Can't believe I've never seen him around here before :)

Anyone else using Plusnet had connection problems in the last week or two?

Did anybody else see a man with a large white parrot on his left shoulder (no crutch, no eyepatch, no seaweed in evidence) walking up Upland Road (Crystal Palace Road end) around 1pm today? We'd only just got to the Actress so it wasn't an effect of the excellent Broadside :))

You can't mistake a red kite, because of the forked tail.....

All the crows in the neighbourhood flew down and pecked all the feathers off it, so basically it has had no deterrent effect at all. Sorry, just had to share that, as you were :)

Why does the Co-op never have any food on the shelves?

Very long shot... Do you live on Copleston Road?
Sue replied to supergolden88's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Silly question I know, but can't you just go round to that address and ask? Or if you don't live in ED any more, write to them? More likely to get a response than posting on here!! Somewhat more specifically targeted!! -

Why are branches being cut off the trees on Peckham Rye Common?
Sue replied to hpsaucey's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
They must be tree specialists, surely, otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to touch the trees? Is that naive of me? When I worked for Islington Council, the tree team were passionate about the trees in the borough, and I'd have thought it was unlikely Southwark were different? Surely they wouldn't just lop off branches for no reason - why on earth would you do that? -
JosephWilkes Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > There's no reason why it couldn't have been a > buzzard, xxxxxxx Yeh that was what the link in my last post was supposed to show - sorry for casting doubt earlier :)

I've never had the slightest problem understanding any of the staff in the Co-op, and it seems like you're just being - well, let's say unpleasant. -
Extract from Wild About Britain Buzzard thread: Hi, I work for Greenspace Information for Greater London (Greenspace Information for Greater London), and part of our remit is to collate information on London's wildlife and open spaces. The information we hold comes in from a range of sources, from GiGL partners such as the London Boroughs through to members of the public (see our website for an up to date list of our partners). I've had a look at our information and we have over 400 records of common buzzard in Greater London, the most recent record having been sent in a couple of months ago. The main data contributors in this case are The Royal Parks, Greater London Authority and London Natural History Society. We are always keen to receive more information to help us build up a better picture of London's wildlife, so if any of you would like to tell us about what you've seen please visit our website. Once you have registered as a user you can submit your sightings online and have a look at some of the data that we already hold via our WIMBY tool. Kind regards Mandy

Well it pretty certainly wasn't a Golden Eagle, and red kites are easily identifiable by their forked tails. Did it have raggedy wings (technical term :)) ) at the edges? I know buzzards are common in the country, but one in East Dulwich??

Sounds odd to me, surely young foxes don't normally die of natural causes?

Here's the other clothes moth thread and Here's the link to the Pest Control Supermarket I recommend

Huguenot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'm probably worng, but I seem to remember that > Sue was the mothinator. > xxxxxxx Yep :)) There's a recent thread (not recently started, but still being posted on) on moths in the ED issues section of the forum, I'll go back and look up the link to the place I used for my (successful - last year anyway!) extermination campaign :))

Are you sure it was a buzzard? http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/b/buzzard/feeding.aspx I've had a bird of prey in my garden eating the starlings, but it wasn't a buzzard. Can't remember now what it was, it was a few years back.
