  1. Thanks, I just generally prefer to read things than watch videos, but it's not important enough to ask the cathedral.
  2. Does it still contain a working phone? If not, no reason to be there. If so, does anybody ever use it? If not, no reason to be there. But some people (eg homeless people) may not have a mobile and might need access to a phone in an emergency if there was nobody else around? I can't think of any other reason. Maybe Oru can shed some light? Or BT, if that still exists?

    Oh Rachel....

    The thing is, who cares?
  4. I don't understand this. Either a driver is in a bus lane or they aren't. If you are in a bus lane you are liable to get fined. I've had a fine myself. I was in an unfamiliar area and obviously wasn't deliberately in a bus lane, but that's absolutely no excuse. I don't believe Southwark is "chasing down every possible opportunity to find the driver whatever the apparent motivation." It's a bit like saying you should let a thief off because they were a bit short of money.
  5. Years ago I had a sparrowhawk in my very small garden. I heard a terrible noise, looked out of the window and saw a starling being held down. I went out, and the sparrowhawk flew off with the starling 😥 I used to get loads of starlings in my garden, and after that incident not one of them ever came back.
  6. When did today start? Midnight? I'm not aware of having "reacted" any more than usual! I've never had this message before! I don't count! I never knew this limit existed! I blame the short days! Too much darkness! Too much opportunity to scroll aimlessly on my mobile!

    Oh Rachel....

Something to do with the press, perhaps?

    Oh Rachel....

Politicians, eh. They must wonder why they bother trying to help other people by standing for election. Well, the ones who don't go into politics to make money from backhanders and dodgy connections and rambling speeches about Peppa Pig. But then mostly those ones don't get found out. They know they are doing wrong, so they take care to cover their tracks.
  9. 🤣 Well, I can apparently "react" provided I take up a whole other post to do it. I wonder when "today" ends, and what is my daily quota of "reactions"?
  10. Well, it seems to have been publicised by the Met themselves, if local residents are invited to take part. I doubt if many people driving down Barry Road today will remember reading about it on here, if they even ever see the ED Forum! How's it going, btw?!
  11. The suspense is killing me. And I don't even like Tesco 🤣 and I can't remember the last time I used an ATM 🤣
  12. There will be tickets for sale on the door tomorrow. Door 7pm, live music starts 8pm, tickets £18 Get there early to be sure of a seat!
  13. Yes, the choice of words was strange, but so far as I could see they were correct English?
  14. I rarely iron, so my massive ironing board is just taking up unnecessary space. Does anyone have one of those little ones that you can use on an ordinary table?
  15. It's happened twice today, I've never had this happen before! Here's the second one. All I did was try to agree with a post in the lounge!
  16. Now I'm having my hand slapped by some forum bot 😮 All I did was try to add a laughing emoji to ianr's post. This is obviously a message from the universe to tell me to get off my phone and get back to working my way through my very lengthy to do list 🤣 ETA: And it's just happened again when I tried to agree with a post in the lounge. OK universe, I give in. Back to the hideous task list.
  17. The link doesn't work for me.
  18. Yes I did, in case that wasn't clear from my posts above. What reasons do you have for thinking that English was not the first language of the person who put the survey together? (And even if it wasn't, how would that be relevant unless it made the questions hard to understand?) I don't think the issues with the survey stem from a language problem. I think, though I may be wrong, that they stem from an unfamiliarity with survey methodology, and not properly thinking the process through. Yes you are right, I missed that because in each case I could only find one possible answer I could give, but that of course doesn't mean I couldn't have given more.
  19. They can, but it's very hard for people to admit they were wrong, so they tend to close their eyes to it. There is a name for that, which I knew many decades ago but can't now remember.
  20. The one answer allowed per question is possibly understandable, to make the next stage in their research easier. The actual list of possible answers isn't. I would be interested to know why this company was chosen to work on this campaign, and on what grounds, and whether any other companies were considered. Maybe the OP could comment on the reasons for the wording of the survey? TBH it doesn't fill one with confidence if they don't even check that their links work when posting on a public forum under their company's real name. Maybe they are a newbie or someone doing work experience? If so, shouldn't someone more senior have run their eye over the survey before it went live? Very sorry if that sounds harsh. The actual ideas for the campaign are fine, and different skills are involved for that, which might explain things to some extent.
