  1. Sorry to be dim, but where has that link come from and why is it relevant to this thread? I'm not doubting you, just wondering if I've missed something above!
  2. There's something odd about the whole thing. Why has it not been in the local press? Or has it?
  3. The police have "refused to take the fingerprints from it"? That's a bit odd, isn't it? Why would they do that?
  4. I just assumed someone was having a party.
  5. So is anything if you drive into or trip over it! You would have to have pretty poor vision to trip over a bollard, I would have thought.
  6. If you read the article posted above, it is all very carefully worded. However I've found this: https://uknip.co.uk/news/uk/uk-news/peckham-rye-park-attack-man-seriously-injured-august-2025/
  7. 😮 Interesting wording by the Met. Do you have a link to that? Are they just being very careful what they say, or are there any grounds to suspect the man wasn't telling the truth? Do you have a link to that other than what's already been posted?
  8. Thank God Doris Stokes is not still alive, then 🤣🤣🤣
  9. There are planes going to more than one London airport. It's been discussed on here before, but I can't remember the exact details. Also if memory serves it depends on the prevailing wind exactly what route the planes take on a particular day, but I may be wrong there. Or maybe they vary the route so the same people don't get the noise each time? I moved here (also North Cross Road area) over thirty years ago and the plane noise has always been bad. I don't think it's got any worse, though it may have done. It has always started around 5am or a bit earlier ( on the days the planes take that route, I suppose?) Concord used to fly over around 5pm each day. That was excellent. It always seemed to be directly over my house, but due to the height of planes I guess many people think they are directly over their house! Triple glazing in my bedroom has helped, but not completely, though it wasn't installed for that reason.
  10. Yes, that was why I deleted my post! Only not in time, it seems! I realised I had mixed up two restaurants!
  11. I don't think they were armed specifically to arrest him. I think airport police are routinely armed? However I agree the rest of it was absolutely ridiculous and completely out of proportion to the supposed "crime". The Met commissioner had it right.
  12. Why is that shocking? It's a fair enough way to remember how to spell her name. It wasn't an analogy. He wasn't comparing the two people concerned or saying they were alike. And Enoch Powell was indeed infamous.
  13. You don't need to sing! You definitely don't need to sing to an audience! Listeners are welcome! The December singaround on 14 December is our Seasonal Singaround when we intersperse unison carols with individual songs. But that is probably too early in December for your guests? And we no longer sing either Stille Nacht or Adeste Fideles in German or Latin, because too many people only know those carols in English, so we felt it wasn't very inclusive for unison singing. People are welcome to sing individually in any language they want, though - and do! More info from Https://www.thegooseisout.com/faq
  14. ChatGPT recommends Sender or EmailOctopus, and gives pros and cons of each. Wondering if anybody on here has experience of either? It says SubStack wouldn't suit my needs, which seems correct.

    Insect Bites?

Sometimes what's biting you can be identified by the type of bite, and if there's more than one bite, where they are and how close together, for example. You could try taking a photo (or getting someone else to) and posting it on something like ChatGPT? Or just googling pictures of insect bites in the UK? I know people put ChatGPT down, but I've recently discovered it, and it has been unexpectedly brilliant for a wide range of different things. Including reminding me what a particular cloud formation was called when I uploaded a picture (along with lots of interesting additional information about these particular clouds!) It's free unless you need a load of more complicated stuff doing. Even if it tells you you've used your quota for the day (or whatever), it generally just lets you continue on regardless, in my experience!
  16. The Ivy House, London's first community owned pub, thriving, lots going on, and just down the road in Nunhead! If this is the first time she has been to London, loads of things to see, obviously, so it would depend on her interests and how long she is here for? The more famous "sights" might appeal more than local landmarks, or vice versa, but maybe make a list of possibilities and leave it open until she's here? Some may also depend on the weather, of course, and what is open when over the holiday period. Hope you all have a lovely time!
  17. I've been using MailerLite for some time to send out Goose newsletters. I hate it, and find it hard to use, but it is (was) free. I've just had an email informing me that in 3 weeks' time the limit of subscribers for free posting is reducing from 1000 to 500. I had already cleaned up our mailing list to bring it under 1000, so that isn't an option. I know it's a service I should be happy to pay for, and I wouldn't mind so much if I felt it was easy to use and produced a professional looking end result, but it isn't and it doesn't. Can anyone suggest a better (and preferably free) alternative? Has anybody tried Substack?

    Fly the flag

Well, as expected you haven't actually answered my question. Sephiroth is right, there is no point trying to discuss this with you. Your reasoning is as bad as your spelling 🤣
  19. Does anybody have a pasting table they no longer have a use for?

    Fly the flag

I know, but I was interested to see his reply. Though that will probably be incomprehensible as well.
  21. The hospice shop takes items as "rags" which are in too poor condition to sell, so I presume if they find clothes they can't sell amongst donations, these are also treated as rags? I presume they go somewhere to be recycled in some way?

    Fly the flag

???!!???!!!! What an extraordinarily nasty post Could you explain your reasoning please? Particularly the "kissing ass" part and the description of myself as a "wicked person." Thanks.

    Fly the flag

I hadn't read that article. I think I read it in another article or post quoting figures which were possibly wrong. Many of the people protesting their "unhappiness" appear to be racist. They don't appear to protest about white immigrants from, say, Australia. Nor do they come out waving flags to protest about, say, domestic violence by white men, unless you have evidence to the contrary?
