Your writing is a bit over-excited and difficult to read, but it sounds like you are saying that TUPE is useless and gives no protection? > as for Eton in capitals those boys have no class > except their own, dont let your imagination run > away with itself. You need to learn to play the ball and not the man. Judge Cameron on what he does, not which school he went to. I suspect you know less about Eton than you do about TUPE.

Sadly, I think the Jedward song may do well. It has Eurovision stamped all over it. The UK has never quite understood what a Eurovision song should be.

Not sure why Cameron and Osborne's school is of interest, especially as you felt the need to put it in capital letters. Sounds like you just want to whip up a quick class war in place of decent debate. Anyway, TUPE covers Terms and Conditions - salary is not always part of that contract and future raises in salary may just never happen. The consultation period just gives the employee the right not to transfer, in which case they will probably be made redundant. Also, pension rights are specifically excluded from TUPE. Really, the main benefit of TUPE is service length should you be made redundant. Whoopee.

Seems strange for Cameron to rip up a piece of Thatcher legislation. I know he was looking at the redundancy legislation, but that's a complete joke anyway. I've seen a number of redundancy rounds over the years and the 'consultancy period' is done for looks - nothing ever comes of it.

Would CCTV had prevented this? It's strange how CCTV seems to be considered as the default solution to everything. Had there been CCTV then the women would probably have been attacked by men with hoodies on.

I think you'll find James Murdoch will take over the reins. And he's quite a chip off the old block.

I've got it. I get the standard estimated speed for my distance from the exchange (just over 4 meg). In over three years it has gone down just once and one phone call fixed it. It's cheap. The unlimited package is, indeed, unlimited. Can't say I'm disappointed, really. Which is annoying as I rather prefer to dislike everything Murdoch does.

Actually, I'd have hoped that the council would be pro-active enough to do just that. -

DJKillaQueen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It's also a bit naive to blame high rents on HB as > though cheap mortgages and other factors > particular to speculation in housing as a > commodity had nothing to do with it. Sort of true, but there is also a supply/demand situation here - if landlords can charge higher rents because more money swilling around the system, they will. Charging ?400 p/w for a badly maintained flat only works if someone can pay it.

I'd love to see more council owned housing and then get manage it well. No long term leases, just housing allocated on a best-needs basis. I don't give a damn if you've lived there for 20 years and the neighbour is your best friend - council housing should be seen as a benefit allocated to those that need it the most. Be they British, European, Nigerian or whomever. And I'd like to see the gradual phasing out of HB (in parallel with more council housing). As I've said before, I think HB just distorts the rental market, pushing up rents and therefore meaning more people needing HB, pushing up rents further in an ever increasing spiral.

Considering that, apart from the standard bin emptying, etc, I get feck all from the council for my ?1000+ a year, so it did make a nice surprise and they were probably in the area as they do DKH park occasionally. So for an hour or two's wages they cleaned up an entire street. What would you rather them spend the few measly pounds it cost them? I consider that less of a waste than the current drive to feed rich kids. -

She was a leader - you may not have liked where she was taking the country but you knew damn well what her strategy and direction was. And you knew who was in charge. Compare and contrast with the wishy-washy, go-where-the-wind-blows, rudderless "leaders" we've had since.
