And had things gone awry, I have no doubt you would have expected those same nasty, terrible medical people to step in and help you.

  3. Also a favourite trick is to ask you for your most recent bill, so they can tell you "how much you can save". Don't do it. On that bill is the meter number and your details - all they need to switch you without you knowing. And some of them will do it.
  4. A case where there are no winners. I understand the parents fighting for their child, but I have no doubt the medical staff at GOSH have his best interests in heart as well. The US doctor is offering, at best, a 10% improvement. That's 10% of not much.
  5. I would rather change the law that put the onus on the rider that, if they are not wearing a helmet, any injury from a crash in a chase is presumed to be their fault, not the police. Major part of the problem solved.

Can't agree RH. The first paragraph you quote agrees with your conclusion, but the last line definitely agrees with UG. Especially when you read the whole section and see each paragraph is a separate policy.
  7. I was thinking along the same lines as RD and realised the last set stuffed that up. I think it's 12. I'll let you work out why.

Whole spices lose flavour as well, but much more slowly.

In better news, Vince Cable is now in charge of the Lib Dems. Hopefully he can kick start the fight against Project Economic Suicide.

Dear BBC, I have a wonderfully cunning plan that would both get Danny Dyer off the TV and save the BBC over ?200k a year. Can you guess what it is? Regards, L Oz
  13. Spice powder mixes lose their flavours quite quickly on the shelf, so I find that the spice pastes are a good middle ground alternative to buying/frying/crushing spices yourself.

I suspect he'd want at least a quarter-million. Anyway, would we really miss all these people? Can you honestly say you actually recognise each and every one of them? The Beeb has released what the big money earners are getting paid. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-40653861 The debate has been around the male/female split, but I think that misses the real point: why are the Beeb dishing out such big salaries? I can sort of understand some of the 'names', but there are some real surprises in the list. Like the bloke from Casualty on nearly ?400k. Half a million for fronting the One Show. EastEnders actors on hundreds of thousands. Newsreaders. Sporting presenters. People get paid less than that to run large businesses. The PM gets paid less than that to run the whole damn country. Now I don't begrudge them a good salary, but I'm thinking ?80k, maybe ?100k. Seems to be a lot of silly money being paid. And most of them we'd hardly miss if they were replaced tomorrow. And there is a very long line of talented people that could.
  19. Golf is the the most wonderful, frustrating, amazing, terrible, brilliant, awful thing you can ever do. You can go from heady highs to brutal lows and back again in such a short space of time, it's probably the sporting equivalent of manic depression.
  20. Back in the early 90's my sister took me to the Nelson Mandela concert in New York. I really only went because I heard they were offering a free Nelson Mandela. They had a song about it and everything. Never did find out where they were giving them away.

And not in competition with you. Are they making any money, though? It's all very well having a bunch of regulars propping up the bar, but with rents these days, it's usually not enough.

  24. First Direct. Great service and if you actually need a physical bank, you can use HSBC branches. Savings rates are a bit poor, though.

Sorry, but are you actually inviting people for a physical confrontation because they disagreed with you on a forum?
