Word's got out among the parents I see. I hope you and your neighbours get some peace soon Mary123. I find it uncomfortable to see so many brand new posters rushing to berate you for daring to complain about noise, mess, crime, littering, graffiti and drugs right on your doorstep just because it is their little treasures who are involved. Op first raised this issue on the forum a month ago. I think she deserves to be heard.

I feel for everyone who has been disturbed by this anti-social activity. Am really shocked to read that teens are being taken there by parents! I have older teens, 19 and nearly 17, and I wouldn't allow them to stay out all night unless I knew for sure where they were - ie. with friends at a friends house (and not at the moment anyway). In view of all the buck passing and shoulder shrugging going on from the people who should be helping her, I am not surprised the OP of this thread has posted the photos. She's clearly getting desperate.

First class stamps being sold for ?1

Are they seriously 76p now? No wonder people don't send Christmas cards any more. -
Fresh air and sunlight actually do make a big difference in fighting off viral illnesses. During the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918, those who were treated outdoors in field hospitals (presumably because other hospitals were overwhelmed) had better outcomes. And the importance of Vitamin D in fighting Covid-19 has now been widely acknowledged. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4504358/ - interesting article here.

I can't believe there will be a permanent barrier at both ends? What if there's a fire?

You asked "Yes or no?" - then have accused the people who say no of being weird animal haters and that you are going to do it anyway. OK then. I love animals but it's another firm no from me. I don't want to see foxes starved or shot but I'd sooner we didn't have so many of them in London. On a recent 10 minute drive to Kings in the middle of the night I spotted more than 20 of them.

It's not clear from your post ... is your grand daughter currently living in the accommodation or is she at home in Bromley? If the former, couldn't she and her friend stay in a modest Air BnB place for the one night, if she doesn't have friends from Uni she could crash with. Some Air BnB places are self contained and wouldn't involve having to come into contact with the owners/hosts at all.

Maybe the person who was stabbed was breaking and entering and the police feel the people who injured him did so in self defence and are not a threat to any other members of the public. The Southwark News report says the couple who were arrested had reported "forced entry and assault". Who knows? this is just my reading of the story.

"Yeah because what we are all worried about right now is people using correct application of grammar when they are stabbings happening......." but that's not the case is it?
-
How nasty and shocking to hear of a stabbing on the doorstep. Meanwhile, is it helpful to anyone to say that the correct grammar is "could have, would have, should have", not "could of, would of, should of" ?

Huge recycling bins are ugly but they seem to be necessary as the good citizens of Dulwich seem unable to carry their recyclables (let alone other rubbish) home with them. Big sigh.

Dulwich Mobile Unit- Drive-through COVID testing
tomskip replied to Rosebud00's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
What kind of testing is it, do we know? Is it still the hopelessly inaccurate swab up the nostril/down the throat or have things improved in the last few weeks? -
I'm on episode 5 of Ozark and not gripped. I'm irritated by the sleaziness of it - all stuck in there for titivation. But I expect I'll persevere as haven't got much else to do just now.

Why are garden parties with members from different households allowed???
tomskip replied to aloevera's topic in The Lounge
They aren't. You know this surely op? -
I think we should be trying to emulate the health service in Germany. Population 83.02 million, coronavirus deaths 5880. Population of the UK 66.65 million, coronavirus deaths 20,732 excluding a scary number of care home deaths. That's not all down to testing. It's to do with the care people get before they become critically ill and unable to speak through breathlessness. I would prefer to have that kind of health service. You don't see anarchy on the streets of Germany due to over-taxation.

Well, if you will use a click baity title. If you'd made "My thoughts on clapping for the NHS" your title I doubt it would have had so many views. No one cares what you think. Stay in and don't clap if you find it "cringe".
-
Yes, it's inconsiderate. People who live in attached properties must realise their washing machines can be heard in other households?

If anyone can recommend a pattern for masks I'd like to have a go. My sewing skills won't go as far as scrubs, I don't think.

I've found queuing in SE22 to be very civilised so far.

The photo you linked Siduhe clearly isn't from this year. There is a very easy way to tell, as people who took a moment to think have noted.

You can get exercise without going to the park. The streets of ED are lovely and quiet now, very little traffic. You can combine your 45 minute walk with a trip to a shop or pharmacy if necessary. Tbh I'm surprised visitor numbers to Brockwell Park are ever less than 3,000 even in the depths of winter. Who is to say person A has more right to go to the park than person B?

I need to speak to my son's GP - any advice?
tomskip replied to tomskip's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks all for the replies. This is not a sore throat that responds to over the counter medication. He has a history of tonsillitis and mouth ulcers which can go septic and has had to have antibiotics regretfully often over the years. We do have Difflam thank you intexas although I think we are getting a bit low. He is gargling with salt water and soluble paracetamol. He did speak to the GP as he's 16 and she wouldn't speak to me. She asked him to check his throat for white spots, which he has. Then she gave out the standard spiel about Covid19 self-care and told him to ring 111 if he gets worse. I know that the virus doesn't respond to antibiotics. I am concerned about the bacteria, not virus, in his throat! This is the 18th day of serious illness in our house and I'm finding it hard to handle. -
I need to speak to my son's GP and I cannot get through on the phone. They referred me to 111 yesterday. I rang 111 and they referred me back to the GP surgery. I cannot get through today. I tried to use the econsult page but as I am enquiring on behalf of someone under 16, I couldn't use it and was redirected back to my GP surgery home page. I am certain as it's possible for a lay person to be that my son needs a repeat prescription for some medication he had a few months ago. Is it literally impossible to see or speak to a GP about anything other than COVID19 at the moment? His throat is so sore that he cannot swallow water!

13 year old boy dies at kings
tomskip replied to Paulie herne hill's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
No. I think generally the young are not vulnerable to covid-19 but there will always be the occasional tragic exception. What I do wonder about is what you might get out of feeding off other people's (relatives of this 13 year year old_) actual grief and worry in the wider community to make crack-pot conspiracy theory posts on a non-political fairly inactive online community forum. Are you trying to scare everyone to death? What is the point of your post?
