Perhaps by making billionaire tax avoiders pay up?? Those who haven't left the country to live in luxury elsewhere, of course.

ETA: I have occasionally removed cookies when I was having problems logging into a particular site, but I haven't done the whole lot at once .....

Or is what you are talking about something different? On my old laptop I used to occasionally defrag etc, but I haven't done anything like that on this one ....

  5. I use Firefox as a browser on my laptop. For some time now I have had terrible problems with it hanging all the time. If I open a new tab, it takes ages to actually open the page. I have googled what to do and have also looked at the Firefox help, but I don't really understand it (anything I have done has made no difference, and nor have Firefox updates). I did try a different browser (Opera) but it seemed really complicated to get my email synched in it (I have four email addresses for different purposes) so I gave up on that. I would prefer to stay with Firefox because I am used to it. Can anybody explain in very simple non-techy language how I can sort this out? I never used to have this problem, so I have no idea what has changed. I use Chrome on my mobile, which is quick and unproblematical :)
  6. I would be careful before making the leap from DMC. I moved from DMC some time ago to a surgery in Herne Hill (I am within its catchment area), because I had been impressed by the receptionists, the general vibe, and a GP I saw there (I was there for a clinic she runs). It also had high ratings. I have also since heard from a pharmacist that people are happy with this surgery. I have been there a couple of years now, I think. At first things were fine, but I gradually realised that actually they weren't. The receptionists/admin are still great, and I don't have problems if I need an urgent appointment or telephone appointment, or even a not particularly urgent telephone appointment. However I have been quite ill this year and last year, and I have not been happy with some aspects of the actual medical care, for three separate issues. Ironically, I was quite happy with the medical care I had at DMC, but I moved from there because of the admin side. So be careful you are not going from the frying pan to the fire ..... I would have moved back to DMC, but I understand the most highly rated GP there is on sick leave? Also, consider the distance from your home to the surgery. When I was really ill, I had to get a taxi to the Herne Hill surgery, whereas I could probably have just about made it to DMC (with a bit of help).

I would be all in favour of compulsory voting in this country (with possibly some sort of get-out as for conscientious objectors in the war? I admit that I have not thought this through at all :)) ) But the whole voting system needs to be overhauled first.

I would prefer they were rich stones, who can afford to lose 99% of their money and still be very rich indeed. I would prefer that they weren't poor stones, who can ill afford to lose any more than the Tories have already squeezed out of them.

  12. I can second the recommendation for Daniel. He is aan excellent chiropractor.

If the latter, they must have loads of different people dealing with complaints. However surely somebody should be logging them and yes, should notice a pattern.

Sadly the meal we had on that occasion was very disappointing. Hopefully an off night, but it hasn't made us inclined to order from Ganapati again. It wasn't helped by the fact that one of the main courses they sent was wrong. They sent the right one very quickly and let us keep the wrong one (it had been opened, anyway) but that was a bit annoying. As it turned out, the one we hadn't ordered was the best of the three. I've always liked Ganapati's food, so it pains me to write this :( I assume they have a different chef at their takeaway restaurant, which is in a different building and different road to their eat-in restaurant, so maybe that could explain it?

Gather in Bellenden Road does both refillable food and cleaning products. Organic Village has had refillable wine for ages, I think. I haven't actually tried it though. Is it any good?
  19. That's very heartwarming!

  22. Well I think it must be, because there was a notice up saying that the pool was closed due to the water temperature.

There are relatively few shops, restaurants and cafes there, and surely if you are going there to shop or to eat/drink you are going to spend most of your time inside the shops/restaurants/cafes? Except on market days. Unless you are sitting on the seats outside The Palmerston (which are for customers only, of which I have not been one since it changed hands) or on the seat down by the photos. Which people do anyway, though the road is not closed off. Have I missed something? Quite probably :)

Yodel however do still take a > signature. Should you want an accurate appraisal > of the various courier companies, then just PM me. I try not to use Amazon, but I have had deliveries from them. I can't remember who was the courier and whether they wanted a signature. I've just had a parcel from Hermes, who did require a signature. The other side of this issue is that some people claim they have not receive items when they have. I understand that this has been a particular problem with eBay. It has put me off selling anything on eBay, as I have read that eBay always sides with the buyer. I don't know if that is true.
