  1. Is your objection to the spelling of through, or to the whole phrase (which I think is useful)?
  2. Might it be a good idea to contact the Royal Opera House, if Robin Lee appears to work there? He probably won't see a post on here?
  3. I would have been interested in this, but it seems extremely expensive for a one hour online event? Also, there are free self assessment tests online for things like autism.
  4. Crikey. Well as I was inside the house, I only saw it through the glass in my front door, so probably it wasn't strictly "ball lightning" as such. It certainly wasn't moving about! And if it struck Alleyn's, it can't have been in two places at once. But as I said, it "looked like" there was a huge ball of light outside in the road. I was very glad I wasn't standing outside, put it like that 😂 My partner heard the bang in Surrey Quays!
  5. No, and it's very easy to register with another one. Just check you live within its catchment area, research its reviews, then just walk in and ask to register with them. They do all the rest. You don't even have to tell your old surgery that you are leaving. I've done it twice. I honestly can't understand why people put up with such extremely poor service. The NHS is in a bad state generally, I know, but nevertheless some GP practices seem to be a lot better than others. Please put your health first!
  6. Years ago there was something similar locally, but out of a bright blue sky, so completely unexpected. A bolt from the blue. I heard this massive bang, the loudest thing I'd ever heard (until today!) I went out to investigate and found lightning had struck a house in Whateley Road (I think it was Whateley Road. Other people may remember, as quite a few other people were also gathered around). The lightning had gone down the chimney. The fire service were there for some time. It was quite exciting, though I don't suppose the people in the house it struck thought so! https://www.essearth.com/what-is-a-lightning-bolt-from-the-blue/
  7. I was standing in my hall and it looked like there was a huge ball of light right outside in the road. It lit up the hall 😮 Then the immediate bang 😮
  8. I have an Openreach person installing fibre in my house at the moment. Having turned up three hours early with no warning, he has been far from helpful. He told me I couldn't have the router where it is at the moment because he would have to move furniture. Not heavy furniture. Nothing I couldn't move myself. Said he could not lift floorboards. So I am ending up with a router at one end of a quite long house, instead of in the middle, with a WiFi extender somewhere, who knows where (I presently have one in the hall). If I don't get a good signal in all parts of my house, I shan't be happy 🙄
  9. I'm about to get fibre via Plusnet/Openreach, and I've always been very happy with Plusnet's customer service. But you can Google reviews of all the providers. I suggest haggling hard once you've decided what deal you are after. As Penguin says, there have been a lot of issues with Virgin in this area.

  12. I moved from Elm Lodge (having originally moved there from DMC in Crystal Palace Road) but for different reasons, which I don't want to post on here. I'm now with The Gardens, and I'm very happy with everything there. I had an appointment yesterday which covered a range of different things, everything was fully addressed including referrals where necessary, and I've just received an online survey from them asking about my experience! I'm a bit confused though why people think empty waiting rooms are a bad thing? I was seen on time, surely a crowded waiting room means people are there either early or having to wait after their appointment time? I was there very early, and people were coming in, waiting a short time and then being called for their appointment, so there were never more than maybe 3 people there at once, including me. Isn't that a good thing? In the "old days" before appointment systems, waiting rooms were always packed because you just had to turn up and wait your turn, which could be a very long wait. I don't know how the GPs managed!
  13. Thanks! I have used them to get a prescription in the past, when everywhere else was closed. Very useful to know, and as you say the P13 runs past it, down Streatham High Road.
  14. Where is it? I can't see an address on the website, though there must be one on there somewhere!
  15. That's very clever, but crikey they are expensive!
  16. Nor me, I left there years ago, even though it's just round the corner from where I live. I was at another one in between before moving to The Gardens.
  17. Tonight! This will be an excellent evening of original and unusual music! More information about the Goose, tonight's gig and our forthcoming events from www.thegooseisout.com Advance tickets available from www.wegottickets.com/thegooseisout Tickets will also be available on the door tonight!
  18. Why would they only send them recorded delivery? I used the signed for option yesterday.
  19. The physio wasn't physically based at The Gardens, just attached to the surgery rather than my having to be referred to a hospital physio department.
  20. 😢 Hope he and the bird found somewhere nice to live 😢
  21. Hi, I PMed you a while ago re this, but you haven't read the message?
