  1. Does anyone fancy doing this again next Monday? Or even a day this week? Striking while the sun's out - hopefully. I'm guessing we'll all be glued to the TV/Radio on Thursday though - unless you feel differently? xxx
  2. SB - I just wanted to add my sympathies. I'm likewise a bit sleepless and not all of it child-led. I have carpel tunnel in my right wrist (brought on from holding babes while bfing) and it really throbs/stings in the middle of the night. :'(
  3. Ouch mysticnutmeg - we can't be perfect Martha Stewart/Mary Poppins/Nigella Lawson figures all the time. Sometimes we need to have adult company (and recreational tipples) to keep our sanity and have some of our own fun. So sometimes (and actually it is pretty rarely 'cos as Nappy Lady cites 'children are the best think twice's on G*d's great earth')we revert to the 'keep them safe, fed, warm and clean' mentality. At least for a morning while we pull ourselves together. My apologies if I fell foul of an inside joke and your message was tongue in cheek.
  4. The one in Streatham seems to always be open if you are desperate and have transport. It's on the main drag just past SDtreatham Hill station.
  5. I'm doing it this morning! I went to Black Cherry and Liquorish last night with my brother and had v. yummy and much to moreish cocktails. Darling eldest daughter was up at 5.20am and prodded youngest daughter awake - such a cherub! Luckily their uncle was still here so we took them to two (TWO) parks this morning and he ran around with eldest while I 'supervised' from the bench. 30 mins until our babysitter comes to take her swimming....29....28!
  6. I missed it too 'cos of the rain ;-( But we had a totally fab time at the London Transport Museum (with my brother and I getting really competitive with the card-stamping orienteering thing). We then went and watched some of the busking shows in Covent Garden - where a hapless and nameless 3 year old girl tried to join in and gave her own break dancing sideshow - completely stealin gthe thunder from the guy who was 'supposed' to be the centre of attention. Sigghhh - happy days!
  7. I know it can be a little misleading Steve...please don't lose heart. You'll get everything and more from this forum. On the one hand help and support, on the other exceptionally frank and honest views and some way-out humour too. Welcome aboard...
  8. Aw brilliant thank you!! Can't wait for Monday now.
  9. + one of the most active/popular/successful forums in London! (someone told me in a focus group down the pub - so it's fact!).
  10. First off - happy May Day everyone. I love the start of May - such a beautiful month (having a birthday in it helps ;-)). Does anyone know if anything May Day-ish is happening in or around ED this weekend? I was thinking May Pole, Morris Dancers ('cept the guy with the pig's bladders and horse's head used to freak me out when I was a kid)? I had a quick look in the What's on Section and couldn't find anything - any ideas? Oh - it has to be suitable for a 4 month old baby, a nearly three year old whirling dirvish and a 'still a kid' 35 year old uncle - and me (who will be hitting the gin anyway!). Thanks for your help xxxxx
  11. What if you hate decision trees?
  12. Wow - I know it's a bit of a trek for a humble brownie - but I thought by now someone would have mentioned the brownie 'tower' at Borough market. Incredible brownies in a jenga-like formation - mmmmm. Mine's the one on the very bottom 'whoops they've all fallen down they must be seconds now'. :)) The same stall also does white chocolate and bacardi cake - corrrr! But - my cake of choice is the florentine, and the cheese block does a fab one. Lots of dark choccie on the bottom...slather, slather. How long until tomorrow's opening time??

Yes, that's him...Mr. Baxter. He looks much less scary in an anorak with grey hair I can tell you. I also saw Emily Watson walking along Southbank (Shad Thames)on Tuesday looking casual but very beautiful and Anna Friel ran passed me as I went into work in December (just before my Mat. leave) and nearly got run over by the car that was presumably trying to pick her up. Do I get points for a jay-walking Anna Friel at least?

I see the scary teacher from Grange Hill - not Bronson the one with beard - walking almost every day when I drop the girls at nursery (near Denmark Hill). I can't get any points for that I suppose unless he was walking a ferret??

I saw a very sweaty James Nesbitt in a cafe in Herne Hill last Saturday morning - but I guess he's spotted around here lots - right? Also saw Adam Ricketts (Corrie star) chewing his face off at a rave I organised once (another lifetime ago).
  16. Ummmm - not always. I hadn't given up contraception with our first. Seems the pill really is only 99.99% effective. :-$
  17. I've had my general election one, but not my local election one...will call Southwark now. - Just found it's one card for both (derr) so, yes we have ours.
  18. B*mmer - it looks like I missed most of you but it was good to see some (I left at 3.30 for little C's BCG - bleurgh). Maybe we can make this a semi-regular thing, or at least a 'more than once' ?? Esp as the weather's getting better (I know I've jinxed it now!)
  19. Oh perhaps I've swallowed a gullible pill. My OH told me it's an Aussie thing to eat the 'other way around'. He's from Adelaide and eats that way (but also grew up in Papua New Guinea and Tasmania - so it could hail from there too). I'm a lefty and eat normally - strict boarding school upbringing and many slapped wrists. We never eat in front of the telly so it can't be that.
  20. Does anyone know if there's anywhere in ED where you can get Cassie's (4 month) Australian passport photos done? They are a different size from UK and not all photographers do them.
  21. Ahhh - sprung, I actually passed there last night on my way home from a naughtily-drunken NCT girls night out. I wrote the post last night and forgot to send, such was my wooziness. I then forgot to edit it this a.m. I really shouldn't be allowed out by myself.
  22. I just went past the huge new Mothercare being built at the E&C end of Old Kent Road. Hoorah another place to spend my scant (and hard-earned) Maternity cash. Does anyone know when it's opening? Maybe they'll have some opening day/week incentives ......
  23. Ours are a bit young I'm afraid. Btw - the Crystal Palace 'family' fair is on. We're taking the tribe there tomorrow afternoon to fill up on E-numbers and adrenalin.
  24. You coming KeeF? We'll get some XXL nappies in then.
