  1. Sash windows are quite effective at reducing heat, but they must be open at the top as well as the bottom to promote good air flow. "...they create great convection, cooling and ventilating a room more efficiently in hot weather." Home Building & Renovating website
  2. I saw this at Canterbury a few months ago. Can thoroughly recommend it.
  3. Thank you, I had such a fab time (until the last ball). The atmosphere was electric; most I've enjoyed myself at cricket for the least time. I'm sure Boycott's granny would have wrapped it up with a stick of rhubarb in two overs.
  4. It was the Thirst Dance (rectified with red wine, since you ask. Libations generally work too). Alas, no refund if a ball played on day 5, but I'm sure I'll find a watering hole.
  5. I have tickets for tomorrow. I'm off to do a rain dance.
  6. Bloody hell, this is exciting. I take back everything I said about Archer!
  7. I knew nothing about Kronstadt. Thanks for taking me down a Google wormhole, Dkh.
  8. The fragrant Nancy Birtwhistle advises this spray on site of urine/faeces to deter canines: 200ml water 50ml vinegar 30 drops peppermint extract or oil Put in spray bottle, use daily for a week.
  9. That was my impression of an archetypal fitter requesting a strong cup of tea.
  10. I'm an air conditioning installer - this is everything you need to know about getting it fitted https://mol.im/a/14875047 via https://dailym.ai/android This may be helpful (sorry it's the Daily Mail!)
  11. My lord, that was a fascinating video.
  12. Well, what do I know? Jofra Archer is in the squad!
  13. This is what someone has done in Gowlett Road
  14. "PGC, do you reckon this 'Anderson -Tendulkar' series could make Tests a bit more interesting to the wider word?" Alas no. Until it comes back to terrestial telly, I think it will always suffer from elitism(?). Excepting The Guardian, cricket is barely mentioned in other press. I am fortunate in that my daughter has just added me to her subscription on NOW TV. It has been great to watch this test; it really could have gone either way, eariler in the day, which always makes it more exciting. The only bugbear is that I am a TMS afficianado, and they are about eight deliveries ahead of the tv! I thought Tongue was excellent in mopping up the tailenders, and Duckett was a delight to watch. Bumrah and Jadeja were brilliant to see. I'm sure the Edgbaston crowd will have tremendous supporters for both sides. PS: I don't think Jofra will be back on the strength of one county wicket.
  15. I went this morning and there were loads available. Much appreciated, and be sure to trust this poster in future.

  19. Am I the only one to mourn the loss of Poundland? Will no one think of the peeps who need to buy cheap cigarette papers and filters in bulk?
  20. If you don't mind al fresco, there is a huge food market by the Royal Festival Hall: https://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/food-and-drink/southbank-centre-food-market/

  22. Shame they didn't quite reach 500. Will England declare overnight?
  23. I can't link, but Daily Mail has article on Brockwell Park possibly having to cancel events after court hearing. Just checked, Guardian has reported it too!
