  1. People who respond to an ad on here with a curt PM along the lines of "When can I collect? Details please." Sorry people, no way am I giving anything to you, even if nobody else replies .........
  2. Selling/giving away two lots of items on here yesterday and today to two people who both seemed really happy to take them. It was win-win in both cases and I'm so glad they went to nice people who will appreciate them!

Somewhere easy to park near Deptford Market? :))

They are round, aren't they? How do you fit things into them without wasting a load of space? Not saying you can't, just interested :)

By the time you have emptied it at one end, stuff is building up at the other end. Unless there are two of you,it holds everybody behind you up, especially when you have to pay as well

Well each small increase is obviously - small. But added together they become noticeable. About now.

No, after 21 December which was the winter solstice! :) But it's only recently becoming noticeable, to me anyway :)

    Dead fish

Probably dropped out of somebody's bag who was looking forward to them for their supper. What sort of fish were they?
  11. Some honeysuckles grow very fast, eg Lonicera japonica Halliana, which is semi-evergreen. In any case you could plant more than one plant. But it is very easy to propagate, so you could start with one plant and soon have more than enough to cover the fence.
  12. The council wouldn't cut down trees for no reason. Maybe find out why they did it before accusing them of vandalism? Mature trees may sometimes have to be cut down because they are diseased and/or unsafe. Also in some cases they may be affecting nearby houses, eg causing subsidence. These days councils are more careful about planting small suitable street trees than they were in the past.

It was put out this Winter and is being eaten, but good advice! Never seen any greenfinches round here, sadly.
  14. Southwark used to have some kind of neighbour mediation service, but it depends on both sides being willing to use it. I can see why your neighbours would be upset at not being consulted initially, as although you paid for the fence it obviously directly affects them as it adjoins their garden too. I had to alter plans for a fence height because neighbours objected (though most annoyingly, they moved shortly afterwards!) However your neighbours now seem to be behaving most unreasonably, and it must be awful for you. Southwark Noise Control could help if the music is disturbingly loud. Keep a diary of when it happens and for how long, which will help if the situation continues. But I would check out mediation. I think it is free. ETA: And I agree that in case the situation escalates, which let us hope it won't, it would be a good idea to tell the police. Who may also be able to advise you how to take things forward now. Good luck. Edited again to say, you could cover the slatted fence quite quickly with something like ivy or clematis Montana or honeysuckle or jasmine, which would give them the privacy they want (I imagine it is being able to see between the slats they don't like?) Alternatively, with something like a woven willow screen. And, if they are tenants, approach their landlord. And as with the noise, keep a detailed diary of every episode and every interaction with them. Date, time, what was said, what happened.
  15. I have a niger feeder, and the seed is being eaten although only one goldfinch has ever been spotted (by my partner, grrrrrr, as I bought the feeder and seed specifically to attract them!) Are there other birds whose beaks are slim enough to get through the feeding slits?
  16. The days are getting lighter :)

  19. Aren't the articles in the magazines you want online somewhere?

So if it's none of your business, why do you spend so much of your time slagging off people who don't shop/behave the way you claim to? It's boring, tedious and offensive. Why don't you find some other forum to voice your views, and give us all a rest? ETA: And who else on the thread has agreed with you, apart from the person who seems to agree with you on everything?

Go and start another forum with no "clogged up" threads because nobody is sufficiently interested to post on them? Good luck with that 😀
