  1. There appears to be a 'fox' hunt going on here at the moment. Too many people reading a few different threads & electing to join the pack of baying hounds. I detest hunting in any shape or form, including on the EDF. Just saying.
  2. Yaaay! I'm sure it will be short-lived........ But for now, I am basking in the glory of being top of the table. (Even if it is only for one week!) http://www.4smileys.com/smileys/happy-smileys/yahoo-smiley.gif
  3. Nothing is as big as it used to be
  4. I started working at my local Woolworths in 1980. It had a deli counter, selling cooked meats, cheese etc, and a bakery that sold fresh bread & cream cakes. I started off on the sweet counter (complete with pick n' mix!), then a spell on the record counter, ladieswear & finally cosmetics/make-up. I don't think there was anything we didn't sell. It was never the same once they got rid of all the fresh food counters & modernised all the stores. I went back to the branch where I worked, years later & barely recognised it. I still miss shopping there. Whenever you needed to buy any household items, you could be sure to get it in good old Woolies.
  5. I'm all sealed in, and won't be surfacing til 10 am tomorrow morning. Good luck everyone.
  6. I don't have any either, but I would too. Just in case.....

  8. That's a really good pedigree. He should do well. I was mad about horse racing in the 70's & 80's (used to follow John Dunlop & back all his horses!) All those names bring back some really good memories. Especially 'Mummys Pet' who was around the same time as 'Mill Reef' 'Brigadier Gerard' & 'My Swallow'. Those were the days!
  9. I would post the comments above in the property section. Somebody with a flat to rent might see it & be able to help.
  10. I did go for a Fulham win. Almost had 3 more points on Sat. I had Man U 1-0 & Saints scored in the 89th min. Frustrating. I would have been clear at the top!
  11. I accompanied my daughter to her appointment at Specsavers, Rye Lane about 8 years ago & never been back since. We had to wait around 30 mins for her eye health check, were then sent upstairs where we had to wait another 20 mins for her sight test. Back downstairs to a queue to be shown/order glasses. We were in there 2 hours! Even when we returned to collect the glasses a week later, we had to queue ages at reception. I said never again, so when I needed an eye test myself, decided to look elsewhere & found D & A. That was 7 years ago, & I've been going there ever since. I've always been really happy with the service, all the tests were done in one room & there were never any queues. I could be in & out within half an hour. Maybe that was their problem, they were just not busy enough to keep the business going, which is such a shame. Really not looking forward to going to Lewisham. Being Boots, will probably be mega busy & a similar experience to Specsavers, not to mention the inconvenience of getting there. Not sure I can go anywhere else though, as all my records are being transferred over to them.
  12. It's on page 3 of this section, entitled ' New Morrisons'
  13. Had a lot going on at the weekend, so haven't even watched last nights episode yet...... All sounds very intriguing. Looking forward to seeing it.
  14. It's your turn Dopamine!
  15. EP, Looks like the Drama channel (Freeview 20) are showing 'Auf Wiedersehen Pet' from the beginning on Thurs nights. Thought you might be interested, as you mentioned liking the series earlier in the thread.
  16. Quids, After you've updated your predictions, sign out, then sign back in to check whether they are there. Then you will be able to see whether they have registered or not.
  17. Tonight 9.00pm Ch 4
  18. Who else went for a Hammers win? I actually predicted 3-0 to Spurs. Like I said last week, I'd probably be better off predicting the exact opposite of what I really think. Then I'd have had 3 points!
  19. As written in my previous post, wouldn't it be better to just secure the tortoise.......?
  20. Hope your tortoise recovers ok. All I can suggest is that you make him a small enclosure with secure lid & a lttle house, or buy a ready-made one. Then he will still have access to grass etc, but the cat won't be able to get near him.
  21. I'm glad it's not just me then. When I typed my postcode (SE15), it said network coverage is fine. Couldn't see anything about a faulty mast, so maybe that's been fixed & it's something else. I've also been in SE21 & SE22 today & it wasn't working there either.
  22. Is anybody else having trouble connecting to the phone internet? Mine crashed around lunch-time & still not working. Phone signal itself is fine, so can make calls etc but no internet connection whatsoever. Tried ringing them, but queues were too long & website says they are experiencing some problems, but is not very helpful.
  23. Isn't it about time some clues were posted?!
  24. That's because I had an even worse shocker!
  25. I think they are both too addicted to leave the forum! At least I hope they are, as it wouldn't be the same without them.
