m7post All of your past posts are political, i smell a sneeky campaign move. That type of thing can go down quite badly round these parts. -

Nothing personal *woof*, but that room has teeth! The family room is more like being surounded by purring mummy cats.:))

Slummy Mummy confessions......
Pecanpie replied to helena handbasket's topic in The Family Room Discussion
helena handbasket Wrote: > Does parenthood make you and your partner a team? > Or like my case, has self preservation divided you > a bit? When our first was three weeks old we realised we were turning on each other and the words of Pheobie from Friends rung round our heads, 'thats what they want you to do'. Many years on we are a good team, but it took a LONG time! Ps Sid and Andy, mummy eyecandy, no brainer! Mr Tumble however, no no no! -
Our boy calls his balls rocks, it was funny when he was tiny, now i'm not so sure.

Wow, thanks for so much input, some of these posts are really moving. I thought twice about posting this topic as an emotional issue. I know so many people going through behaviour nightmares, some have given up a social life as their kids are so hectic. All these comments have touched on similar issues, i'm going to summarise for my own head. Gifted kids possibly need really firm boundaries as they test them especially well, it's never too soon to start. Kids, gifted or otherwise need structure, and need us to be the parent. I remember the shock as it sunk in that we had not just had a baby, we were going to have to be parents, sounds stupid but we really had not realised. I know its a but depressing but Ondine had a really good point. Some survey rated Richmond as having a stunningly high insidence of depression in their teens. It was the middle class kids who were more likely to take drugs etc. Maybe we do need to protect our kids childhood and hold a firm line with them?

Sorry not to be clear, was having a bit of a vent! I am blessed with a very normal ability, normal behaviour child (generally good but far from perfect). I sometimes look after an officially challenging 5 year old, the childs parents think behaviour is due to 'bright child' issues, and i feel like sending in supernanny, your comments will give me more patience. Thanks

Marmora/Mundania/Therapia road area - what's it like?
Pecanpie replied to Sanne Panne's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
For my very city family it was like moving out to the country. It's probably safer to move here once your kids are already settled in a school as the closest schools are so popular that you might not get in right away. The 1930's places are totally under rated, they have real charm, grandeur, large gardens and proper foundations. They are also probably 200k cheaper than their older rivals. -
I third Neutrogena.

toddler being allowed to pee in the street...
Pecanpie replied to SCSB79's topic in The Family Room Discussion
When a toddlers gotta pee, a toddlers gotta pee. I don't find it disgusting. You can sometimes find out the sex at 12 weeks, when my hubby left the room i said to Dr, 'that looks like a willy', and she agreed, saying it definately was. Having had more than my fair shair of scans in my experience some people were lovely, some were downright horrid, and some were totally incomprehensible. Hope you have a happy scan.

Private vs State education (Primary level).
Pecanpie replied to fruitcake's topic in The Family Room Discussion
A good friend has just gone from working in state schools to private and she says now that she has seen the difference she would do anything to send her child private. 'sigh' -

Heber uses a couple of entrences and it works well. Very sensible point i thought, lets keep our recreational rage for people who deserve it.

I had a couple of valuations and the agents would have said any figure they thought i wanted just to get the job. I think it might be rough out there. -
