There's planning permission for 2 houses. Southwark planning site is too slow today to use, but found this link from Savills to auction the site: https://auctions.savills.co.uk/auctions/19--26-november-2024-158/3335-hansler-road-east-dulwich-london-se22-9dj-13236 Edited to add that the inclusion of lower ground floor in the planning application description indicates that basements will be dug. Looks like Fellbrigg/Hansler is up for some heavy construction traffic next year. I put a couple of feeders in my garden and regularly get sparrows, blue tits, great tits, robins and the odd goldfinch, coal tit and wren. Wood pigeons clean up the mess under the feeders. We also get noisy magpies and parakeets. On rare occasions I've had a woodpecker, nuthatch and jay visit. I also see a sparrowhawk perched in a neighbour's silver birch from time to time. We used to get blackbirds, but unfortunately I think neighbourhood cats were the death of them Hope this helps.

I was amazed to see a young nuthatch crawling headfirst down a the trunk of a tree in my garden to bully the great tits and blue tits off the bird feeders yesterday. Didn't expect to see one this far from the woods.

I nearly stood on this beauty in my garden today

Oh, so that was the council. Someone ripped some lovely flowering Toadflax from our wall and threw it in the gutter. I assumed that a child had done it. How strange?

For balance, I've had construction noise 5 days a week for the last 3 years as loft and side constructions are undertaken one by one, with added joy of being overlooked in the garden, so a few days noise shouldn't be too onerous. I do know that Gala had a team of litter pickers working non-stop the whole time I was there, so efforts are made to keep the park litter free.

Definitely a couple of swifts flying high above Fellbrigg Road occasionally this morning.

MaBaker, I've never had a reply from them, but when I reported the missing collection again on their form I got a message on their website saying that the request had already been fulfilled. Hope this helps? -

I was compelled to take a picture when passing this week. -

Something's clearly awry. I've had to follow up a missed collection report for the second week running after receiving the following message despite the bin still being full. Guess we just keep filling out the form. -

Is that music the Gala festival already?
cookie replied to Abe_froeman's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I don't think the background noise of music from 3 to 10:30 for 3 days a year is a huge deal in London. I went to the festival yesterday and it was a beautiful event with thousands of happy well behaved people. I get building noise every single day in my garden, including being overlooked by builders, but I wouldn't suggest people stop improving their homes. -
House of Tippler (and Liqourish before it) was always a nice friendly place to pop into on the way back from a night in central London. It often had DJs playing until late. It's actually a nick-nack shop now and the hole it left hasn't really been filled in East Dulwich.

Just rescued a toad from a plant pot. It must have fallen in from a step above. I haven't seen a toad in our back garden since we moved in 20 odd years ago.

I just participated too. And saw a similar bird. I put it down as a blackcap, but never seen one before. Saw more goldfinches than anything else.

PCN Peckham Rye nr Piermont Green + Lawyer recommendation please

I'm pretty sure the cameras were placed there after a school girl was killed by a motorcycle in the late 90s. Speed kills, slow down. -
Just had to look up what "gen" I am. Turns out I'm on the cusp of Gen X and boomer. Not sure if that makes me a fun vacuum or an old fogey :) I may be a supporter and regular attender of the festival, but I decry the name calling and nasty comments of some other supporters. I hope the organisers can work with the community to ensure the festival continues to go ahead with compromises if necessary on both sides.
