  1. We are 5 Deaf locals, who you?ve probably seen waving our hands about in the various pubs around East Dulwich. We are running the Virgin London Marathon to raise money for a very worthwhile cause- Scope, a charity for Cerebral Palsy. This charity campaigns tirelessly to create a world where disabled people have the same opportunities to fulfil their life ambitions as non-disabled people, and are committed to creating a better society for everyone. Being disabled ourselves, we recognise Scope?s efforts in this, and in our small way we are going to compete on an equal footing with tens of thousands of other entrants by taking part in the London Marathon. By finishing this, we hope to fulfil a life-time ambition as well as to raise a significant amount of money for Scope. We spent all of yesterday shaking buckets at Embankment and managed to raise ?500 from it. Thanks to anyone who donated! Henry's facebook status at the end of the day was - 'I gave a random businessman a piggyback across the bridge to Waterloo. Just so very weird and very wrong. I regret it but at least the money goes to a good cause...' Because of the man's poor lip pattern Henry thought he was asked to carry his bags till he got to the bridge. :D We would very much appreciate any donations towards our cause, you can donate and read further details at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/London2011 By supporting this event, you will be making a real difference to Scope and the valuable service it offers those who need it most.
  2. Did anyone see the willy in peckham rye park?

What were your thoughts about harry's whisper to matt? So true and so crude!
  4. If the elderly resident is classified as disabled or on some form of benefit she is eligible for warm front which is service the government provide to make houses more efficient.
  5. I have my niece down for the weekend and wanna go to a soft play area tmw but where do I go in east dulwich or nearby?
  6. I think the nappy incident is terrible, but I found a broken bottle of glass when picking up the rubbish. The amount of children who live around here, can you imagine. Well I cant take a picture as I've cleaned it up but yes I will be sending an email to the councillor, little will be done though I'm sure.
  7. The bin men have been around this morning and the whole of my front garden is covered in my recycling, they haven't taken all of it and if anything else they seem to have spread around the street! I appreciate what they do is labour intensive and hard work. But Southwark wants us to recycle more and hopes to recycle 90% of waste by 2020, they cant do that if it's still on my neighbours and my doorstep!!
  8. On worlingham armed with what felt like thousands of sweets and no trick or treaters. Sad times.
  9. Thank you all for your points of view and experiences. Another quick question, I am currently living in a flat, my chimney is a working one and we recently got it swept am I still allowed to have a wood burner or do I need to consult with the other residents?
  10. I want some opinions on wood burners, are they really worth getting?
  11. I noticed living off mum - car crash tv at its worse I think.
  12. I cant believe youve gone from slagging off peckham and Brixton to now slagging off the north, is there no end?
  13. 'Allowed to thrive' Peckham has great culture, from the Indian to the Vietnamese, East Dulwich on the other hand has knock off Indian restaurants and overpriced cheese shops. It's irrelevant how long you have lived here, and how do you know how DJKillaQueen has no life experience. South London and its people are fantastic if you want to live in a pretty pretty place, move out.
  14. Actually Im from Birmingham, so the thought of surrey and herefordshire terrify me. East dulwich isnt much better than Brixton in terms of fast food joints, we have Chicken Hut or whatever it's called. I agree with dubluke.
  15. Ooh thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, slightly worrying that melbourne grove referred me to Kings when they dont seem to provide an audiology service. I will get on the case.
  16. I understand youre going to Brixton to go into Central, what a waste of time. And Brixton is not as rough as you make it, more fool you for playing to the stereotypes.
  17. Ive just moved to the area and the local GP asked which hospital I would like to be refered to for audiology - anyone out there with experiences of either?
  18. I went to Franklins last week with the mother-in-law, am still daydreaming about the lentil and chorizo stew. Definitely going back - just dont order alcohol and go at lunchtime.
  19. Does anyone know when all the roadworks are going to be completed as it took me 30 minutes to get to Forest Hill yesterday from the top of LL.
  20. Apparently there's been a hit and run my boyfriend saw the stretcher, just outside goose green school. How can people run people down and drive off. *shakes head*
  21. Vietnamese, there's a great place in Oxford Street called Pho, need to get them in East Dulwich - id be there all the time.
