  1. And the steam fair at Belair - I love the steam fair! (Mind you - weather's not looking great for Sunday :'()
  2. I feel the urge - with the gorgeous weather and my weight loss programme - to try out one of those shop bought hair dye kits. I've never done this before (always had the hairdresser do it but trying to save pennies), does anyone have any recommendations on brands? My blonde days have gone so I'm looking brunette-ish or red (and need to cover some child/husband induced grey hairs :'(). Also - can you dye your hair while still bfing? Something in the back of my tiny brain is telling me it's a no-no. Thanks for your help :)
  3. Ooh yes I'd agree with the ones with the handles. Not only to get them onto the seat but our daughter felt much safer on the seat while holding onto the handles and - trying to say this delicately - found it easier to push down if holding onto something.
  4. I'll be there - hopefully by 8. Mine's a weight watchers special - yawwwnnn!
  5. Yikes it's Thursday already. Shall we say Saturday then and make it a weekday next time? I'll book the Plough (but last minute - sorry - so we may need to squeeze in). 7pm or 8pm? xx
  6. Speaking as someone who has to get rid of a dummy with a three year old (she has individual names for hers!) - get rid of it as soon as you can! I'm dreading the nightmare of the 'dummy fairy' swapping her dummies for birthday pressies next month. xxx
  7. Our daughter goes there too - very cute!!
  8. Stickers and money were our saviours. The obligatory sticker chart on the wall was a starter..but now we have sticker charts for everything (eating vegetables, good behaviour, staying in bed in the mornings, no tantrums, not killing your sister etc) so now we've reverted to money. She has a gorgeous little money box on the windowsill above the toilet and gets a coin (or 2 or 3) when she goes - and when she wipes her b*m and washes her hands! It might be complete bribery, but it's working (and she's learning the concept of saving up for toys/treats etc).
  9. We didn't have anything playing during either of our births (too fast and not enough wits about us) but we've kept the number ones from each of their birthdates. - Rihanna's Umbrellas for daughter #1 - Rage against the machine for daughter #2. this link takes you to the site that works it out.
  10. I have really sore joints, especially my wrists, every morning too. It's happened with both my girls while breastfeeding. I was diagnosed with carpel tunnel last time and it's recurred this time (youngest daughter is 5 months). If you have pins and needles during the night and a throbbing sensation in your wrists/joints I'd go and see the doc. If it is carpel tunnel then I found that it diminished after I finished bfing. I'm on the waiting list with DMC though for physio - I had the steroid injections last time (which are horrid). Good luck with it and please PM me if you want to chat more. It's horrid I know - I think it's something to do with: - holding baby in one place for lengths of time while bfing - the elastin leaving our bodies. Although I'm def not a medical practitioner so it's only an amateur opinion. x
  11. Arul and Silva s Looking through your posting history you've only posted about the new Mothercare. Nothing wrong with that (if a little repetitive) but if you work there could you make it clear? Personallly I don't mind - in fact it's always nice to hear when we can save money - but would prefer it if you were transparent about your motivation. Hope I'm not being unfair/school marmish everyone??
  12. Oh gosh - do you think perhaps we should do both? It seems there's enough of us to have two good nights out (some may even go to both!). If you want I'll book them - Plough again everyone? Or any other suggestions?
  13. What's going on here? A bit of Ground hog day or summink?
  14. Oh dear it's a bit of a reversed stance from me (Radio 1 by the way - my OH hates it ). I can't help making up rude versions of the children's TV tunes. I have a wicked set of lyrics for 64 Zoo Lane! But as our nearly-3 year old's favourite saying is 'for f**k's sake the pooter's broken again', I think we're down for a parenting prize anyhow. (My husband's fault - honest!)
  15. Wow i love that one. A couple of hours ago I went to get money out of the cash point for my OH. I took the card but not the cash...thankfully there was a very honest chap behind me. Should we be let out by ourselves??
  16. Ha ha - brilliant, that beats my dettol/mouthwash mix up. But that's pre-monsterhood so it doesn't count (for me).
  17. Ah yes - and Smiler it sounds like you will have 2 girls, right? Beware of the hand-me-downs. The baby won't care (obv.) but your eldest daughter may go 'but that's mine!!!' (In a very whiny voice). At least that's the daily moan/whinge in our house.
  18. Wonderful post Mellors - that's about the same for me. Cept I haven't bothered with a cot for our youngest. We have those Ikea bunk beds and after an A&E trip with our eldest (hello Buggie!) when she mistook the upper bunk for a diving board, have turned the bunks upside down so eldest d has a normal level bed and our baby sleeps on a mattress next to her on the floor. Then I can nip in to see her during the night if she needs me and co-sleep/feed if it's needed. Our baby seems to have slipped into the routine of our eldest, not particularly by design but just because that's what we were doing. Makes me think I totally over-fussed with eldest d. Oh well!
  19. hmmmm...while I was writing this post this morning our eldest daughter (nearly three) got hold of my bright pink nail varnish and did her toe nails.... ...the rest of her feet her bottom most of her right thigh her pyjamas Dad's vibrating massage chair. Then I heard 'Mummmmmmyyyyyyy...I need some help!' :-$
  20. Oh dear - I've just cleaned my teeth with the kiddie tooothpaste (mmm strawberry), yesterday I nearly put the potty doings in the laundry basket, the day before that I nearly poured the kettle into the tea caddie... Is anyone else doing daft things as we (ahem) multitask in our sleep-deprived 'where's the intravenous caffeine?' state? And to think they let us drive cars.....
  21. Ha ha - yes indeed it could sound Hefner/Hoff ish couldn't it. Thanks for all the advice everyone - I think I'll leave the pool side of things for another time and possibly not until we move to Oz. (Da*n and for once if WW does its job I might look half decent in my cossie) (Mmm - who is this party for, little monster or me??)
  22. I'm not quite sure what to make of this thread. Whilst LTEC has genuine concerns about the factuality of a posting and is of course entitled to post whatever he/she wants herself, I feel this heavy hinting without actually coming out with it is making people feel a bit paranoid about what they've written. Or maybe it's just me in my slightly sleep deprived, chocolate withdrawal symptomatic state. Sorry LTEC - we all I'm sure try and post the facts as we see them, or based on our own experiences. Please don't be upset if we're not gospel. How many people I wonder accept Wikipedia as fact? Just a musing.
  23. Mmmm - smaller does sound better. I always used to hate those shared parties I had when I was little as loads of people came whom I didn't know. There's precedent at the nursery - a few massive parties recently - but I don't think I'll bow to the pressure and will keep things separate. A cake and goodies for nursery, and something more intimate for her and her buddies. I love the bouncy castle idea (will try not to remember losing my front teeth on one when I was a kid) and the Pinata (sorry no idea how you spell that). I saw one the other day that had ribbons so no need for flying weaponry - any idea where you get them? Toys R Us perhaps?
  24. That's so so sad...it's not like the little mite either knew what was happening to it, or could do anything about it. Truly helpless..
  25. Fuschia and GinaG3 - I love PR for parties, thanks for the suggestion. Only problem in the past has been the weather. Even when we've been sure as sure that it'll be sunny it's let us down and all have trouped back to ours. I don't mind too much but an unplanned ransacking can get quite exhausting ;-) I was hoping for something weather-resilient.
