  1. I haven't had any problems, except when the online appointment system is full, but I have found if something is urgent they can fit you in if you phone. I think they probably keep a few spaces free for urgent last minute appointments, but I'm just guessing I've found it quite convenient being able to email questions which previously I would have had to ask at an actual appointment, and I've always had a speedy reply. You can send photos as well. I don't know about forms and letters. That sounds bad. Have the admin staff changed recently?
  2. The yoghurt was very sharp (not sure of right word) and if memory serves quite runny. Nothing like the stuff sold now. There was pink as well. Strawberry? That must have had sugar in? Too new fangled for us, but my Auntie Grace down the road used to get it 😂 Well, you had to keep up to date. Sorry, couldn't resist.
  3. Off topic, but when I was a kid in Streatham, long ago, apart from the milkman (rarely if ever milkwoman), who also delivered yoghurt - very exotic - in little glass jars, we also had regular deliveries of coal, bread and cheesecakes (not the kind we know now, they had coconut on top), fruit and veg, and paraffin (both pink and blue). I'm not entirely sure we have lost "something amazing" by buying milk in shops. The glass bottles were left on the doorstep and the metallic tops were pecked through by birds getting at the cream/milk. Or else the bottles were nicked. And then there was the rag and bone man.... bell and horse and cart, just like Steptoe. God I'm old. We didn't have supermarket deliveries. We didn't have supermarkets. I remember the first supermarket opening in Streatham. It was quite amazing having to walk round and put your own shopping in a basket. As you were ..... Sorry OP and admin.
  4. Has anything changed that you know of? Has your present insurer given an explanation? Has it only gone up in SE22? Sorry for all the questions! My premium was massively increased a few years back following subsidence in my front bay, though I did subsequently get it cheaper through a specialist broker.
  5. Well unless we know the cause of each crash we can't really know if there is anything which could have been done to prevent it?
  6. We don't (I presume, I might be wrong) know the cause of the latest crash. It's easy to jump to conclusions. The driver could have had a medical emergency.
  7. Upstairs at The Castle in Crystal Palace Road is a nice space. It has been refurbished. It has a small bar and a small dance space. Robert the landlord is helpful and friendly, as are the bar staff. I will PM you.
  8. 😮😮😮
  9. I got this interesting email today. At least some (albeit apparently very few) shoplifters seem to have been arrested, though I wonder what the criteria were. Obviously that is only the ones arrested as a result of this particular initiative. Met Engage Logo Joint Partnership Success – Operation Roscoea, Southwark We’re pleased to share the success of Operation Roscoea, a joint partnership anti-social behaviour (ASB) initiative carried out in Southwark last week. This multi-agency operation saw eight partner representatives from six support organisations conducting outreach patrols alongside officers from our Trust, Confidence and Engagement Team. These joint efforts led to numerous new referrals into support services, ensuring vulnerable individuals are connected with the help they need. Neighbourhood policing teams also carried out joint patrols with Southwark Council wardens, who now hold newly designated enforcement powers. This enhanced collaboration has strengthened our collective ability to respond to ASB and community concerns. Operational highlights included: Six arrests made by officers from North Southwark Town Centre Team, St George’s, North Walworth, Faraday, Newington Ward, Chaucer, and the Proactive Crime Team: 2 for possession of a Section 5 firearm (CS spray) 1 for possession of Class A and B drugs 1 individual wanted for theft 2 for shoplifting ASB enforcement activity included: 2 Community Protection Notices issued to persistent offenders Numerous intelligence reports submitted to support ongoing investigations This operation is a testament to the dedication and teamwork of our local officers and partner agencies. Thank you to everyone involved for your continued commitment to making Southwark safer and more resilient. We look forward to building on this momentum in future deployments. 10. Maybe because you would have thought such an incident would have been publicised, or someone on here would know what it was? On the face of it it seems odd, especially if they were on blues and twos, if there was no serious reason for it. Unless, as I said, it was some kind of training exercise?
  11. I am doing an art course. If anyone has any large canvases (used or unused, A1 size or larger), I would be happy to take them off your hands if free or cheap! Sorry but not painted with oil, as I am mainly using acrylics and collage, and oil underneath would not work, but to the best of my knowledge I can paint/collage over anything else. Please PM if you have anything suitable! Thanks!
  12. ?????? I have read through this thread and I am totally bemused. It had previously seemed to be a helpful thread, and I don't want to send it any more off topic by responding to the last two posts by other forum members. Could someone (or admin) please PM me if they think I have stepped out of line and explain why, as recent comments seem to be directed at me and have nothing to do with the subject of the thread. This is a forum, and as in real life people are all different, with different personalities and sensitivities, and react in different ways, but the direction this thread has taken is very disappointing. ETA: If the two previous posters want to discuss the points they have made which aren't relevant to the subject of this thread, perhaps one or both of them could start a new thread or threads in the lounge? But probably this thread has come to an end anyway. Thank you to the other posters for your useful information.
  13. Eh? I was just clarifying who was eligible for free Covid jabs, because your post wasn't clear (or at least, it wasn't clear to me). I don't want "the last word". I am not trying to be argumentative. This thread was not about expressing opinions, it was about giving information, and to the best of my knowledge the information you gave was wrong. That might matter to somebody relying on it and thinking they weren't eligible for a free jab. If you want to get into a fight on here, please go and do it on a more appropriate thread.
  14. Yes, but "the rest" are not ALL under 75s, which is what you said. There will be people under 75 who get it free because they fall into a vulnerable group (or are a carer). Sorry to be pedantic.
  15. On a training practice?
  16. Why on earth would you want to go to the US at the moment?!
  17. I think it is not just age related, it is if you are in a vulnerable group eg because of a particular medical condition, whatever your age?

    Cone of shame 🤣🤣🤣
  19. Thanks ianr. Does everyone get the same Covid vaccine? Re your other things, I don't think the NHS records are very joined up in various respects, despite (or because of?) the various NHS and GP apps. If you are in the vulnerable group for flu, and also for Covid, is there any reason why you are choosing to have one jab but not the other? Your choice of course, but as I understand it, both flu and Covid are expected to be very prevalent (can't think of the right word) in the UK this Winter?
  20. I agree there are other options, but apart from cutting off bits of the body, which is probably not going to happen here, at least hopefully not in my lifetime, I wouldn't call them"stricter"! Unfortunately ultimately it may depend on what is cost effective in terms of implementation.
  21. This year it was Pfizer. Last year was Moderna and I was quite ill after it for the first time. I think last year was the only time I have had Moderna, but the illness may have been nothing to do with what kind of jab it was, I don't know. I have no idea whether everyone gets the same one in any particular year, but I'm sure someone else on here will know!
  22. What "stricter" consequences could there be for shoplifting (or any other crime) than being put into jail, do you think? Though our prisons are of course full enough already, without more people being shoehorned into them.
  23. Returning to the original question, I had my jabs at Tessa Jowell yesterday (the adjacent pharmacy). I was early and I was seen on time, and it was a lovely pharmacist who did them, but the admin beforehand (not by her) was a bit iffy. I was given forms to fill in but not told what to do with them afterwards, so I presumed I had to take them into the consulting room, as the rest was supposed to be filled in by a clinician, but no! After some time had elapsed and I had found a seat (there was no information on where to sit either, so people were sitting in two separate areas, neither of which had many seats) my name was called and the forms were taken behind the counter. Be aware if you don't have an appointment - even in the relatively short time I was there, three people turned up without appointments having been sent there by a GP (I presume) or having previously been asked by the pharmacy to come back at a different time, and they were all sent away again because the pharmacy didn't have enough flu vaccine until the following day. I have no idea if this was due to a misunderstanding on the people's side, their GP's or the pharmacy's, but none of them were very happy, and one lady said she "couldn't keep coming back" 😭 At least one of them didn't seem to understand what he was being told, possibly due to a language issue. I felt quite sorry for the pharmacist, who was giving jabs all day on top of her usual workload but still managing to stay cheerful! Though she wasn't the one dealing with the unhappy people! I have a sore arm from the Covid jab (I chose to have the jabs in different arms), but no other ill effects so far, touch wood.
