  1. Can't you just stop the personal attacks, unjustified attacks on integrity and aggression now please. You have won. I have a lot of respect for James Barber as a local councillor, and it appears here he was trying to help some residents. He may have been wrong and clearly his proposals didn't go through, but i see no evidence at all that the claims which are still being repeated this morning have any foundation and just seem designed to stir up feeling against the proposals. The whole debate and 47 pages all with significant amounts of vitriol leaves me much sadder about my neighbourhood and those who have been happy to stand behind such aggressive behaviour supposedly in the name of democracy.
  2. the castle's food is not as good as it used to be when the dog was still there
  3. Charter School's exam results are here Fine results for a south london school but not in the top 10% in the country. There are a lot of measures though, peckham academy is apparently in the top 10% on one measure.
  4. you can support local businesses! small loaf at blackbird bakery 1.50. and it's not that small. they do rye some days, there's a list in the shop.
  5. in st francis' park, under the trees behind st francis' road, it looks like someone has emptied the contents of an alcoholic's house. there's a TV and easy chair and everything, and it's been there for a few years (or maybe it changes, i haven't paid that much attention). So maybe we could do a "house doctor" style makeover on this area and turn it into an alfresco bar for stressed sainsbury's shoppers.
  6. I have looked at the questionnaire that you describe if it is this one and it seems to say nothing at all about a possible outcome being removal of the fence. This matters - if you say "do you think it is worth spending ?40K on removing the fence which could be spent on other improvement to the park/local area" you will get a different answer to "what is your view on the fence from 1 - 5". Unless there was another consultation.
  7. so what is the situation - are they still planning to remove the fence?
  8. absolutely. the rules for dv are "unless you live in/very near the village or are a st barnabas church regular, don't even bother applying".
  9. the criteria are very simple for most schools at 5 year old entry, and are given in http://www.southwark.gov.uk/Uploads/File_29036.pdf. but if you are planning to enter at another time then it seems to be pot luck whether there is a space at the time. most of the primary schools are popular and good but the odd one out is goose green which is currently in special measures but still supported by its parents here
  10. i think you mean "For people living in Battersea and Clapham using Denmark Hill as a Very Slow, unreliable and Infrequent route to London Bridge and the city amd who clearly don't mind being late a lot".
  11. the previous thread on this points out that the proposals include no change in number of services to victoria.
  12. "Where are we missing? We had a banner at Goose Green roundabout, Peckham Rye/East Dulwich Rd Junction and Barry Road/Peckham Rye Junction. Posters were displayed in Peckham Rye Park, Dulwich Park and in shops on Lordship Lane, Forest Hill Rd, Nunhead Lane, Rye Lane, North Cross Rd and East Dulwich Rd. It was also listed on Southwark Councils website and in SE22/23 magazine. If we're not obvious enough, we'd really like to know where and how we could do better (given cost constraints )" Not a bad effort, I guess. Maybe you could rent space on the side of a police helicopter?! Alternatively a poster or two around the grove vale shops / ED station area would have done it for me. The garden centre, blackbird bakery, rice and peas and dry cleaners all seem to be happy to oblige. Tell me that you did this as well and I will just have to go and buy some new glasses.
  13. maybe it's just bad luck and i wasn't looking hard enough but I wasn't aware of the fete. so my request is for more flyers/flyposting please.
  14. completely agree with keef - the wine may have a nose of disinfectant with a cheeky hint of urine but the service has always been good for me
  15. there's a foxtons sold sign on east dulwich grove near the corner with melbourne grove.
