Transport in south london
Zebedee Tring replied to Earl Aelfheah's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Dulwich Londoner has explained perfectly what I meant when I queried why people who are disabled or otherwise physically unable to cycle were ignored by some cyclists when he said "Maybe because not all cyclists realise that not everyone can or should cycle". I thought that the meaning of my comments was obvious and really didn't need explaining. There are of course plenty of inconsiderate drivers and walkers about which similar comments could be made. -

What about people who are disabled or otherwise physically unable to do so? Why do some cyclists ignore these groups? -
This is a thread about school coaches parking in Townley Road, not about the relative merits of private and state education. If people want to debate that topic, they should start a new thread.

I very hope that uncleglen's latest post is not typical of the average Alleyn parent - but if it is, gawd help us!

The Townley Road motorist who kept his engine running on Sunday is an example of the "screw you!" attitude that is so prevalent today and which is wrecking this country. The only way that he would change his ways would be if he was hit in the pocket, although then he would go on about the "nanny state" and "this is why we are leaving the EU" and the like.

The local Lib Dems have just delivered a leaflet about the Townley Road parking problems. This could become a local election issue next year in the Village Ward - the representation is currently split between the Tories and Labour.

Thanks for this summary of the meeting, Glemham. Did the subject of coach drivers keeping their engines running come up? That should in theory be the easiest thing to control.

Dog walkers in Dulwich Park this morning.
Zebedee Tring replied to contented sow's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Surely the point that Jennys was making that the woman was taking no notice of what her dog was doing because she was preoccupied with her phone conversation. This should have been pretty obvious from her post. -
I believe that there is someone at Alleyns/Dulwich College who is responsible for coach parking, or some role like that. It might be a good idea to ring the school and contact him/her. Whether this is successful or not is quite another matter, since this problem has been going on for years and yet nothing happens. I remember taking a photo of an offending coach about five years ago and was told by its driver to "get a life", which seems to be typical of their attitude.

Physio in ED community hospital, any good?
Zebedee Tring replied to trinidad's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The two physios who I have seen at ED Hospital have been pretty good. I'm off to see one of them later this morning. -
The very best of luck, Buddug. We will be visiting you before long.

My condolences as well, James.

recurring flu/dizziness virus - has anyone else had it?
Zebedee Tring replied to Minitoots's topic in The Lounge
I posted on this thread in April. I still have dizziness, aching teeth and generally feel very weary. This has persisted on and off since about Feb and has left me feeling down in the dumps and tense. My appetite has been affected and I have lost a fair amount of weight recently (not such a bad side effect in my case!) I'm seeing the GP again next week. Anyone else with a similar experience? -
I have mild asthma and use an inhaler twice a day. However in recent weeks I have often been breathless, have had a cough and a tight chest. I put this down to a bug that I have had for most of the last few months. But it could have something to do with the current air pollution level.

When I was a boy, I used to walk barefoot to school when the ground was knee deep in snow and used to eat only bread and dripping three times a week if I was lucky. The highlight of my life was my annual trip to the eel and pie shop. But I was happy. Now there are no more boozers in ED where you can meet the likes of Mad Frankie Fraser and have a punch up every Saturday night. All you have is them poncey gastro pubs and the like. What is the world coming to?

Thameslink phase2 survey- closes 27th July
Zebedee Tring replied to Renata Hamvas's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks, Renata. I agree that there should be 4TPH on Thameslink through at least to St Pancras and at least as many trains from DH to Victoria as there are at the moment (and indeed more). I may be wrong but when I have travelled from DH on Thameslink in the rush hour, there is quite a big exodus at the Elephant, leaving much less overcrowding. And, even though it will be necessary to change at Blackfriars more often, there will in theory be many more northbound Thameslink trains to catch there. -
Thameslink phase2 survey- closes 27th July
Zebedee Tring replied to Renata Hamvas's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Looking at the consultation document (Information sheet 7 - Kent Thameslink), I see that it is proposed that four trains an hour should run on the Catford Loop, thereby doubling the current Thameslink service from two an hour. Presumably these trains would stop at DH, Nunhead and Peckham Rye. Or have I got it wrong? At the same time I appreciate the potential risk to the Dartford - Victoria service via DH, Nunhead and Peckham Rye. -
Dovedale/Forest Hill Rd Talking Cat
Zebedee Tring replied to yeknomyeknom's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We had a cat who once said "Good morning" in an attempt at an Alistair Cooke voice, although sadly it wasn't the morning at the time. He also had a distinctive South London accent and said things like "wew", which would have sounded like "well" if his accent had been posher. -
recurring flu/dizziness virus - has anyone else had it?
Zebedee Tring replied to Minitoots's topic in The Lounge
I've had something like this since February in varying degrees of severity. Currently I feel totally knackered. My wife had it for a long time but seems to have recovered now. -
Yes, I now realise that this was meant to be ironic. However, sometimes sadly you can't tell on this MB whether this is so, in view of some of the strange things that certain posters say!

If, geobz, you think that the service from ED to London Bridge is "reliable and awesome", you clearly haven't travelled on it during the last couple of years.

Pheasant spotted on Peckham Rye road
Zebedee Tring replied to Jules-and-Boo's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I first read the thread title as "Peasant spotted on Peckham Rye Road" and thought that this was a rude comment by someone who had recently moved into the area from somewhere like Chelsea. Then I put my glasses on ... -
I said this on purpose with tongue firmly in my cheek, Artful Dogger, because I knew that someone would react like this! Of course I should have added the words "IRONY ALERT" because it was supposed to be a satire of the typical non sequitur that appears so often on this MB.
