  1. His time would be better spent working to save endangered species - like the stag beetles which may hopefully take up residence in the logs to be "tossed" by the council into the adjoining nature reserve. Let's hope the "tossing" doesn't crush any of them. Very tempted to use the "tossing" word again but slightly changing the ending, but I'm uncharacteristically resisting. Hard :))

  3. The Edgware Road/Park Lane/Victoria/Vauxhall route comes through central London but avoids the congestion charge altogether at all times and days (provided you don't stray from the route by mistake, as I did once). If you look online there is a map.
  4. I'm not sure how a petition is going to help? Have you spoken to Southwark Noise Control about it? If they receive constant complaints from you and your other neighbours, and the noise really is that loud, that would seem the best way forward.
  5. Lewis, I've asked you twice now and you haven't replied either time. So I'll try for a third time. Who has lied to you? Who has laughed at you? If in fact nobody from either the council or the church has lied to you or laughed at you, do you not think you should apologise for writing in a post above that they have?
  6. Does anybody else remember that short-lived place selling oysters and champagne at enormous expense which opened in the market which was there before the Brick House?? They were in the space on the left just as you went in. They seemed to think that people would pay an arm and a leg to sit in the less than salubrious surroundings of the market and sip champagne. And there was a stall just selling oysters in the market for a time, as well (not the same people).

As we don't have either of those shops round here (yet) I don't shop in them, let alone buy their prosecco :)) And PLEASE PLEASE stop writing "would of" and "could of" instead of "would have" and "could have", it's driving me (even more) round the bend :))

Will try that, I love anchovy sauce :)
  9. Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Oysters are eaten to > make the person feel good, they enjoy the process > of eating it and the price, that's my opinion. But Louisa, that may be your opinion, but can you not see that it is a gross generalisation and basically just ridiculous? Just because other people also have stupid opinions doesn't make yours any less stupid, sorry. Can people not eat something just because they like it? They may be eating it because they can afford to, but that's a completely separate issue. I won a bottle of champagne in a tombola thing in the Summer, and it was a revelation. I can tell you, if I could afford it I would drink champagne, and it would have nothing to do with the price. It would be because it tasted a bloody sight nicer than prosecco from the Co-Op :)) ETA: On the other hand, I don't like caviar, and wouldn't eat it even if I won the lottery :)

Simple as that really. .......... > it's just sad that I can't have an opinion > without being shouted down and made to look stupid > for that opinion. That's all. > Well if you have ridiculous opinions like the statement in bold above, you can't really blame people for thinking you are somewhat stupid about some things. Read it again. I suggest you have no evidence whatsoever on which to base your opinion, which is presented as fact.

Now they are a > luxury and cost a relative fortune.. especially in > restaurants. > > You can buy lamb shanks really cheaply in places like Iceland. They're something like a fiver for two big ones. And Indian restaurants quite often have lamb shank on their menu, which is not particularly expensive compared to the other stuff. And you can buy cooked mussels in Sainsbury's for ?2 for 200g which are excellent for fish soup. I had forgotten you could cook oysters, maybe I need to try them cooked and I might change my mind :)

They will take it from private property whether they know it's up for grabs or not, if it's out the front and visible from the pavement. And if you remonstrate they will tell you to mind your own business. As happened to me.
  16. The council appears to be making a distinction between preparatory work and other work. So I'm still not clear who you say has lied to you and laughed at you?
  17. edborders Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > People lie to you then laugh at you cause you > believed them. > Who has lied to you, exactly? ETA: And who has "laughed at you cause you believed them"? How exactly have they laughed at you? .

It turned out that the council had removed it in order to restore it. In this case, the ground is probably wet/waterlogged because - it has been raining. And as penguin68 has said above, graves are driven over every time mowers mow the grass. What is your point, exactly? I'm not sure quite what you are hoping to gain by continuing to post your increasingly hysterical posts on here?

  24. And so it goes on, over and over and over again ...... ETA: I'm referring to edborders' repetitive posts, not anybody else's.

I've found all the (three?) DIY shops in East Dulwich helpful, but Shaun's went well beyond the call of duty to help last time I went in there.
