Have been umming and aahing about what to do with all my maternity wear, baby kit and baby clothes for ages, and as we've just had our loft converted, been forced into action! I promise this isn't a stealth 'sales' pitch - I'm genuinely interested in how you would shift it. I thought about going to a NCT sale but from what I understand it's not cheap and can be really painful logistically (I think they insist on certain things, like a fully completed inventory on what's for sale, all the clothes hung up individually on white hangers etc.!). I've got a fair amount of Isabella Oliver maternity wear which I thought I'd ebay, some 'big' baby bits like the Bjorn bouncer, maxi cosi, moses basket that I thought I'd sell on the forum, then lots of baby clothes from John Lewis, Gap, JoJo etc that I thought I'd sell in bundles on ebay or individually for some of the nicer/ less worn stuff. Is this how you'd go about it? I'm not bothered on getting 'top whack' for everything - I just want to sell it as painlessly as possible for a fair enough price.

First formula milk for a 9 month old?
CocoC replied to eva_ben's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Eva I started my daughter on formula loads earlier than you at 3 months, but I do remember looking into it and drawing the conclusion that there isn't really much difference between all the variants/numbers e.g. 1/2/3/first/follow-on/hungry. So my daughter just stayed on first milk (1). I think the marketing blather says that there is a slightly different concentration of nutrients but if your daughter is well established on solids most of the nutrients will be coming from her food. I think at 9 months 2-3 sippy cups full/ bottles of formula are about right. We used Hipp organic until I switched my daughter onto cow's milk but it can be a pain in the backside to source. Most other formula feeders I know went for Aptamil. Good luck with your return to work! I did it in January - but as I'm guessing you did it before with your eldest you probably know just what to expect :) -
Hello My baby daughter keeps getting conjunctivitis. The GP at DMC took a swab last week and I was asked to phone in for the results today, which I did. I was told it is 'normal'. When I asked what this means - do I carry on with antibiotics, do we need to do any further tests etc., I was told that the earliest a Doctor could talk me through it is next Friday (!) or I have to join the 75 million other people in the triage phone queue tomorrow when the lines open at 8am. Putting the shambles that is DMC aside for a moment, can any medics using this forum give me their qualified opinion? Caveat - I won't treat it as gospel/ will seek medical opinion from DMC when I eventually manage to get through. Thank you.

Hi Abbie Been three times now - twice in the adults-only 'Red Level' section and the last time in March of last year when my daughter was 4 months old. To answer some of your questions: - It's about a 10 min walk to the local village. Not the most picturesque but perfectly decent. The supermarket on the square does a good range of really tasty but very cheap red wines (they sell the bottle that the hotel charges 22E for for 4E!) - I think since Jessica went the beach has been tidied up - as buggie says it's black sand but nice enough - In March of last year at any rate - the Thomson creche and playroom area could only be used by Thomson guests rather than those who had booked directly - worth knowing - We also booked direct when we went the last time as we wanted a one bed suite with separate living area and they didn't have any rooms like that through Thomson - Agree with everyone that the restaurants are very good. The main buffet one is mammoth but very efficiently run and always plenty of varied, tasty food. Italian OK. If you fancy a night out on your own, I can recommend the restaurant in the Red level section - that was very nice - Treat yourself in the spa. I had probably the best massage of my life there, and I'm a sucker for them so have had lots. If you think of anything else just shout! Funnily enough we're going back to Tenerife in a fortnight but decided to broaden our horizons and go somewhere different this time - mainly because we fancied a villa - so have found a resort where the accommodation is all villas but then you have restaurant amenities, big pool, etc etc. -
Should i MMR vaccinate my child?

Looking for childrens birthday party venues
CocoC replied to Pricey75's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hello - like Bonfire2010 we had a tumble party at the Albrighton Centre and it was brilliant. Highly recommended. -
My parents in law took several Uber cars over the Christmas period as sadly we didn't have room for them here. They were staying in Greenwich, near to the Cutty Sark. Their most expensive fare was ?14 (because the hotel was hard to find so there was a bit of aimless driving around) and the cheapest ?9- that was the one they took on Christmas Day!

Another great call-out from Steve - my dishwasher wasn't getting things as clean as it used to. Called him at 9am, he was here by half past and the problem was dealt with on the spot. Highly recommend.

A second vote for Nicola Watson. She's fab. I also have someone in mind for your bottle dilemma too, a maternity nurse I worked with. Will PM you.

Simple, inexpensive party bag ideas/ alternatives?!
CocoC replied to CocoC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks so much for all your thoughts and ideas everyone! There are some great deals on the Book People so I think I'm going to go for that and then the kids can help themselves to a book or two at the end (and hopefully we'll end up with some leftovers too!). x -
Hello I'm throwing a first birthday party for my daughter at the end of this month. It's turned into a bit of an extravaganza - we didn't have her Christened and always meant to have some kind of 'welcome to the world' party more as a thank you to our brilliant friends who supported us through a long and gruelling IVF journey to get her here - but life got in the way. Anyway, I didn't mean to go into an X-Factor style back story there - but suffice to say that we're expecting around 20-25 kids ranging in age from one to three. Cripes. Anyway, I've already spent a fair amount of venue, catering, entertainment etc so don't really want to fork out on shedloads of party bags. A friend recommended buying lots of books from Book People and sticking them in a lucky dip style container which seems like a great idea - has anyone done anything similar/ anyone have any other bright ideas? Thanks!!

Sorry to hear about your mum catcher but what a heart-warming post. That's one of the many reasons why I love living round here. -
Danesfield House hotel and spa, where the Clooneys just had their UK wedding party. It's amazing. Sell a body organ and stay overnight! Otherwise have a glass of good red wine in front of their roaring fire. I want to go back- can you tell?!

Hi Shilums I've booked the Albrighton Centre for my daughter's first birthday. Large hall so plenty of room for their fantastic soft play facilities and seating for adults. Reasonable price too.

What a farce! So that makes the Manager and Dep Manager who have both posted on this forum under separate threads posing as genuine parents?

Good luck Lillyrose! I wish you all the best with it. Will you have anything for the cat lover too?

CocoC replied to CocoC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks mrsc_89 - they do indeed but I don't want to be tied to the kitchen during the party serving it round/ warming any hot bites up :( Any other ideas? x -
Hello I'm throwing a party for my daughter in November and am looking for a caterer to do some canap?s/ nibbles for the adults and some finger food bits and bobs for the kids. Does anyone have a recommendation? Thanks!
