and not good for Omrith's trade I imagine, hence super bright signs. I'm glad if Mr Coe's tv repair shop at 92 could continue as a commercial business, no doubt good for trade along that stretch. The Turkish is great. I think the French cafe has made a great contribution locally too. Plus the post office being the hub of activity.
  20. I may have missed this (perhaps it's part of drainage issue). But does anyone know what the digger and bricks are being used for parallel to the backs of Ryedale houses?

  22. Is there anyone locally that can deliver some 50-70 mb @ 300dpi images for me from about 3 small paintings. I need them for printing so need a professional DSLR.
  23. I agree with Alice. The angle of the road looks like Underhill.
  24. Blimey, I hope 400K wasn't spent on painting bollards outside the shops. I have noticed the aerosol man has started up again recently. I hope the street gets tidied up a little and bins are sorted out by the time the new hairdressers gets it's grand opening.
  25. All shuttered up this morning, no sign of any work happening.
