  1. A good way to reduce car traffic around Dulwich and East Dulwich? Ban anyone from outside walking distance from coming to school here. See how that goes down.
  2. Son's family birthday cards arrived only 3 days late this year which is an improvement on 2018 when they were 9 days late. The service in SE22 has been abysmal since the closure of the sorting office, long before Covid. We've had long threads complaining about it on here for years. And yet RM crow about their massive profits (which, again, were decent before Covid). It makes me want to shake my fist at the sky it does.
  3. I'm not in the market for looking at schools any longer (time flies!) but I find it amazing that the most recent Ofsted inspection at Charter N Dulwich was 2009. The exemption for outstanding schools is peculiar, although I think maybe coming to an end.
  4. At least Southwark Council seem to be contemplating giving some support. When Forest Hill School was in financial difficulty a few years ago, Lewisham Council refused to budge - even on re-negotiating the ruinous PFI contract for the school building. Staff had to be made redundant and in an arguably illegal way, Lewisham refused to pay the redundancies so that those too had to come out of the much reduced school budget! That's why there were strikes and demos there a few years ago. Hats off to Mr Sullivan for somehow steering the school through all that.
  5. What should a person do about parcels being delivered to the doorstep only? I live on Upland Road which I understand has had several doorstep thefts. I've had 2 parcels delivered by Amazon in recent days and they were left on the step (doorbell rung) luckily I was home to bring them in pretty quickly so nothing lost. I feel bad for the delivery drivers as they have such impossible schedules but at the same time ...
  6. But if a charity shop can use them why just throw them? Far too much goes into landfill. Everyone can make an effort to reduce what they chuck out even if it seems insignificant in comparison to what big companies or the poor chronic hoarders throw away. Re-use is better than recycling! Have you tried putting them outside your house on a dry day Foxy? Someone will take some of them.
  7. Myself = me. Yourself = you.
  8. Very concerning that a knife was involved. I saw a post on NextDoor ED in the last few days where apparently a man was robbed of his watch at knife point on Henslowe Road.
  9. I took my large collection of filmy plastic to Sainsburys DKH this morning. No sign of a recycling bin for this plastic yet.
  10. Hello, have a look at the thread in this link and in particular the very good posts from poster boomshake22 on 28th April. Hope this is helpful /forum/read.php?5,2180997,page=1
  11. She didn't sadly pass away, she was murdered, stabbed to death (and as heartblock says very probably one of the 2 female victims per week who lose their lives in domestic violence). My deepest sympathies to her loved ones and friends.
  12. It is the contrast to other threads about recent murders that struck me. People felt the need to pay their respects then, rather than keep silent. I'm not sure what the silence represents but I don't think it is mawkish to want to acknowledge this particular loss of life in our neighbourhood. We're all different, I guess.
  13. I feel uncomfortable that only me and one other person have acknowledged this murder in our neighbourhood on the EDF. The news doesn't quite fit under the banner "General ED issues/gossip" because it feels disrespectful to describe it as gossip, but in the Lounge there have been 693 views of a thread about this and only 1 comment. I wonder why this is? The last murder I can remember in ED generated a thread of 5 pages. I hope with all my heart that it's that people don't know what to say, rather than thinking "oh well it was just a domestic, doesn't affect me".
  14. Devastating. Thoughts are with this woman's loved ones whoever and wherever they may be.
  15. That's awful! So sorry for your son Lilo.

    No, sir

If you are female, and in Plymouth, they call you Maid.
  17. Who placed between Manumua at 14th and Hubbard at 7th? Who were the "lots of other people?" Was it 6 women who still got pushed down by competing with a transwoman who has all the indesputabale advantages (in weight lifting at least) of being born male and living with male hormones and muscles and stature and everything else for 40 years?
  18. I hear you oimissus, although I would agree it is inflammatory and probably unwise of you to refer to the weight lifter as "he" because then you make it too easy for people to shout this is proof you are transphobic. For myself, I find it is inflammatory to refer to women as "cis" or "genetic women". Horribly offensive. Women and transwomen covers it fine. The total dismantling of all women's sports is a niche subject hmm? who could ever have imagined.
  19. John L - you freeze it.
  20. I saw some of them today. They would make me laugh if it wasn't funny.
  21. Good to hear MrsB. All the best to you after a truly horrible experience.
  22. I know nothing about the identity of the assailant just to be clear, but what people need to be aware of is that even if this a male who identifies as female without having had transitional surgery and hormone therapy, these crimes will be recorded as having been committed by a woman. I'm not saying this is what has happened in this specific case, but it is what is going on now in the light of the GRA. Male violence is recorded as female violence if the offender identifies as female no matter their physical body.
  23. Really terrible police work.
  24. taper Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Two more attacks on Wood Vale yesterday > apparently. Sounds like the same person. Could you post links to these reports? Can we have more of a description? Someone who reads this forum might be able to help identify him.
  25. I would actually go to the press with that disgusting police response.
