Louisa always majors on the fact that she is a "working class voice" on a very dull EDF. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that she is really an upper middle class woman who was expensively educated and who feels so guilty about her background that she posts incessantly about the virtues of working class culture.

Changes to your train times from Monday

Mike B, which route wasn't running on Thursday? It would be useful to know. -

I thought that as part of the Thameslink upgrade, the crossover at Herne Hill was going to be eliminated in order to increase capacity. Was this proposal abandoned? -
former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
Zebedee Tring replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Like so many others, James, I am very sorry that you lost your seat. If only other Councillors were prepared to engage with their area as extensively as you have. -
The 176 bus (has the service got extremely bad?)
Zebedee Tring replied to bloodoranges's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Still no evidence from DF about his "saboteur" allegation. Can we assume that we aren't going to get any? -

For the record, the Mayor's name is Sadiq, not Sidiq, Khan. But, DF, you still haven't explained why you think SK is a "saboteur", which is a very serious allegation for you to make apparently without any evidence whatsoever. -

DF, you've missed your vocation. With your "saboteur" attack on a Labour politician who happens not to be a WASP, you should be writing leading articles for the Daily Mail. -
The 176 bus (has the service got extremely bad?)

"Continues to degrade our public transport services"? You clearly haven't experienced the appalling privatised bus services in large swathes of the country outside London, DF. -
Thanks for all your comments.

Thanks for these comments. I'm watching BBC News on Channel 231 but would prefer to watch it in HD.

People may recall that a couple of weeks ago we were advised to retune our TVs and other devices running Freeview because a number of channels would be changing. Since retuning we haven't been to get the BBC News Channel on HD (107 on Freeview) on our Humax digital recorder (we use Freesat for our main TV so haven't had any problem here). Has anyone else experienced this?

We have had BT problems like this for several months. What I do is remove all the leads from the back of the router, put them back in, remove them again and put them back again. This may be more than is needed but it seems to do the trick.

Classic bullying tactic. Insult other people and then moan that you're being bullied.

2wans, one may not be a Lib Dem supporter (I'm not) but describing party members as "limp wristed" is homophobic. If you want to criticise them (and there's plenty to criticise), then do so in a constructive way. In addition describing MB contributors as "degenerate" is not on. If you want to insult people, then Twitter would be a better forum for you.

All you need is a little cat or two. They will enjoy the fun of the chase and kill, while the mere presence of a moggy very often acts as a mouse deterrent.

Thanks for your suggestions. I am due to go back to my GP on another issue, so will raise them then.

As I mentioned in an earlier post on this thread, I have had a bug/virus somewhere between flu and a cold on and off for several months, with breathlessness, aching teeth and limbs, sore eyes and dizziness among other symptoms. However, in addition during the last three weeks I have also suffered from nausea much of the time, although I haven't actually been sick. Has anyone had similar symptoms recently?

Denmark Hill station entrance shambles
Zebedee Tring replied to Ginster's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If there is a serious accident at the station because of its unsafe condition for passengers, then this thread could be used in support of any legal action against those responsible (Network Rail or whoever). -
I have had a bug/virus somewhere between flu and a cold on and off for several months, with breathlessness, aching teeth and limbs, sore eyes and dizziness among other symptoms. I have had various tests which have however revealed nothing untoward. The GP thinks that because of a minor asthmatic condition and because of the amount of preventive medication I take, I may be more vulnerable to bugs and that I may have come down with one bug after another. It is really getting on my nerves and restricting my activities, but there doesn't seem much that I can do except not overdo it and rest as much as possible.

What about the massive amount of tax that we fail to collect from people and corporations who squirrel their dosh away offshore, in complicated family trusts or in other supposedly legitimate ways? Or in the massive tax cuts given the Government in recent years? This could pay for a doubling of the NHS budget.
-
For the avoidance of doubt, I am NOT advocating cutting the foreign aid budget. And I am not a Brexiteer and therefore not one of that group who was fooled into thinking that the NHS would get an extra ?350K a week when we left the EU. The amount that was frittered away on the so-called "reforms" perpetrated by Lansley, including the creation of NHS Improvement, was enormous. There are plenty of ways that the NHS could be better funded, depending on one's political priorities, but this is not the appropriate thread for this debate.

Had the Government funded King's and the rest of the NHS properly and not dumped the crisis hit Princess Royal Trust on King's, then King's wouldn't be in this predicament in the first place. Not to mention the PFI contracts, at least one of which lasts for a staggering 30 years, which are just as much the fault of Labour as the Tories. It is reported that the new chair of regulator NHS Improvement, Dido Harding, spoke to Lord Kerslake, King's College Hospital Trust Chair, on Friday and asked him to "consider his position" in the light of consistently poor financial performance at the trust. Would this by any chance be the same Dido Harding, ex Tory peer and chum of David Cameron, who in October 2015 was CEO of TalkTalk when experienced a "significant and sustained cyber-attack", during which personal and banking details of up to four million customers is thought to have been accessed? City A.M. described her responses as "naive", noting that early on when asked if the affected customer data was encrypted or not, she replied: "The awful truth is that I don?t know". The moral is : don't do as I do, do as I say.

Transport in south london
Zebedee Tring replied to Earl Aelfheah's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
My meaning may not have been clear to you RD, but it seems to be clear to other people. I think that you're choosing to misunderstand what I said because it doesn't fit in with your views on this issue. I don't feel that I need to explain myself further on this. So this is my last word on the subject, since I have better things to do than to spend my time engaging in a semantic debate.
