  1. Or d) Yet more examples of terrible cycling - a problem that seems to be getting worse and needs policing as cyclists aren't doing it themselves
  2. https://youtu.be/WLbInJdm4pc Some more classics in here. I wonder if the council/police need to do some cycle interventions at the Dulwich library junction, time to start issuing a few fines perhaps?
  3. Here is a prediction for you...the CPZ will have zero impact on car ownership or car use in Dulwich. It will, however, be a key part of Southwark's greenwashing programme with them telling us it's them doing their bit for climate change. And that narrative will be swallowed hook, line and sinker by those who are dumb enough to believe what the council tells them and don't bother to look at the reality beyond the council's propaganda.
  4. The point has always been LTNs are not effective tool to combat vehicular use, they are a very blunt instrument that merely moves traffic from one road to another...they just pass the problem to someone else. They do nothing to reduce car use in numbers needed to impact climate change - and remember data from Aldred showed a 9% increase in vehicle ownership within LTNs since the measures went in. What was interesting to me is that the BBC was saying that one of the things needed urgently to tackle climate change was to encourage more electric vehicles....something councils like Southwark have completely overlooked (this will likely trigger the usual nonsense retort about brake disc emissions etc which is just a BS distraction technique). And much of that is down to the anti-car lobby who have manipulated the process from the outset. Bottom-line is the LTN in Dulwich has failed. All it has done is created streets with many fewer cars at the expense of streets which now have many more. And for the record I live on a street with many fewer now.
  5. What control area - are you confusing Lambeth data used by Aldred and Co with Dulwich? Is Chicken a non-Dulwicher too?
  6. A real shame you won't be given the democratic right to say whether you support CPZs or not in the consultation. Perhaps that part of a democratic right is not one you feel is important..... Anyone who thinks this is about the environment is daft as a brush....;-)
  7. You make a very good point! Ha ha, I think you'll find that's the far left of Labour that have never taken responsibility for anything...
  8. And their latest missive....what a load of blinkered nonsense......who do these people claim to represent exactly? Love the fact mums for lungs is pushing the consultation out far and wide...does the council not have enough responses yet and a wider base required...;-)
  9. Yup, probably best stop moaning about people having a moan for fear someone accuses you of being hypocritical.....;-)
  10. CAD or Council Approved Directives! 😉 Honestly that thread about Dulwich Wood is absolutely ludicrous. The very same twitter thread moans about school buses when schools proactively try to resolve the issue...there's no pleasing some people...
  11. Given your track record for points and fines you are probably well served to talk from experience...;-) Out of interest, what educated you, as I presume your driving style has changed?
  12. Such flawed logic here. You take a local transport challenge and apply a measure that impacts a whole area. First it was commuters in East Dulwich now school traffic in Dulwich Hill. Laughable. An area wide CPZ will do nothing to impact the school traffic and how is that fair to those paying for the CPZ, in the majority of streets not impacted by the schools? CPZs are now the new school street for pro-lobbyists. And groups like CAD the council's puppets.
  13. Meanwhile on Twitter one of the councillors who berated TFL for telling the truth about disruption and displacement caused by the LTNs tries to tell people what's "really happening" in Dulwich....its all going a bit Comical Ali.... https://twitter.com/RM_Leeming/status/1685909438735998976?t=N1HQCR_Wb4pPrs4GiHzw0g&s=19
  14. Given that list if misdemeanors I am not convinced to be honest.....;-)
  15. Every politician, at every level, is a snollygoster then! Malumbu, we can definitely agree on one thing, Corbyn would have been an absolutely disaster, on most fronts, for this country! Backbenchers are there for a reason and his rise to lead Labour was a great example of the power behind the scenes needs not to be more important than the person weilding the power! To be fair only seconded by Ed being chosen over David! If only, if only, if only...hindsight is a powerful thing...
  16. No points or prosecutions for me either. A FPN notice or two when councils starting giving them out like confetti. Malumbu, that is one hell of a rap sheet - you seem to have been a very dangerous driver in your time...I presume you are now a born-again courteous driver?
  17. I bet the council's lawyers are busy trying to work out how water-tight those "consultations" were....
  18. Hardly a daft question. Not since the first CPZ consultation has the council put a simple yes/no question and I wonder if that would not be a robust consultation in the eyes of the ULEZ judge. If so, Southwark and others may have problems during the Tory led review.
  19. Interesting that the judicial review on ULEZ was based on a consultation where people we asked whether they supported it or not (59% said no). I do wonder whether the judge would have viewed it differently if no such question was asked and whether the Tories realise this and why they are requesting the LTN review. Any legal experts have a view?
  20. Don't ask for permission beg for forgiveness if it becomes a problem. The Southwark system is not built for such things and whilst you are supposed to get it reviewed and approved the system is built for house extensions etc. When we did it and went for approval it became a real challenge because they wanted architectural drawings etc and no-one goes to that level of detail for a bike shed. My advice would be as long as your neighbours won't complain the go for it. Keep it within the Asgard size bike shed sizes and you should be fine.
  21. Ha ha...reverting to type...also known as pointing out what really happened rather than the council's version of events.... Can someone remind me how long it took the council to removal the barrier for emergency services? Look how quick they managed to put in a right filter at the DV/Red Post Hill junction to alleviate the queuing traffic caused by the cycle lane they put in at the lights for comparative purposes....
  22. Mr Chicken...you know I didn't write the Bloomberg article right? Fascinating piece isn't it and so many of the problems seen in Amsterdam seem to have found their way to other cities like London too, wouldn't you agree? How do you think we mitigate the issues around cyclists and bad cycling?
  23. After Malumbu and Mr Chicken foolishly called me out about parts of Amsterdam banning cycling I dug out this article on the issue. Any of these problems look familiar? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-08-27/easing-tension-between-dutch-cyclists-and-walkers
  24. It was Amsterdam in the De Pijp district...so I was right..ha ha doubt me at your peril! 😉 I can't find the original BBC article but here is one from Bloomberg that discusses it and the reasons for it....seems all so familiar don't you think....(cue Mr Chicken and Malumbu suddenly losing interest in the debate...) https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-08-27/easing-tension-between-dutch-cyclists-and-walkers
