Alex K Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Case rested. Thanks, Sue, for confirming the > point. xxxxxx Can't find any other examples then, Alex K? Not even out of my thousands of posts? If not, then I'm afraid I consider that my sarcasm was/is well founded :)) ETA: Out of interest, perhaps you could count up the number of my nearly 12,000 posts since 2006 (a lot, yes, but then I've always used my own name on here) which you consider support your "case". Not that I'm very clear exactly what your "case" is. And then let us all know what percentage of those nearly 12,000 posts they amount to. Otherwise, I don't think your "case" can be "rested" really, can it?

Film about how the Dulwich street art came about
Sue replied to IngridB's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Are you limiting numbers on the walk, Ingrid? Because if not, then yes I'd rather change my walk day to one of the September ones ..... -

She has lived round here a long time, and I think it's very sad that she feels that way. Whilst to some extent there is a fine line between expressing one's opinion and being perceived as a bully, I think it's clear that some people very often overstep the mark. And hiding behind a forum pseudonym makes it easier to do that. As regards recommending or suggesting avoiding local businesses and tradespeople, sadly I have now become very cynical about posts doing either, particularly but not exclusively if the posters have either not posted before or have posted very little.

A credible magazine for East Dulwich/local area?

With regards to editing, I guess we can > all have our own opinions on that subject. What > has the organisation of the Goose Green Fair got > to do with anything? xxxxxxx You called SE22 "an ad mag". I think that is an unfair description. It contains a lot of useful information, including about upcoming events, new shops and businesses, and photos of past local events, plus articles by local people. To say "its look and feel is inadequate at best" depends entirely on what you feel is "adequate", which is a matter of personal opinion (though I agree the layout could be improved in places). To imply (as you do in your subject header) that it is not "credible" just because you want a magazine with a different focus and contents is unfair. My reference to the Goose Green Fair was because Angela Burgess, who edits the magagazine, lives locally and contributes a lot to the local community. She does not just sit and haul in ads to put in SE22. -
StraferJack Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Over the years, many business owners have engaged > on here with some grudge holders and it?s pretty > obvious straight away who is in the right. xxxxxxx I was about to post the same thing. If these threatening people choose to complain on here, they will almost certainly just make themselves look ridiculous - as no doubt they will realise in the cold light of day. Seems like there were quite a few witnesses to the incident, too, some of whom probably read/post on the forum.

It was all interesting stuff, but I don't think it's the kind of magazine Dog Duck is talking about ..... -
A credible magazine for East Dulwich/local area?
Sue replied to Dog duck's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The SE22 magazine has a great deal of useful information in it, and Angela does a great job not just of editing the magazine but of co-ordinating the very successful annual Dulwich Festival Fair on Goose Green (for which so far as I know she does not get paid). Dog Duck, you say you are looking to produce a magazine that is "properly designed, properly written with engaging features, creative photography, illustration, profiles, general local interests and a thought provoking read." Ok - great idea. How do you intend to finance its production and distribution unless you have paid advertising? And what's wrong with local businesses advertising in a local magazine, anyway? Seems like a good thing to me. Or do you intend to make people pay for your mag? Good luck with that. -

Apparently the more people who want one in their road, the more likely they are to get one, so let's hope we live near each other!

What isn't "credible" about what we've got at the moment? I'm bemused. -
Was the giraffe not in a tree on Peckham Rye last Saturday, or am I imagining things (quite likely)?

I flinch every time I walk past certain new-build flats round here, for example.

I looked out of my bathroom window yesterday and saw a large fox poised at the highest point of the ivy growing at the bottom of my garden - which is very high. I knew they climbed over walls etc, but didn't realise one could get that high! He/she jumped (or climbed) over before I could take a photo. This was in broad daylight in the afternoon!

I see the OP had originally posted (in his/her second post) that they "didn't" work for a rival estate agent - but has now removed that statement. Can we therefore take it that - in fact - he/she DOES work for another local estate agent? If so, perhaps he/she would like to share with us which one it is, as I for one would like to make sure I never use it?

Cheaper too! xxxxxx We already have this forum, with a "What's On" section - what's the point of duplication? And as Foxy says, we already have an excellent mag - SE22. Lots of local businesses etc use twitter and facebook too. Anything else, and we're just heading for information overload/meltdown :) -

Things to do in London for 4 and 6 year olds?
Sue replied to Sue's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Well, they've been and gone and I just wanted to say thanks so much for all your suggestions! The boat trip never happened as the 6 year old - who can't yet swim unaided - refused to go on a boat without her flotation suit on, in case she fell in ..... reassurance that this was highly unlikely was in vain! Their individual highlights were seeing "The house where the princesses live" (Princess-obsessed 4 year old's description of Buckingham Palace - seen only from the outside I hasten to add) and seeing "A man with no head, only I think he's got it hidden under his coat" (6 year old's description of one of those weird human statues on the South Bank) :)) They both loved seeing virtually anything from the top of a bus. Brockwell Park and Archbishops' Park playgrounds were both favourites - thanks for those suggestions. They were generally underwhelmed with the interesting (to me) vegetables and fish in Brixton Market, despite being told it was where Rastamouse lived, and attempts to find granddaughter-acceptable food in Brixton Village failed (we ended up in a fairly dismal Wetherspoons, where the 4 year old worked her way slowly and carefully through most of a very large adult portion of fish and chips :)) ) We saw many bits of London, and the older one in particular was quite interested in the history around things like The Monument. Anyway, thanks again - still lots of things left to do on their next visit! -
This isn't just for Lewisham - according to the website it's for any London borough. What a fantastic initiative. I'd love one of these bike hangers in my road!
