  1. I think they're not too bad as GP surgeries go in general. I'm not sure what time their phone lines open (it's either 8am or 8.30am) but if you ring and redial if they are engaged at that time then you'll generally get an appointment the same day. Not easy for people trying to get ready for work or kids ready for school but hey!
  2. Yes, I will report to the police.
  3. Hi Forum, Just posting on the remotest off chance anyone saw or heard the smash that resulted in my parked car being written off last night. It was at about 11.20pm, outside no. 314 Upland Road. Heard a vehicle driving hard and fast up the hill, then heard a bang, went outside and my poor old much-loved Citroen has been completely scraped along one side, rear bumper completely off, wing mirror on the road. Later on, maybe it was just my imagination, I could have sworn I heard joy riding type noises a bit further south in the area - maybe on Lordship Lane or Dunstans, Overhill, Mount Adon Park kind of area? Did anyone else? Needless to say please contact me if you can add anything to this sorry tale. I have a feeling I've read about other cars in SE22 being mindlessly smashed into overnight in the past couple of weeks. Perhaps someone is doing it for laughs? Speaking to my insurers this morning they more or less told me not to bother reporting to the police!
  4. How many dogs do the Malones have and more to the point how many dogs do the family with the son with Tourettes have? I hope we have lost the two blokes with the naked female torso on the wall behind them (they were dull) and the very posh family with two daughters (ditto). I'm not at all interested in what the young sister and brother have to say. Still love the Siddiquis and Giles & M of course.
  5. I've been chuckling to myself for days over Giles: Nutty, do you remember that Vietnamese place we ate at in Chelsea and it was called ... Mary: Stop it Nutty! Giles: the P h a t P h Mary: DON'T SAY IT! Giles: u c Mary: (rolls eyes and tuts) I have a very low sense of humour though. Lots of new families on this series, I'm trying to work out who we've lost.
  6. If it really is still in good condition and not worn or faded then charity shops will take it. If it's too worn for you to want to keep then consider it good for recycling only. Animal charities will take towels but I'm not sure white sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases are useful to them itatm? If they do then I have some old stuff to pass on.
  7. In a debate about women's rights why do we always have to remember the men?
  8. Well said, Sweary. As I said up thread, this is a really significant issue that not enough people have given serious thought to. I have signed all the petitions and read around the subject as much as I can. I am very worried. It is NOT just about predatory men "disguising" themselves as women and getting in to the female changing rooms for a few pervy moments of pleasure.
  9. I think the majority would still much prefer to have single sex toilets and changing rooms. Just as they prefer to have single sex hospital wards.
  10. Good for them! A huge issue that is passing so many people by.
  11. We suddenly have no water - higher door numbers of Upland Road. This is getting to be a regular occurrence. Just wondered if anyone else in the same boat?
  12. Seriously? You can tell if someone is going to be a good employee after a 2 hour trial? Thanks goodness I didn't have to go through any of this back in the dark ages of employment rights.
  13. Obviously, I didn't mean literally whatever they like. However, schools seem to be able to operate their own admissions systems without reference to surrounding schools and general need in the area.

  15. I don't think any school should be allowed to run a lottery in a vacuum. But there, schools are no longer accountable to the LA and can do whatever the hell they like with their admissions.
  16. Wait ... 2/3 of places at Harris Girls are now going to be allocated by lottery? What a disaster for that area of Nunhead/East Dulwich - which is in a secondary schools black hole as it is.
  17. If you are regularly affected by someone who does this routinely (such as the lady in Heber Road) then I can't see the harm in moving the bins or cones out of the way to park. They don't own the road outside their house as everyone says. But if you are trying to park someone that is not your home address and you see bins reserving a space, can't you give the home owners the benefit of the doubt? They might be reserving a space for a removals lorry or delivery or skip and it might be the only time they have ever put bins out on the street in this way. It's pretty arrogant and anti social to just move them and park anyway just because you feel entitled to that particular spot.
  18. Crumbs, just reading on a local Facebook group = no water at all across various parts of SE23 and SE26.
  19. My daughter is at her friend's house near Sydenham Station. Suddenly no water there either. Seems like a massive problem.
  20. No water here at the Lordship Lane end of Upland Road. Luckily I had just filled the kettle right to the top. It feels like it's becoming a rather annoyingly regular thing here in SE22.
  21. You could have asked for cashback with your food shopping! :)
  22. Callie Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I never carry cash on me I only pay by card. So if you carried a bit of cash then you wouldn't resent small business owners from having a minimum spend on card transactions. Easy.
  23. No, I generally find it's pretty easy to carry ?10 or so around with me all the time.
  24. Are you prepared to say roughly where you live carlybloom?
