They seem to move quite fast, so it's easy to miss them probably. Also the little ones are almost like large moths as they zoom across. I stay in my (very small) garden quite late hoping to see one. Usually I don't, maybe because I give up and go in too soon.

It is quite expensive, but if you only need something for a one off task, it's probably cheaper than buying it. Probably cheaper to buy if it's something you will be using on a fairly regular basis, assuming you have got somewhere to store it. -
It all seems very odd. There were observers. Did they not do their jobs properly, or what? How come nobody noticed this breach of rules?

External widow? My mind is boggling. Very sorry, I couldn't resist. -
Pathetic because ..... why? She's not thick skinned enough for your requirements? You have no idea what's going on for other people, personally or professionally, in the public eye or otherwise. Strange first post.

I think this part of the discussion needs to be moved to the lounge! It's got nothing to do with James McCash and/or his wearing of a jokey Christmas jumper!
-
I'd say the far left had pretty good reasons to be angry, but that discussion is one for the lounge.

Where was he wearing it? Presumably not when he was in an official capacity? I think the Tories have well and truly f***ed themselves, tbh. Having f***ed up the country in the process.

Good for him.

It would be very difficult indeed to rip it off in passing. They would find it very difficult to get it over my head, I would have thought? However I stand well away from the edge of the pavement and keep an eye out. Many bus stops don't have indicators of bus times, including the one outside the Post Office, which I use a lot. If I'm going somewhere which is only served by one of the buses from that stop, I don't like not knowing whether I will have to wait two minutes or twenty minutes, and I often forget to look before I leave the house. What more do you think could be done? Hordes of police at every minute of the day standing at every possible place in Inner London where somebody may get their phone out? Obviously I'm joking, but I don't think there's any indication that the police don't take these crimes seriously. There's been a noticeably increased police presence around ED lately, and there are various police/community initiatives where you can make your voice heard if you have concerns and sensible ideas to contribute. It's very easy to complain without knowing all the background and the full facts. If memory serves, and I'm sure someone will correct me if it doesn't, a previous Tory administration drastically reduced police numbers in London. Therefore it's even more important for the police to assess priorities when deciding where to concentrate their limited resources. I imagine that things like phone thefts and shoplifting come rather further down the list of priorities than things like stabbings and sexual assaults.

Police chasing young man on bike near Dulwich Library
Sue replied to Jellybeanz's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
That seems the more likely scenario, doesn't it? I suspect unwarranted assumptions have been made. What is the evidence that the car was a police car? What is the evidence that two police vans arrived later "to help give chase"? To "help"? If the car was not a police car, other interpretations of the situation are possible, as said above. It could be that the cyclist had done nothing wrong and was trying to get away from the pursuing car for completely other reasons. Who knows? It's very easy to jump to conclusions without knowing all the facts. -

I don't understand this thread. If police were involved to chase the cyclist, why does the OP say "thank God the cyclist got away"? Police don't chase random cyclists who have done nothing wrong! I had originally assumed that the original chasing car was a police car, as the OP talks about "seriously erratic and dangerous driving by the police", but it seems not? Unmarked police cars put on blue lights when they need to make themselves known. There have been quite a few around in this area lately. Surely a police car would have put on those lights before giving chase? -
Why do you say "that hasn't and won't happen"? Why do you not ask for a key, if you would "love this task"? Monica had a key before, and possibly so did others. She still works locally. If you don't know her, I can ask her how you can get a key. There is no reason why the noticeboard should only contain councillors' details (although surely it is important that those are publicised locally?) Why do you say it will contain nothing more? The Crofton Park noticeboard contains a lot of other useful community information (not from businesses) . Do you know why the notice board has been removed from outside ED station? Clearly the councillors sometimes reply, or nothing at all would have been done about the notice boards Why do you sarcastically call me "my dear Sue" and add a zzzzzz? It is you who started this thread about noticeboards, which is now on its third page, and just as your campaign is succeeding, you appear to be implying that it was a complete waste of time!

I have recently invested around three pounds in a cheap phone lanyard. There are loads of different kinds and many places sell them including eBay and Amazon. They are really easy to fit inside a phone case, no sticking required, you can still use the charging port and they are easy to remove again if you don't want it on when you are inside. I wear it when at a bus stop etc looking at bus times. It would make it much harder for someone to snatch my phone, unless they cut the lanyard.

Here we go again .... The police are involved. Why do you need a description? You don't even know why the police were chasing him. If indeed they were. I assume there are channels for reporting this to the police if you feel the driving was inappropriate for the circumstances. -
That's also true!

But what Earl said was true.
