I didn?t get it yet. Are we to basically continue everything we are doing, but no longer are shielding? Do you think it?s something to do with not everyone having a second vaccine yet (in that group)?

Research on the Vaccine and immune suppressed people
muffins78 replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
A little while ago I read that immune compromised people may need a third dose of vaccine for example. Nonetheless the article is a good reminder not to be complacent just because you?ve had the vaccine. In my mind I was beginning to think that it will be all okay after the second dose, but perhaps not. I wouldn?t not take the vaccine. Either way we?ve to be careful and mindful of others still. There are many good reasons to take it, and for some there are real reasons not to have it. -
Ours works out about ?200 per flat, but we organise it ourselves. But our quotes really do vary!

DMC contacted me in January via text to ask whether I wanted the vaccine, saying that they?d be in touch once an appt was available. subsequently I got an appt in Kings. I don?t know whether DMC passed my details on to Kings, but the Kings message did not seem connected to the DMC invite. If DMC/kings invites are not connected, I haven?t heard from DMC since.

I?ve an autoimmune disease and and on immune suppressants. I understand that many things can impact/trigger flares etc, but I didn?t overthink the little that I did read, because any of the drugs I?ve taken to date had many risks attached, and the benefits outweigh the risks, especially if a flare is pretty bad and you have no quality of life at that point. I did see that there was consideration of three injections for people with compromised immune systems, but I cannot remember where I read it unfortunately. From what I understand also, they are testing various drugs used for autoimmune diseases to treat COVID (assuming I didn?t misunderstand).

Good idea for a thread. I had Pfizer too, I was very tired within a few hours and it lasted a couple of days. None of the side effects are negative insofar that everybody will react differently, and it shows that the injection is doing it?s job.

Building insurance on a one bed flat in victorian conversion ?600!!!!?
muffins78 replied to sarah-marie's topic in The Lounge
Is the 600 per flat? It may be high but the calc done for our building is based on the rebuild valuation. When we used an agent to manage, they didn?t shop around for quotes. If you think it?s high, ask them did they go out for quotes? What?s the rebuild value and when was the last valuation done? They should be completed every three years by a qualified surveyor. Another impact on cost, may be previous claims and the excess on the policy. I hope this helps somewhat. -
I assumed my next appointment was 12 weeks, but it?s 10 - just added the weeks up! This is for Pfizer.

Just had it in Kings, really well organised as you go through the process. It took under 2 hours, but you don?t feel the time. The experience in terms of what was been done during the time is similar to what everyone else has said!
-
That?s good to know re the process, it does seem quick given all the stages. I?ll let you know what the Kings one is like on Friday. It feels a little surreal after so long, if that makes sense...

I?ve had a text from kings today - initially thought it was linked to my DMC text, but actually they?re not. So I?m guessing until you have the vaccine and are ticked off in some system, you could be invited by whoever may have your details. Kings definitely would be more convenient - but fortunate to have it done too :)

I am with DMC - and they text to ask did I want to be vaccinated, that was Thursday and nothing since (on shielding list). I assumed they were vaccinating - but I gather from here, they are not? Is it only the Pfizer vaccine being administered at TJ? That?s fine, I?m happy to get either, I?m just interested to know.
-
Thanks Sue - that was really helpful and I wouldn?t be surprised if your friend due the operation is offered via the hospital if there is available vaccine. It kind of makes sense to vaccinate people before they go into hospital. However there are so many people that it makes sense for, when you think of all the different groups of people who are still public facing.. it?s a real puzzle, to say the least. By coincidence I got my text today, but via the GP - it was different to your text - I had to just respond to say I agreed to get vaccinated and they?d ring to make appointment!
-
Sue - did your text come from your GP or hospital, or via the shielding list? I got another Christmas card today, it was very exciting :S They say you need the letter - that will be late given the post situation. I know you can book online - do you think the online database is driven by shielding list aswell?
-
Yes not complaining- just trying to figure out next steps seeing as the process has appeared to change - without us realising :) Southwarks waste team have been fantastic throughout the pandemic

I got a couple of Christmas cards yesterday and like Sue, the shielding letter arrived a few weeks after the fact. However, it?s a understandably a difficult time for Royal Mail. I missed a hospital appointment too! I saw that you can log on to book the vaccination, I?m obviously going to wait until the group 4 is called. But the shielding letters/instructions are emailed to me aswell - could they not give the go ahead to book an appointment via email? The site is quite clear that you should have a letter before making the appointment and personally I?d rather have that instruction so everyone who needs it, gets it before me

We have two subscriptions and our trees have been out over two weeks now and not been collected - our garden bins were empty! Thanks for sharing the news approach for the tree collection, we have not received a response yet!

Thank you so much for doing this again. I appreciate the help you are giving Kings on many peoples behalf. I saw an article where Kings have had to cancel/postpone urgent surgeries as a result of the number of COVID cases, so I just can only try to imagine the severe stress they are under! I?ll donate more again shortly, I wish I could do more!
-
I am just wondering if anyone knows what help is being provided to Kings at this time, similar to how this great funding worked earlier in the pandemic? I?d like to offer something to help!!

Just unlucky! My Tesco delivery message still reads the same about vulnerable group - so the driver always stands back. I?m sure some of them wear masks. My shopping still is bagged but I just put it in my own bags at the door - like yourself I can?t carry it inside!!
-
Yes my dogs went bananas last night! Normally they don?t bat an eyelid, guess it was because I hadn?t known to have them cuddled up beside me :(

I heard the sirens too, police vans (don?t know how many) sped down Underhill - it all sounded rather urgent and had me look out the window.. And yes - a siren will mean something urgent - but it seemed like a lot of sirens all at once..
