  1. Dear Dulwich Mum, may I say it's a pleasure to be called a culchie from a jackeen like yourself. Why you call yourself Dulwich Mum beats me. That makes me Dulwich Dad. Admin can you change my name please? As for the All Ireland Final, I will admit that Gaelic football was never my game but I watched the second half of the match and enjoyed the excitement it generated and no little skill from what are in effect amateur players. Good luck with your home improvements DM. Unfortunately that's yet another area of expertees I am sadly lacking in. However if you want your spuds picked let me know. Dulwich Dad Follow me on twits
  2. Maybe the solution is what they do in rugby and have a timekeeper who stops the clock on the instruction of the ref and restarts likewise. At least we know where we stand as the time remaining on the clock is literally just that.
  3. In case you might be interested in watching something different I've just discovered the 2nd half of the match is about to start on Info TV 2, channel 167 on Sky. It's what you would call a derby match, Kerry v Cork.
  4. Hal, what is the purpose of life?
  5. Before everyone gets on the additional time added bandwagon, the 4 minutes are a minimum as in every game. Additional time to that can be added for subs, wasting time, injuries and anything else that holds up the game.
  6. I find Hal's summary very shallow. Did you ever work in the real world Hal or are you a computer?
  7. Clockwise...........what am I missing?
  8. What was the name of that film? 'They shot Liberty.........'!

I was taping the thing on Sky+ and just realised I've missed several episodes because the series link didn't work. What a bummer!
  10. That was brilliant Mick. I can remember most of the goals featured. Great to be reminded of them and him.
  11. Best

I get pi**ed off when people ask me am I from the North or the South. I usually answer the Midlands which really flummoxes them.

I did after all start the 'Is there a God' thread in the Drawing Room so this is quite easy really. Of course there isn't a 'British Isles'. You may as well call them the Irish Isles. Once the lads here have returned what they borrowed i.e the 6 counties, shure we can come to some agreement as to what to call the little place. What about the Western European Islands for starters? Who decides what's 'official' anyway? I never agreed to it.
  15. Half-wits you say.......begorrah we're not the only one's: A man owned a small farm in outback Australia. The Tax Office claimed he was not paying proper wages to his staff and sent a representative out to interview him. ?I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them,? demanded the rep. ?Well,? replied the farmer, "there?s my farm hand who?s been with me for 3 years. I pay him $500 a week plus free room and board. He also gets triple time for working on a Sunday and a slab of beer for a Happy Hour every Friday" ?The cook has been here for 18 months, and I pay her $400 per week plus free room and board. She doesn?t work on Sundays and I provide paid satellite television for free in her room. ?Then there?s the half-wit. He works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes about $40 per week, pays his own room and board, and I buy him a bottle of whiskey every Saturday night. He also sleeps with my wife occasionally.? ?That?s the guy I want to talk to...the half-wit,? says the agent. ?That would be me,? replied the farmer.
  16. Have to agree with you there Keef.
  17. I've always enjoyed going to rugby matches in Dublin,Edinburgh,Paris,Cardiff and Twickers as there is never the threat of violence and there is always good craic (as they say). The atmosphere in Cardiff is something else when the Welsh are singing, though I've been lucky enough as an Irishman to have gone there about 6 times and never seen Ireland lose. The singing does die off a bit eventually. They are sore losers IMO but don't resort to violence. Just sip their drinks quietly and talk of bad luck or some such. As for football, I've been to a fair few grounds mostly in London, though I have been as far North as Dundee.I've felt threatened at Chelsea, West Ham, Spurs without opening my mouth but not so at Arsenal or QPR for example. I suggest they change rules of rugby to allow anything but death on the pitch, introduce a round ball for the football fans and Bob's yer Uncle.
  18. I know that One Tel is cheap for international calls, if calling from home, but wouldn't fulfill your requirements if you wanted access to it from anywhere in the world. Might be worth checking out their website in case I'm wrong about that bit.
  19. When SAF plays one up front at home against anyone it's an admission of not really believing in his players being able to dominate a game. United chose to stifle the Arse and frankly were lucky to win. Maybe his tactics were spot on as they won but I hope it's not a sign of things to come. I prefer the you score X and we'll score X+1 approach to football.
  20. Frankly rugby is my preferred game (since Georgie Best gave up) though I like both a lot. However, in answer to your question TLS, what football needs is to get rid of all the wimps playing it. We need a good 22 man fight during the course of a match to settle things down. The ref can't send everyone off. This form of entertainment on the pitch will have commentators muttering for a while but will act to defuse off field tensions as at last people will have something worth watching. Perhaps the ultimate answer is to cross breed the games of rugby and football or play a half of each! West Ham v Millwall might be a rugby match worth watching. Squads would be restricted in numbers so that some would be required to play both codes. Do you like this idea or does it need more work?

Dominic We received the August edition. Not sure exactly when though. We're on CP Road.
  22. Does anyone know how Dulwich Hamlet did yesterday? Can't find the result on the net.
  23. Yes, have to admit they look good from what I've seen. Still think that a United win is the most likely result. Then a draw, but not 3-1 for the Arse.
  24. Yeah, but they're not playing Celtic, Mick!
