  1. I believe this article may be of interest. A shift in government policy means that water firms will now be responsible for the repair and maintenance of all private sewers. Previously, the responsibility had fallen to whoever owned the land under which the sewer pipes ran. While this is welcome news for affected homeowners - potential repairs could run into the hundreds of pounds - it will mean higher bills for everyone: not only will the water firms want to recoup the additional cost of maintaining these pipes, but also the revenue they will lose in selling lucrative sewerage pipe insurance to households.
  2. According to the latest BBC "Watchdog" programme, the best place for currency exchange is the Post Office.I do not know if this is true, but certainly worth checking.
  3. Received a personal email from Boris today regarding this.

  8. It has not been an Off License for at least 15 years. But it has been a total mess for 15 years
  9. I agree with your sentiments, but wonder if the change in the law ,if and when it happens will be so watered down as to make any difference at all.I am given to understand that in certain states in America,if an intruder is shot or badly injured no charges whatsoever are brought against the householder. The same should apply in the UK.
  10. I also have just watched this programme and I totally agree with your comments and sentiments.I am also receiving treatment at King's and cannot fault the service.

  13. Perhaps some of the past and future posters on this subject may wish to comment on the following. If you knew a woman who was pregnant, who had 8 kids already, three who were deaf, two who were blind, one mentally retarded, and she had syphilis, would you recommend that she was sterilised or had an abortion? if you recommend sterilisation or abortion Ludwig van Beethoven would never have been born.
  14. A fabulous Aladins cave of antiques, curios, and both old and sometimes new items. I believe they mostly cleared houses for their stock. I remember visiting quite often with my dearly departed mother. New stock was usually placed on sale on Tuesdays, that is when most of the dealers would visit the emporium. Sadly missed.
  15. Also in Therapia usually between 11:45 and 12:15.
  16. Very pleased to hear you have the old girl back (The Freelander). I sincerely hope she is not too distressed
  17. We also live on Therapia, I have a security camera, but only check the recordings if I hear of anything untoward, or notice anything unusual on or around our house the next day. Thanks for the info, will probably check the camera more often, however nothing out of the ordinary appeared on it last night only the milkman at 02:48.

  20. I agree with "Marmora Man", if this were possible it would be extremely interesting.
  21. I have recently had the same problem, with most suppliers charging say X amount for the first 2680 units/ Kwh (Kilowatt Hours) and a lower sum for the rest of the units used in that specific quarter.I contacted both my Electricity supplier and Gas supplier and asked how many units I had used in the last year and also how many units were at the higher price and how many at the lower price.I also asked what these prices would be from March 1st 2011. This gave me the information I required to compare different suppliers accurately.I am therefore staying with my present supplier of Gas but changeing my Electricty supplier.I also believe that from March 1st EDF my current electricty supplier will be making a daily standing charge for Electricty, whether or not you use any electricity. This is particularly annoying, if for instance you are away from home for a few weeks each year, this means you are paying a daily charge when not using any Electricity. My eventual annual saving is expected to be ?33.00 a year. Was it all worth it???
  22. Based on the Governments weekly booze allowance, I am now consuming my alcohol allowance for the year 2050. Here's hoping I live happily and Healthily to over 100.
