  1. As your insurance company will tell you, East Dulwich is an area prone to subsidence. A speed bump adjacent to your property, may possibly cause subsidence problems to your property, due to the vibrations caused by vehicles hitting the humps. I do not know this to be a fact, but having had some experience with insurance and a subsidence claim, I would certainly check with your insurance company. Any piece of information that is not disclosed to your insurance company may affect the validity of your claim. If speed bumps are installed I would certainly inform my insurer, who may well increase the annual premium to cover the possible increase in risk.
  2. I agree with Marmora Man, I voted to becoming part of the "EEC" the "European ECONOMIC Community", the treaty of Rome as was I believe.I did not, nor was I, or other UK citezens allowed to vote on becoming part of the EU,where laws rules and statutes are applied to UK citizens with no choice as to whether we like or agree with them.My wife and I will most certainly be voting on Thursday, while we still have the opportunity to do so.
  3. Try "Interactive Investor" internet site. ?10.00 per trade. Incidentally site owned by Halifax Bank of Scotland. Hope this helps if you fancy a punt, just done a similar trade for 500 "Barclay's shares. Wish all both good luck.
  4. Regarding residents driveways. The average permitted driveway is 2.5 metres wide. An average family saloon car, say a Ford Mondeo is 4.7 metres in length. If the car of 4.7 metres in length is on the driveway, as oppossed to being the road, an extra 2.2 metres of roadway is available for parking.
  5. AND ANOTHER SERIES OF NO'S, NO,NO.NO.NO.NO.

  8. I'm on Therapia very therapeutic, any others ?
  9. I had an appointment with Lesley the very nice nurse at "The Forest Hill Road Group Practice" for a blood pressure check AOK thank God. However Lesley informed me that a huge open top truck passed all the cars in Forest Hill Road and was full of some type of aggregate, cement and water, this was spewing out from the bottom of this truck on both side and almost spraying the parked cars with the grey/white mixture.Lesley presumed this vehicle came from the waterworks site.
  10. Having lived in Therapia for a considerable time, I too was curious about the names, and why it is nicknamed the "Crimean Corner". I asked the same question as you on the EDF and received the following from "Marmora Man" Hi, Therapia is where a large, and possibly one of the first, British War cemeteries was established. I believe there were also some amphibious landings there during the same Crimean War. I did have some pictures off both Therapia and Mundania - both were / are resorts for what was once Russia, then USSR and now, I think, Georgia. The names have changed slightly which is why a Google search tends to turn up property details in SE22 rather than Crimean references. For my part Marmora is important because it is where Royal navy submarines first saw real action in WW1 - winning many medals including at least one VC. (I was a submariner in my youth). Being on the corner of Marmora & Scutari makes a good story as my wife is a Nightingale Nurse - so we have links to both names. Thanks for the aforementioned to "Marmora Man"
  11. My wife and I are both patients at thr Forest Hill Road Group practice. Our telephone and broadband provider is Talk Talk; as such all 01 and 02 numbers are free. When studying my bill for July I noticed the two calls that were made to the practice were itemised, the cost ?1.22, appalling !!!
  12. Hi Marmora Man, Drxyster of Therapia bows to your superior knowledge and thanks you for the correction.
  13. I understand that taking alcohol with antibiotics totally destroys any effects that the antibiotics have, it makes it totally pointless to take them. Alcohol destroys the efficacy of antibiotics.

  19. " I don't believe it" One foot in the Grave
  20. The comment from Falcao is probably the most dated, and facetious comment I have ever read on the EDF. Perhaps "Falcao" can explain what "The East Dulwich" is ???
  21. Try these sites on the net. Door Furniture Direct, also World of Brass, huge selections, I'm sure you will find what you are looking for. Good Luck.
  22. Lived in ED for over 30 years never been "Mugged". But please let's stop "Pussy Footing Around" Let's say it as it is "ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE OR THE THREAT OF VIOLENCE. Mugging gives the impression it is the fault of the victim, which of course it is not. Proposal for Goose Green, erection of the stocks with those convicted of ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE or the threat of, locked in the stocks for 24 hours, so the "Good Folk" of East Dulwich i.e members of the ED Forum, could pelt them with whatever garbage they cared to throw.
  23. I would strongly advise that you have a structural engineer survey the property prior to purchase.
  24. I totally agree. I had the same occurence, changed insurance company and saved over ?60.00 annually, for a slightly improved policy. I used money supermarket dot com, but there are many others,
