I love having frogs there!
  3. Their carrot cake is pretty good too.
  4. adonirum Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Have any of the posters on this thread ever > engaged with the traveller community, either > personally or professionally? I have a friend who is an Irish traveller. He is very bitter about the way in which his community has been treated, and also about how its members are often portrayed. Of course some travellers are thieves. So are some members of most other groups. They just commit different kinds of theft, like fraud and false accounting.
  5. The OP says "apparently this isn't uncommon". The people who you are indirectly accusing have only just arrived in the area. Edited to correct my misremembering the quote.

    Cassis query!

    Just stop right there :))

    Cassis query!

    I was joking :))

    Cassis query!

    I'm finding it enthralling :)
  11. KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Fair enough point, I do feel sorry for travellers > too, though. So do I. Their traditional way of life has been completely wrecked by fairly recent laws. If there was not so much prejudice against them, there would have been an outcry.
  12. Jules-and-Boo Wrote: - > > If it doesn't benefit them to steal it, then it > would reduce the thefts The trouble is, there's no way of knowing before they steal it whether or not they can use it .... So unless everybody locked their phone to be unusable to a thief, they will just go on taking the chance, I guess .... ETA: Oh, and years ago, when I was younger and fitter, I did a self-defence course. I tried out what I'd been taught on my then partner. He had me overpowered in about a zillionth of a second :(
  13. KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How can the height of someone's hedge be of any > relevance to a passer-by ? KK it isn't the height, it's the way some hedges take up virtually the whole width of the pavement. If you are pushing a buggy, for example, you have to step into the road to get by. It is at best annoying and inconvenient, and at worst dangerous.

Are you sure it was not someone going through the bins but wearing a yellow jacket (or whatever) in an attempt to look less suspicious?
  16. I believe it was restored by the original artist, with the help of local schoolchildren. I stand to be corrected. There was discussion on the forum at the time, so I'm sure somebody else will remember or be able to find the thread. If that's the case, I'm not sure it would do a great deal for the self-esteem of the kids to paint over their efforts.
  17. Moto G4 or G4 plus. I've got the plus and I'm really happy with it. I bought it direct from Motorola (now part of Lenovo) - there are several options re storage, RAM etc plus you can customise it for colour etc if you want. I have a separate rolling monthly contract for the calls, texts and data. https://www.motorola.co.uk/products/moto-g-plus http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/motorola-moto-g4-plus-1321486/review http://www.trustedreviews.com/moto-g4-plus-review It's far and away the best mobile I've ever had (but then I've never had an iPhone). The Plus has a better camera and fingerprint recognition but if you're not bothered about those then the straight G4 is also excellent value for money.
  18. I almost want to check it out to see if it can possibly be this bad. On the other hand .... A warm juice and a ?2.50 doughnut served without a friendly smile ..... Maybe I won't ....
  19. Wagas? As in Wagamama? Hope not. I think it went way downhill years ago. Unless it has miraculously dragged itself up again?
  20. How do you make out that Franco Manca is marketed at "people of a certain income bracket", Louisa? It's one of the cheapest places to eat round here, and certainly very good value for money given the quality of the food. We don't all want to eat ultra healthy vegan stews and salads every time we eat out. I don't see what is so extremely unhealthy about a sourdough pizza. And Franco Manca sell very delicious salads to accompany their pizzas, anyway. ETA: And for what it's worth, on the basis of my limited experience of Subway I think their food is pretty crap and not good value for money.
  21. I don't know the shop. What is it exactly that they are? Presumably not just a greengrocer, so what is their USP?
  22. Robert Poste's Child Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- The bottom line is usually anywhere > except DMC! I phoned DMC for an appointment last week and got a cancellation the same day, in fact in less than an hour's time. That's not bad. However I still intend moving (haven't got round to it yet) as their turnover of GPs seems to be really high. I have no complaints at all about the medical treatment I have had there, I would just like some continuity of care.
  23. First post ..... Are you connected with this clinic in some way? You seem very familiar with all the treatments it is offering .....
  24. dimples Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > so must have been caused by either fungi or even > could have been something digested before coming > into the park ?! Big coincidence though if two dogs in a relatively short space of time were taken ill with similar symptoms shortly after being in the park, both having eaten something before they went into the park? Possible, obviously.

Fantastic cakes, huge portions, and friendly service. The savoury stuff on the menu looked yummy too, will try that next time!
