There are 2 rides organised for Feb14th, both starting 10am from Peckham Square, Amanda’s ride to the Yurts Cafe (Limehouse) and a ride to Battersea Power Station with Bruce. Feb 14th. Ride1. They house a Social Enterprise Community Cafe operated by The Royal Foundation of St Katharine. If you have never been there, try to join this ride. Start 10am Peckham Square, next to Peckham library and Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre, SE15 5RY. OUTWARD: start Peckham, over Tower Bridge and through Wapping. RETURN: Thames Path down the Isle of Dogs to Greenwich, either crossing via the tunnel or if not working, DLR via Mudchute back to Peckham. Plan to be back by 1pm. About 13 miles. Amanda leading. Outward via Cycleways 4 and 14 to Waterloo, then Westminster Bridge, Victoria St and back streets to the Garden. Return via Horseferry Rd, Lambeth Bridge, St Georges Circus, Cycleway 10, Bermondsey side streets and Southwark Park. Aim to be back around 1.30. Flat route, mostly cycleway or quiet streets but some busy stretches (e.g. Parliament Square, Lambeth Road). With Dave P. leading set off through the park turning up to Brenchley and walking up and over One Tree Hill. Note, the walk has series of steps and may be difficult for heavy bikes. Having learned about the Oak in Honor Oak, ride down Honor Oak Park and climb up Blythe Hill, peak number 2. From there on to the Waterlink Way and Ladywell Fields. We next do the steep ride up to Hilly Fields and take a well-earned break at the cafe there . Finally, on to the 4th peak, Telegraph Hill, maybe checking out lower park if we have time as well as the upper. End the ride through Nunhead and back to Peckham Rye Park. Return via Vauxhall Pleasure gardens, Newport street, Then cross Westminster bridge. Pick up C3. Stop at new riverside micro-park, Tyburn Quay on Bazalgette Embankment. Continue C3, cross over London bridge. Jacqui leading, about 10 miles, allowing 3 hours so nice easy pace and time for breaks. Completely flat. Mostly quiet streets, a couple of tricky junctions. The new ride will be from the opposite end of the borough. Outward, by train then a largely off road return route. Second ride 17th Jan. First Saturday in 2026 – first Healthy Ride. Nice easy loop from Peckham via Burgess Pk and Canada Water. Jan 3rd ride. Bruce leading a 10 mile, flat ride. Start down to Burgess Park then back streets to Cycleway 4 at St James Rd. Short stretch to Southwark Park then ride round the park and cross along new path to Canada Water. Coffee stop at Corner Corner. Next to Thames Path at Brunel Tunnel Museum. Along to Surrey Water then up to Stave Hill. Warm up by running up Stave Hill then bike through Russia Woodland to Greenland Dock. On via South Dock to Cycleway 4 on Evelyn St. Use crossing to access Deptford Park then through new development (Neptune Wharf) to corner of Folkstone Gardens and up Surrey Canal Road to Bridgehouse Meadows. New cycle lane and crossing to Brimmington Park then back streets to Peckham Square. Lots to see, no tricky crossings. Get 2026 started with this relaxed social ride. The (in)famous Christmas Lights ride on 23rd, then Werner’s Boxing Day in the City ride, and of course still time to head to Spitalfields with Amanda on the 20th Dec 23rd. There will be a led ride back to London Bridge for anyone going that way. It will be dark. There will be lots of traffic including every tour bus available. There will be loads of pedestrians all over the place. There will be garishly decorated bicycle rickshaws. It is horrendous. But it is also great fun. Make sure your lights are fully charged. Then decorate your bike, lots of fairy lights please. Put on that red cycling jacket with the white trim. Only rule is – keep up. Do not lose sight of the group. One is a Jamie’s 3 hour circuit to Spitalfields Old Market and the other a short ride led by Jacqui (first time leading for us) to the Snoopy Trail in the City. Nov 29th, Ride 1. Mostly quiet streets, few major crossings, traffic usually light on a Saturday.. Flat ride, easy pace, suitable for all levels of cyclist. Come and join us. Nov 29th, Ride 2. A led ride will be available for anyone needing to return to Burgess Park. We'll go via C10 and cross the river at Blackfriars Bridge. There we can pick up the Snoopy in the City Sculpture Trail. The trail is designed for walking so it's very much a stop-dismount-start ride as we approach each installation. Plenty time for photos. The Traill ends near St Paul's Cathedral. From there we'll stop at the reflective pool at 25 Cannon Street and take a look at Finsbury Circus before finishing the ride at London Bridge. An easy fun ride. General. Often in the news, seldom in a positive story. But we rode there in March and all survived unscathed (see report). Always willing to push his luck Mike K. is going to lead this route again. Start 10am at Cutty Sark Gardens, next to the foot tunnel entrance. Follow the Thames Path passing Greenwich University, the O2 and the Thames Barrier. Turn off at Galleons Reach and continue to the top of the Tor. After enjoying the view continue the ride to Belmarsh. For the return will take the Thames path to Woolwich Arsenal for our coffee break. Then proceed along it returning to the Cutty Sark at approximately 1pm.
