  1. Someone drove into my car today while it was parked outside no 2 Fellbrigg Rd, that's the Northcross Rd end of the road, near Willow. It's dented and scratched - probably about ?200-worth of damage. I would just put this down to (bitter) experience, but just a couple of months ago I paid ?200 for the repairs after the same thing happened when it was parked on Northcross Rd. I'm really upset that I have to keep shelling out hundreds of pounds because other people won't own up to their bad driving. Did anyone see what happened? [edited to make title more meaningful]
  2. Barry, you may not be able to do anything about this, but the ticket machine (when it's working) isn't very easy to use, especially for people who aren't used to it. I give regular tutorials to confused passengers, to avoid missing my own train!
  3. She's been round to our house, quite a while ago. But I don't know if she's genuine because I said 'no thanks'.
  4. Don't know anyone who's eaten there but presumably somebody must? Any good?
  5. I noticed an A4 poster on the railings at Peckham Rye a day or two before but if I hadn't been out and about at a very slow pace with a buggy I never would have noticed it. More posters and fliers in shops would help. And bigger posters on the Rye.
  6. the feta-stuffed chillies are my favourite, but the last couple of times I've been in I've also experienced very bad service - last time on a Thurs night it was just neglectful - you have to go and find them to order. But there is one particular waitress who is downright hostile - looks like she hasn't smiled since 1988. Which is a shame because there are lots of plus points and I really want to unreservedly love the place.
  7. Boosboss, in answer to your question about what stalls and what food, here are a few ideas: homemade lemonade hot chocolate crepes Thai curry and rice fancy tarts (the edible type, sweet and savoury, no jokes please!) posh salads hot fresh doughnuts cheeses (to eat there with some little bread rolls or biscuits, mmm, or to take home) olives country cider pottery (e.g. North Street Potters) kids' art area: easels, paints and a display board for the masterpieces hoopla pony rides Hope that's useful.
  8. It's a great idea and there was a lovely community feel. Shame about the weather. Good Pimms. Great T-shirts. The kids' races were fun. It would be nice to have more variety in the stalls and types of food available - and more cake - it had all run out by the time we got there. What about some live music, coconut shy and better prizes on the tombola? You could get local businesses to sponsor/donate. I won a very nice bottle of Foxtons' champagne at the East Dulwich Forum party last autumn!
  9. Thanks Cora, that's what I'm worried about. Can anyone recommend a practice with a fab Health Visitor?
  10. Like many others on the forum I'm a disaffected patient of Melbourne Grove Medical Practice and I've often seen the practice at The Gardens recommended here. Does anyone know what the baby clinic and health visitor are like there? I really like the health visitor at MG and some of the others I've encountered are rather grumpy! Thanks in advance....
  11. Have you seen Heidihi's post here?
  12. The checkout assistant said it was because they were falling off a lot, so maybe it's not a sophisticated anti-fraud measure?!
  13. I also got a call today, card had been used in Malaysia. I went to the HSBC cashpoint yesterday and Sainsbury's.
  14. When I've been in there the cakes have been covered by a plastic film, which is a lot more than many places do. And the Victoria Sponge is amazing!
  15. I was attacked by a dog on Goose Green a couple of years ago (before they put that fence in). I was running (moving target) and a rottweiler-like dog clamped its jaw on my arm and wouldn't let go until her owner pulled her off. I was wearing long sleeves, fortunately, but you could still see tooth marks on my arm. I'm much more worried about a dog attacking my baby than the poo issue, though of course the poo is serious too. Having said that, the fence does kind of split the green in two so maybe the dog-free area could be in a different place (away from the traffic) and a different shape?
  16. I carelessly dropped my much-loved royal blue mac, probably at Peckham Rye, Lordship Lane, or streets in between. Has anyone picked it up? I'll be getting chilly without it. Thanks.....
  17. I think we should care - the sad thing is that so many managers of catering businesses don't care about food hygiene or their customers' health. Remember that some people eating in cafes and restaurants could be very seriously affected by food poisoning - children, the elderly etc. Yes, some of the reports may be quite old and things could have improved, but if the business wasn't that bothered about food hygiene at the last inspection......
  18. Don't worry CamberwellOz, Green and Blue also gets 4 stars....
  19. It can be a bit like a creche in there, which will put off some ED residents less keen on kids (Yummy Mummy thread!) but I agree that it's good and pretty cheap - the scrambled egg on granary toast is particularly tasty and good value.
  20. Not sure if anyone has posted about this before, but on the Scores on the doors site you can search for local restaurants and find out how they did in their last hygiene inspection. There are 5 possible stars, with 5 being the best and 1 (or 0!) being the worst. I've just wasted loads of time searching.... Le Chandelier and Tandoori Nights both only get 1 star......
  21. We've just had someone round claiming to be from a company doing some kind of 'free assessment' of the outside of houses, but he was very hazy on what they actually do and much keener to find out when we're normally in and what our phone no. is. Sounds suspicious to me. According to him the phone no. on his literature is 'just an information line and so not much use really'. Mmmm. Especially having read the burglary thread, I'd be wary of giving this guy any info.
