  1. Are you going to keep them all in a little jar or something, to show her when she's older? My Mum did that for me and always promised/threatened to turn them into as little necklace - which I always thought was a little ghoulish. She was raised in Kenya though so that may have been where thst stemmed from...
  2. Awwww - another kiddie milestone. Congratulations - my eldest, having read way too many Charlie and Lola books, is counting the days until the tooth fairy makes an appearance. (edited as I sounded kinda crazy)
  3. Oh no - how old are your collective boys? They're not trying to put you in the new Academy are they? Sorry - no aspersions being cast, but it obviously wasn't your premier choice.
  4. Goodrich? It's, like, two minute's walk away! How big is the catchment area for g**dness sake. My thoughts are with you both!! What a horrid situation. My two are a couple of years away from school - but if it turns out Ryedale is a black hole I won't be Ryedalema for much longer I can tell you.
  5. Sorry all - the nursery's just rung to say that eldest monster is sick so I'll have to rain check. Have fun and hopefully see you next week. Claire xxxxxx
  6. Yep - I need a dose of something medicinal after an exhaustihng weekend. 2.30 good for others?? Claire x
  7. Our daughter started at the south london dance studio (Herne Hill next to the local Sainsburys) when she was 2.5 last Jan. She absolutely loves it. She wears the obligatory little pink tutu leotard and wrapover cardie, they have 45 min lessons with 'Miss Laura' and they pretend to be Australian animals, do choo choo train congas read about Angelina Ballerina and have learned first and second position - so far. Quite relaxed and they change the activities lots to take account of their attention spans. Very cute.
  8. I cry at anything that involves an 'I'm proud of you' moment - so soap opera weddings, parents' evenings (on TV) - Supernanny is a bad one too. I'd like to say it was new baby related, but my Mum was exactly the same. Sooo sappy :-$.
  9. Oh I didn't know you could or had to book - we just turn up. I'd love to go to JB's or RR's with our 4.5 month old sometime next week. Wednesday would be best for me too (ladies and men wot pub lunch on Monday) and litt'un in nursery the other days. Polly D we'd love to join you.. Anyone else?
  10. Wearing a Flak jacket to walk down a deserted Peckham street says it all...
  11. Hi there - we get the bus but my friend parks at the Lidl car park which is just in front of it. You don't need to book for Raft and Rafters but I think if they reach capacity then you get turned away - so get there a little bit early. Our eldest daughter (2.75) goes to Jelly Babies with our babysitter who is also a lifeguard and kiddy swimming teacher. How old is your little one? I always thought Jelly Babies might be a little less rough and tumble than Rafts and Rafters as it's for younger kids - but I could be completely wrong. Can anyone advise?
  12. If you go to the big chemist in North Cross Road they have some more unusual eco-disposable brands. I've found the Bambo (I think that's what they are called) brand fits much better.
  13. Restaurant, Take away, Fish and chipper I think - I did notice it wasn't a 'fish vendor' like Moxons.
  14. Does anyone know when this is opening? The new sign's up now and it's all looking fresh and sparkly clean.
  15. Ah - I got a 'Good Morning' one from the Lib Dems. I wouldn't mind but it's a bit hazardous first thing in the morning while carrying newborn bleary-eyed down the stairs to find unexpected paper (banana skin-esque) on the wooden floor. No diff to all the pizza/curry menus though so not a deal breaker... I'm going to feel sooo unpopular tomorrow. I guess the result will give me something else to worry about though.
  16. How would one go about joining or applying for the WI here? My Mum and Nan were keen WI'ers and I'm dead keen on cupcakes, chocolate, crafty-ness and go-girlness. Is there a waiting list or an initiation or anything? (hope so on the latter) ;-).
  17. Ah - just buggies as far as I could see x
  18. Harris Girls is our polling station so I guess that's closing. I'm more concerned with who to vote for - I'm really letting this get to me, sleepless nights and everything. (Sorry - going off topic - will behave now).
  19. Well - here's one knackered mother's (da*ned bank holidays) review of the new Mothercare. Yes it has parking around the back (and car seat fitting bays and mummy/daddy and baby bays) - you'll have to negotiate construction machinery but I'm sure that's temporary. No cafe sadly - what a treat that would have been ;-( Big ELC bit which is well stocked and spacious - no tripping over left-out toys (or at least not yet). Overall well-stocked with lots of pushers (10% off until Monday!), clothing, maternity, feeding, clean bum and bathing stuff etc. You'll have to get used to saying 'I'm fine thank you' a lot as the newbie and slightly over-keen sales staff seem to be very concerned with your wellfare (bless - give them time). Nothing though that I hadn't seen before - so my quest for solutions to problems I didn't know I had remains unvanquished. Lovely shiny clean though and long long opening hours!!
  20. My four month old has just had hers and we've had no side effects that I've seen anyway. I'm not sure of the pros and cons of having it this young (it only lasts 10 years or something doesn't it) but at least from a scarring point of view she won't pick at it and her skins so young it'll probably heal really well - and may even disappear entirely (hope against hope)!
  21. Good way of thinking about it :)-D.
  22. Oh G*d - am I reading you right Mockney? I'm so so sorry if that's the case. :'(:(
  23. Ooh - a nice 'Monday thing' hoorah. Does The Herne suit peeps or should we go somewhere else? I know Ruth and PIers at least have a fair trek to get there.
  24. Me too - so overly and disproportionaltely excited - I can't tell you! My life....sighhh.
  25. Did anyone get a handwritten blue Basildon Bond note from their Lib Dem Candidate? Complete with sp's? Campaign spelled 'campaing' and lots of wrong its and their's? It doesn't affect who I'll vote for but I'd get a proofreader in if I were them. At least it's not a glossy full-colour hi-spec job. The amount of money and waste that's going on here.
