  1. Exactly MM. Marriage for many is a measure of commitment to someone. Gender is irrelevant. Ignorance is dangerous but where the state endorses that ignorance, even more so. The state has a duty to protect ALL it's members from unwarranted prejudice and ignorance. Edited to add....true El Pipe and we don't have to back that far to see evidence a plenty of that. I still can remmeber the 80's headline 'AIDS is God's plague on gays' a quote from the Manchester Police Commissioner at the time. It's the culture I grew up in...one which as a teen, told me everyday that it wasn't ok to be gay......
  2. Sky looking nice and clear out there.......
  3. To be honest SF and as a gay person myself I find your reasoning a bit offensive. What possible threat can any gay person have to the church apart from stirring the rampant homophobia of some of it's members. There are gay christians as well, who have as much right to be represented and served by the church they follow as anyone else. The church should be dragged kicking and screaming out of it's backward attitude. Are you really arguing that prejudice should continue because some members of the church (and it may be most for all I know) think it's ok? Mind you, looking at the furore over female priests in some quarters shows just how backward most of it is. What part of you thinks that serves society well? Are you aware that suicide rates amongst gay people are almost twice the average? Have you never stopped to think that institutional prejudice contributes to that? And you should have a look at the origin of 'marriage'. If you did you will see it had little to do with any church and everything to do with 'ownership' of property, inculding the wife. As has been pointed out above, the proposed legislation will not force churches to marry gay couples anyway. Good posts btw H.
  4. Played on it today and the ground is quite badly divetted in parts which is dangerous for football play. Reseeding is a good idea imo but it will mean the ground will be fenced off while the seeding takes root, at some point I think.
  5. LOL I was being tongue in cheek with the gangsta bit ;-) Can't believe my faux pas with the message :-$ doh! Erik B and Rakim, more house than hip hop? This is the real deal tho..... 2Pac Hit Em Up

  19. Don't think any one tune can lay claim to being the first house tune.....it all came out of Chicago for sure. Some say it's Jesse Saunders - On and On, but listen to some rare 70's NY club disco tunes and there are hints of what is to come in there. It was just a natural fusion of the hiphop/rap and disco scenes out of Chicago and Detroit for my money.
  20. OMG I LOVE this thread...... This is one of my favs.....

  24. I think it will be part of the new plan. The problem with this junction is the weight of traffic and pedestrians using it. The addition of filtering will mean all drivers and pedestrians will wait longer to get through/accross the junction but it should help traffic turning right to do so safely. The junction has had many changes over the years. Removing the ability to turn right apart from travelling east for example is one change. The addition of bus lanes is another. Much poor driving through the junction emanates from drivers impatience and unwillingness to follow the rules of the junction and no amount of tinkering I think will stop that. I personally think that at peak hours this jucntion has over reached capacity and solutions are limited.
  25. Yes the accident data is pretty compelling. Here are the minutes of the CC meeting in 2010 where the planned schemes were introduced..... CC Minutes
