  1. Oh dear - i know I'm going to get lynched for saying this, but I have a toddler, newborn and somnambulant OH, and in the morning i: - get tea, milk, medicine for all - all bathed, teethed, hair brushed and dressed (husband included!) - bags packed (changes of clothing for toddler, life support gadgets for OH) - get them all in a warm and defrosted car by 7-7.15 - drop OH off at E&C (from the Rye) by 7.45 - drop toddler off at nursery (in an allocated parking space) at 8am - then go home and hit the gin bottle (wish!) So it is possible to be organised and get out in a reasonable time so as not to impress our lifestyle on other sectors of society/demographics. Then, I hasten to add, the car stays at home and all other journeys are done on foot.
  2. You seem to be coping ok with it LE. I had one and it scared the daylights out of me. Serves me right for trying that internet dating lark. Never again!
  3. Good idea about St. Christophers. I get fed up with Freecycle. I've had so many people saying 'we must have it/them now' and then not turning up. I've kind of given up on it.
  4. Me too - I advertised them on here for free and had no takers. Do you think Kings (or another hospital) would be interested? Or one of the midwife teams?
  5. Smiler - I'm in exactly the same boat. We sold our old car and the money is to go to a 'trailer', which my OH will use to take the 2 juniors to nursery, and I'm to use as the main buggie. He's still 'researching' it, so we've still got a single buggie and sling with our 2.6 year old and 2 month old. A bit of a juggling act at the mo as 2.6 year old seems to get jealous if the littl'un is in the buggie and immediately wants to get in there, meaning that I have to transfer newbie to the sling - unless I have the scooter (which she quickly gets bored/tired of too). I'm like a travelling equipment store at the mo even for fairly short journeys. Grrrrrrr.
  6. Hope you get in touch with her EMC. Let us know when it's on won't you (if it comes together), so I can shout at the telly (not at Local mama obviously!).
  7. What a nice message from the CEO - and on a Saturday night - points for that in my book. http://www.mhpf.org.uk/board.asp?member=PaulFarmer I hope his words turn into actions, and that you can put this all behind you localmama. FJ you are right - it is absolutely not acceptable for someone to 'peek' into the changing room. What an invasion of privacy. Sounds like this guy has committed many crimes against acceptable behaviour. I have to say I've always found the other staff members to be really nice. I wonder what it's like to work for/with him then!
  8. I thought it was a chess piece thing - The Bishop, The Castle? If so, The Queen, or indeed The Pawn would be good names and have the same feel as the Villager.
  9. Jaws - my husband had a horrid exp (was attacked) just before Christmas, which I and our 2.5 year old witnessed. I really feel for you and know what you mean about reliving it all in your head. We've just been through the witness statement/identification parade and victim support side of things so if you want to chay just PM me. All the very very best x
  10. I wondered why they had none the last two times we went. I put it down to poor stock control and went to NCR pharmacy for it. I seriously hope there's nothing wrong with the product!! Am worried now!
  11. Oh my - you've had a terrible day. We're all supporting you. xxx
  12. Ah - i did wonder about whether some staff there had mental health issues/challenges etc but I didn't want to sound un-pc. Surely if their 'illness' meant that they could be prone to attacking people with aerosols then there should be some sort of steward's enquiry about whether they are suitable personnel to be serving the public though. Agreed the Militant Millie approach may upset too many innocent bystanders - the press might be an option if we get no joy from the CEO though. However it's only really a 'story' if the Mum involved, gets involved. Anyone know her? Or maybe she wants to put this horrid exp. behind her.
  13. I'm up for that too. Ummm, we could alert the media, or is that going too far?
  14. Okay, okay - I know this is a much loved subject - but I just wondered whether your child had ever done this. We seem to have gone from the sublime to the cor blimey. A few weeks ago #1 child was not interested in potty training at all - now she wants to go to the toilet every five minutes (even at night). I figure there's an aspect of sibling jealousy here. When she's on the toilet she gets our undivided attention. Also she gets stickers for a chart which is very appealing. Most times she actually produces something - sometimes you know she's just delaying bedtime. Any tips on overcoming this?
  15. That is outrageous behaviour. Sometimes we have to bf or otherwise the pain is ecruciating. That aside - spraying aerosol on someone is assault - what if they'd had asthma or an allergic reaction? Something i'm not clear on though - did they actually think that it smelled? Or was this attack simply a reaction to the fact that she was doing it in their changing room?
  16. Is this the one you can puncture cans with? If so - it's a must!
  17. Obvious of course - will the locals/regulars become 'The Village People?' Sorry, sorry, sorry!
  18. Have a lovely and v. relaxing time!
  19. I'm doing the 11am - you?
  20. Ah sorry - here's the link: http://www.mothersinc.webs.com/ Best bit about it is that they look after the kids for you. Not in a 'we tolerate kids running about' way, but an actual feed and entertain them way!
  21. Snowboarder - me too! The last few films we've tried to see with toddler I've spent most of the time either: - apologising to our neighbours as she climbs over their laps - running up and down the stairs, hunched over like Quasimodo, after her - likewise with the big, as she sees it - running track, just in front of the screen - or playing with the automatic doors into the car park (after I've totally given up!) Does anyone know what age they actually start behaving and watching the film? I've seen the first 10 mins of so many films now! ClareC - Greenwich, Brixton and, I think, CLapham all do 'Big Scream' films. It costs a pound to become a member, then you can go until your child is 1 year old. Just double check my info when you get a chance as the site is down at the mo, so I can't double check myself. http://www.picturehouses.co.uk/cinema/Greenwich_Picturehouse/Whats_On/Clubs_Groups/Big_Scream/ But there's a film every Wed at 11.30 and they have a good range between the popular blockbusters and more high brow stuff. It's hiilarious going there - women with their boobs out bfing and babes crawling everywhere. Totally chaotic, but very friendly and welcoming. I've seen the odd chap there too - but they kept a very low profile and sat very low in their seats ;-)
  22. Bumpy - are you doing the Mothers Inc massage at the weekend?
  23. Ah yes - I omitted the 'drawing on the TV, jumping on the beds, waking daddy in the morning by repeatedly slapping him on the bed with the waste paper basket' side of things. I'd second the dolls house - we've a Peppa Pig one. It's hideous - but she loves it. And Grandpa Pig drives a train called Gertrude! Also, she loves dressing up in my clothes and using my make up. I now have make up brushes dripping in lip gloss, and am waiting for her to go a**e over t*t on the stairs with my high heels on. Thank heavens for stair gates - 'cept she's figured out how they work now. D*mn.
  24. Seconded - being ill on a flight is awful. Thank go*dness it was only for the last couple of hours. I had salmonella on a flight back from Switzerland when I was a child (from stroking cows on the Jungfrau and then eating a picnic) and they had to let the plane land while I was still in the toilet - eurgh. Get well very soon - I guess it's a blessing you didn't all get it at once. Someone can play nursemaid each time.
