Specifically, someone who can help me make the switch from my current phone to a new handset without losing all my data and photos please! Also, how to sort, mass delete and edit photos. And emails. Just generally how to get the most out of my phone. Anyone out there? fingers crossed.

Walking route from East Dulwich to Catford?
tomskip replied to tomskip's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks all for replying. I think you're quite correct ianr - crossing the railway line is an issue which rather restricts the walking options. I'll be giving it a try tomorrow, weather permitting! -
Avoiding the south circular as much as possible. From SE22 / SE23 border, what route would you take for maximum pleasantness and minimum roadside queuing traffic?

I was in the park yesterday for the first time in quite a while. I was surprised by the number of areas and borders that seem to be lying fallow. There was bindweed running all over beds I wouldn't expect to see bindweed and I must have missed any interesting Autumn planting. If there is any, can anyone direct me to it? We won't mention the boardwalk yet again. It's always a pleasure to see the trees turning and to appreciate how lucky we are to live near such a great park, and obviously this is not a criticism of the people who work there. I'm just concerned they might have lost funding or something?

Hi Jeremy. I had lessons with Sarah Blair for several years, starting from the same sort of position as you, and would be happy to recommend her. She is based in Honor Oak. I'm not sure if I should put her contact details up on the thread, but she's actually quite easy to find via Google.

We'd also like to recommend James to everyone on the forum. He's been here twice recently - first on a call out when our kitchen electrics fully tripped (meaning no hot water among other things) and so he prioritised us and got here within a couple of hours of our call. All fixed quickly and no fuss. So then we were happy to have James back to put up two lights for us. Again he did a lovely job - quick, tidy and efficient. Here is his number: 07816 160353.

Pavement widening outside M&S nr East Dulwich station...
tomskip replied to EDmummy101's topic in Roads & Transport
So anyway, can you park on that new bit of pavement outside M&S or not? First few times I drove past it, there were cars on it but I thought they might have not got the memo. I drove past again very slowly the other day and there were no cars so I scanned for parking restriction signs and couldn't see any. Did I miss them? If you can't park there, what is that new bit of pavement actually for? Pedestrians are well taken care of in that area what with the station and now two pedestrian crossings. -
Why do you think your Estate Agent would want to see your house sold for a lower price OP?

Indoor market in East Dulwich - Would you be interested?
tomskip replied to radnrach's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I don't think so, sadly. The Zenoria Street indoor market failed to take off and generally speaking traders at Christmas Fairs and Farmers Markets are reporting that it isn't worth their while now. If you go to North Cross Road, the vast majority of visitors are only buying the street food! It was the same when I went to the Horniman Sunday market and second hand market yesterday. With the lack of footfall I couldn't understand how any of the traders could be making any money. -
Speechless! for once.

'Foodbank' street collector outside M&S
tomskip replied to Castleton's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
On the whole I agree with what you say Mops. But the solution to this person's vulnerability is not to encourage him to collect money under the guise of it being a charity collection (if it is not) surely? People who are short of money themselves could be donating whilst under the impression they are giving to an organisation, not an individual who needs cash. It's ok to question the validity of collection buckets, no matter who is holding them. Or no? I always feel it's best to be honest. I hope some of the many excellent local homeless outreach workers are talking to him. -

That's not really my point. -

I saw the same man being asked to leave his spot outside the entrance to Sainsburys Dog Kennel Hill the other day. It suggests, at least, that Sainsburys didn't licence him to ask for donations there. -
Food waste bin - what is acceptable to line it with?
tomskip replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The compostible food waste bags from Lidl or Aldi are large and very strong. -

Charter North admissions if renting - experience?
tomskip replied to Iyael's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I'm pleased that Charter North have caught on to the dishonest practice of owning elsewhere and renting nearby to get a place at the school. It wasn't the case a few years ago and I knew several families who exploited the loophole. I'll admit to finding it funny when I met a family who rented in Dulwich Village to get their first of three children into the school. But then their second child wanted to go to a school in Lewisham ... and they were out of catchment for that! I wonder if they did it again ... -
I only go there about every couple of months now (to put my flimsy plastic in the recyling bins). What a dismal, grubby experience it has become! I don't go to Sainsburys Forest Hill either because of their requirement to have me download a parking app on my phone. Luckily we have many supermarket choices nearby and I find Waitrose deliveries, Sainsburys Local on foot, Lidl and Aldi cover it all.

Food poisoning at Dugard & Daughters - twice!
tomskip replied to ArchieCarlos's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
For ArchieCarlos - Billings on Sydenham High Street is also an excellent butchers and fishmongers. -
It's a strange thread heading for sure. There are thousands of dual income hard-working families locally! Most of them aren't in a position to pay private school fees. Of course a 20% cost uplift is going to be hard for many private school parents, but the real question is - why is a private education in a weird loophole of not being seen as discretionary spending? As adults we pay VAT on clothing, heating, fuel, furniture, most purchases other than some foods. So private school fees being VAT exempt seems extraordinary.

Southwark Council crowdfunding for green projects
tomskip replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Good luck to them. I should think anyone inclined to crowd fund in this borough has had their fingers stung by the non-starter projects of the proposed Lido at Peckham Rye and a green walkway following the train route from Peckham Rye? (memory a bit hazy) which have resulted in nothing. -
I think it's an ambitious asking price, yes.
