  2. Brilliant idea, first mate. Only problem may be some people think everything is political. But I agree a dedicated politicians section for them to let us know what they want from us and us to tell them what we want is a good idea. 3. Done it. Thanks for the opportunity.
  4. It's not you we're being pee'd off about, it's your choices. You should learn from the way we are and realise we're intelligent and caring, but questionnaires like this (and the topic was the questionnaire) was just - well, you know. *Bob* said it all, really. Don't start criticising us. That's not a great way to engage with us. You're the outsider. You want to do well, and fair do's, like, but use a different approach.

I'm just saying. I am so totally impressed. I saw the Stranglers at Hammy Odeon in 80s and they were absolutely wonderful. The next week I saw Motorhead... Heroes: the scientists who were paid by the government to tell them stuff but the govt didn't like what they heard so they fired one, and his mates resigned in support. Heroes: the kids who care for disabled parents. Heroes: Eileen Conn et al who don't just yak about it but spend time DOING stuff (oh, sorry, I meant "Eileen Conn MBE". Heroes: my mates in USA and all their colleagues who worked for free in the evenings and weekends after their days works, in the volunteer offices getting Obama elected. Heroes: people who look after the elderly in hospitals, care homes and in their own homes on minimum wages. Back to work PeckhamRose!
  6. The point of this thread was that rather badly thought out survey. Now you have had people respond to it. WHAT are you going to do with the limited amount of information you received from that survey. Knowing what our thoughts are is not enough. At least Boris (and I did not vote for him) does what he said he would, and as far as I am aware doesn't waste money constantly asking our opinions. He knows what he wants to do. He tells us what he is going to do. He's voted in. Then he does what he said he was going to do. Common sense should 'dictate' the rest. Of course Tetrapak recycling should be addressed. Ban companies from using Tetrapak. But stop asking us what we think when you know you can't do anything about it! Use your common sense. What irks you? It probably irks us too. Now, stick to the topic - the questionnaire in this case, or I'll set the Administrator on you. He doesn't need focus groups to do what he does.
  7. A phone list? Seriously what's a phone list? Do you mean a regular residential phone book or the BT on line one? That's fabulous news, most people I know are ex-directory! Good community story!
  8. a feeling of having had a good day. A feeling of having had a crap day.
  9. You say he had his own bike with him - it may have been one he'd nicked earlier! Well done for taking a note of his physicality.
  10. Thanks for the update!
  11. I think more people should have pets. Everyone in the vets was so nice and talking with one another and sharing stories and - it was lovely. Just finished hoovering my motorcycle jacket and trousers from where she just jumped out the box on the back of the bike when we got to the vets, and she clung to me for the entire time. It was a 'look, no hands' moment as she just clung! People were being so friendly in the vets! One of them even took a photo of Spacey half in my jacket and up my sleeve, which I may post on here later. You never get that friendliness and chat in Tescos, I tell ya!
  12. Thanks for this Nero. I am feeling better and shall be making another appointment at the doctors later. I agree with what you say. We're not just having it for ourselves!
  13. Of course there are. You're reading the wrong press. Trouble is, the hero-building press is not being written anymore. The old press built the heroes up when we were a much more together society merely split by class, but all watching the BBC from 'Ellagzarnder Pearless." Now our heroes are kept quieter but may include scientists who create the vaccine for swine flu, or who design our buildings (ok I love Foster et al) and save others from being blown up in Afghanistan. Heroes are created in stressful war times too, and we are not in a war enough people care about. But also we MAY just have one in Obama. We won't know till years to come when the effects of what he has done, and the effects he has on people, are more obvious.
  14. ... breakfast ate whilst catching up on EDF. Now attempting to catch cat for her motorcycle trip to vets. May need help, people! (Don't worry, it's not cruel, even the vet told me. She HATES cars so why spend money on a taxi when she can hate being on the bike for a lot less time?!)
  15. I am sure the police are on to this, and thanks curlykaren for telling us. We're glad you and baby are ok. At the next police ward panel I shall ask the police and SPCOs to tell us the latest. The next panel is in December and I will list it here nearer the time.
  16. Thanks for this Eileen. Sadly I shall be unable to attend. From the title of the thread I thought it was a questionnaire! To my mind they're different because one has a lively exciting parade of shops, and the other doesn't!
  17. Didn't Matt Monroe do it? ALways liked his voice. Smoked over 80 a day you know.
  18. The first post says "Apparently someone broke in and tried to torch it." I look forward to hearing some more facts. I can practically see it from my flat but have not had the opportunity to go visit yet. It is so sad. The first meeting the Friends of Peckham Rye Park had with the architects of the first design was of a bigger cafe but with a lot of designing in of security and safety. Sadly the funds weren'tthere for the bigger cafe (although clearly it would have been worth it since the one we have is so very popular). I do hope we hear some facts soon about what happened.
  19. Thought this was an alcohol related thread. Sorry. But just have to add, motorcyclists often stop for one another when we come across someone broken down. It's a nice thing. And I'm off to take Spacey to the vets tomorrow on the back of the motorcycle. Wish us well! Hope your cat's ok now!
  20. I am an active citizen without belonging to a hub, I just go to meetings when advertised that sound interesting and make me feel involved. But if a hub is what it takes (who finances it?) then I agree, get involved!
  21. Friend of a friend taught English as a Second Language. One day a very irritated student said "You think I know fcuk nothing, but I know fcuk ALL"
  22. I am not really a separatist but if I really could choose I would want an adult women no kids type of place to relax and unwind. And even then I'd probably not want to talk to anyone! As it is, I tend to relax very well and successfully in my own home alone with cat or with my man and cat... I think separating men and women in any arena is not right. And being an all woman venue may attract lesbians which would be absolutely fine and right, but if you're not allowing men in, why not? And I hate, HATE the idea of being marketed. Although I know everyone is. But I never see a good representation of myself in adverts and so on. (Biker, childfree, not at all well off but happy self employed middle aged woman who hates perfume and most things aimed at women!) I would never buy a car but love Top Gear! Not into complementary therapies and yoga and WII can be done anywhere - why leave out men for that? Well, you have to admit I'm honest.
  23. A scooter then. As for ?60 to insure - is that ever possible?
  24. Oh I LOVE Top Gear!! It's BACK! Of course we know not all car drivers ride like that!
  25. Do explain why not, what are you views. I was due to have mine today - but am not well, so postponed! It has been acknowledged by the Medical FResearch Council that people are reporting discomfort in their arms for up to 48 hours afterwards.
