  2. Just to say I?ve already found a fab local primary school for this to go to. Thanks!
  3. Hi all, Having a bit of a clear out of my boys? things and we have a lot of Lego that is no longer used. I was wondering if anyone knew of any nurseries or primary schools that might be interested in it. I?m not sure I?ve got the instructions for a lot of the kits which is why I thought it might be more useful to top up a big box of Lego in a school/nursery. Do get in touch if you think it might be of use.
  4. Someone broke into our bike shed last night and stole my husbands bike. It?s a white genesis croix de fer 10. Please keep an eye out for it. From seeing many other posts like this is sounds like there?s been a spate of stolen bikes.

  6. Hi there, I was wondering if as a community we can support the NHS staff in our area and how best we could coordinate this. My sister and partner are both A and E Drs in the West Country and pulling long shifts and then finding it hard to buy food which I imagine is the case for some of our NHS families here. Perhaps a group of us could help with food shopping, even dropping off meals for our NHS staff. I know there are already groups reaching out for those self isolating and our more elderly neighbours but thought this could be a useful thing for us to do. Am trying to think how we could best coordinate this and how we can reach out to those that need a hand. I have a friend at Kings who is going to reach out to colleagues there but any other suggestions would be great.
  7. Please don't employ this plumber! Got him in on recommendation from a friend (one of the lucky ones where he finished the job), but he left our toilet in bits promising to come back the next day to finish off. Took payment( and he wasn't cheap!) then stopped answering calls and only got in touch with him when calling from a different number. As with other posts we have been fobbed off with various excuses and he has never returned.
  8. Just wanted to say thanks so much for all the suggestions. We are just back from going on the boat and cable car at North Greenwich. Was brilliant fun and so quiet, we got a capsule to ourselves just as you said! We've also been to the Horniman, woods and CP dinosaurs which kept everyone busy. The biggest challenge is stopping my two year old from tugging at my eldests sling and wanting rough and tumble and being a generally boisterous 2 year old boy! Plus the 4 year old keeps forgetting he is injured and so is still climbing things. Best tactic at the moment is painting his toe nails whilst watching Frozen which I am also enjoying! Meant to say in first post as well that Kings were outstanding both in a and e and fracture clinic. So lucky to have them on our doorstep.
  9. My son broke his collar bone yesterday one week before his 4th birthday and I was wondering if anyone had been through a similar experience and had any advice to give. He has a very boisterous 2 year old brother and is normally very sporty himself. Am wondering how to keep him entertained for the rest of the holidays. We need to avoid playgrounds and busy places but also have a two yea old in tow which makes things like cinema trips less easy. Was thinking horniman and Vauxhall city farm great options but can anyone think of any others? Many thanks in advance
  10. I took my two boys (3 and 1) today and it was fab. I'd really recommend it to all. Little babies were loving it as were pre schoolers.
  11. We are in the process of getting a commissioned piece of work through Revived London. Having seen all the pieces in Sally's house that she has created and fallen in love with several we really wanted something but like pickle we have no space. Then remembered that she can do wonderful things to pre-existing furniture. Very excited that we can revamp an old chest of drawers and Sally has some brilliant ideas whilst keeping both myself and my husband very happy. So if you do love her work but don't think you need a new piece of furniture, do take a look in your house and see if you think anything could do with a revamp!
  12. The olde house is fantastic. We've been there the last two years with our 1 and 3 yr old boys. Fantastic for the kids as they can feed the animals, there's a pool, soft play barn and a huge playground. We sent a lot to daymer bay which is about a 10 min drive away. Love it so much we've already booked next year! Have a great trip.
  13. Hiya We took our to to The Olde House near Padstow last year and are going back again this year. http://www.theoldehouse.co.uk/ I've had a few emails saying still cottages available. It's great as there are sandy beaches nearby and the farm has a pool, soft play etc
  14. We just put up an 8 footer after loving pebbles and a few other forumites trampolines. I was worried it might take over our garden nut we still have heaps of space and I'm getting a massive work out each day. We got an Atlantic Trampoline make as we could get a roof over the top as its under a big tree so we didn't want to get branches etc on it. We also bought a 14 footer from them for our place down in France and it is huge but can fit loads of us on it!
  15. Hi everyone Thanks so much for the tips. I've gone for the Yepp back bike seat, as he's too big for the wee ride seat, and a basket for now. The guys at BC bikes were superstars at fitting it all and making sure a stand could work. I think I may need to add front panniers at some point as I often need to transfer lots of books from work but I'll see how I manage with the basket for now. Thanks again
  16. hiya Just wondering if anyone has heard of or used any tailors that can turn a wedding dress into a normal dress? OR if not where is it best to sell a dress? many thanks
  17. Hiya Just wondering if any of you cyclists could give me some advice about biking my toddler around with my work stuff. I'm about to get him a bike seat for the back of my bike ( he currently goes on a wee ride on the front of my husbands). I'm going to need to be able to carry my work stuff too so thinking either a basket or front panniers. Just wondering what other people use and how they find the balance? Many thanks
  18. Thought I would re-read this thread as the weather is keeping us in more often. Loads of great ideas on here. My friend is also writing a fantastic blog all about her stir crazy toddler check it out for more fab ideas http://stircrazytoddler.wordpress.com/about/
  19. Hi Astrid so sorry to hear you are suffering. I had it pretty severely in both pregnancies. in terms of pilates, you do need to be careful as some exercises can seriously aggravate things and make it worse so I would suggest you only do exercises recommended by a physio. The physio loads of us locally have used is Russell at Dulwich Physio. He saved me this time as first time around I was wheelchair bound whereas he kept me mobile, using crutches to the end. his no is 020 8693 9930 a good pilates dvd is the APPI pregnancy pilates video as it has specific SPD things in it. http://www.serola.net/ are definately the best belts around if a bit expensive. way more supportive than the hospital ones. i think physios can get them at a discounted rate so do ask. http://www.pelvicpartnership.org.uk/ has loads of tips and advice and can provide counselling. Its important you see your obstratrician as well as they can advise on pain management which is pretty key to staying mobile. http://www.suelewisantenatal.co.uk/ this lady is the guru of pelvic pain. i went and saw her for one appointment and she gave me loads of tips and exercises. hope some of these things help you out. just so you know, you will bounce back. I did straight away after baby no. 1. Its been a bit slower this time around but I think thats from c section problems and a toddler to look after. all the best
  20. Just wanted to say a huge thanks for this post. The day I saw it, my son had seen the older children at his pre school perform a play and was totally captivated which made me want to take him to see some christmas shows. He had also loved seeing Hairy Maclary this summer. Anyhow, we are just back from seeing Stickman at the Leicester square theatre www.scamptheatre.com It was just brilliant. My son is 2 1/2 so was worried that he may be too young but he knows the book so well and it was perfect. Lots of audience interaction and a few things aimed at the adults too. The theatre was about 1/3 full so I expect there are lots of weekday tickets still available. they provide bouncy cushions for the younger ones. I left my 9 month at home but there were lots of younger siblings there. Am now booking up lots of the other shows mentioned above. thanks again for the ideas!
  21. One very happy customer already here. I commissioned a couple of butterfly pictures from pebbles for my god daughters and they are amazing. So nice to be able to personalise a gift and pebbles made sure that she got it absolutely perfect for each girl. Am already plotting various other gifts as she has lots of great ideas. Xx
  22. If you want to take the kids i would recommend ski Scott Dunn or purple ski. Both offer English qualified nannies and in some resorts kids clubs. They also help out with sorting out lessons and gear for the kids plus provide things like car seats, mountain buggies etc. The chalets have loads of kids toys and all the kids food is prepared for you. Also unlike so many companies I remember going with as a kid, they offer reasonable flight times not that 4 am killer start.
  23. Yes lots of different types but even if they dont have the ones you use listed, you just need to speak to their bursars department to get it set up. Ive just realised mine have stopped as on mat leave whoops!
  24. Caroline, thought I added you last night to the email list? Has it come through. Nikki and anyone else who s email I domt have, drop me a pm with it and I can update the list. Xx
