  2. Thanks Lochie and Womanof dulwich. I noticed the multipro is on offer in big sainsbury at the moment.
  3. Morning! I'm thinking about getting a food processor. Seems like they make the chopping and food prep lighter work. They vary in price from about ?40 to over ?300. What is the difference? I know many people have them so any advice would be appreciated. Also do any processors also become mixers/ blenders or do you have to purchase those separately? Please let me know your opinions :-) Many thanks Liz
  4. I used Halliwells 9 years ago when I was going through the same thing. The employer paid for it as it was part of the deal. Good luck.
  5. Left it too late for online ordering for son's 6th birthday on Thursday. Does anyone know what shops sell them locally please? Thanks, Liz
  6. I've got 2 boys age 5 & 8 and they have the spotty roller blind from John Lewis which I am sorry to say they don't stock from the look of their website. I found this link off Google images - scroll down the page to the pic with the spotty blind. http://worsthouse.blogspot.co.uk/2008_10_01_archive.html Not sure if I deliberately avoided a theme or why I chose this one. Anyway, they have never complained and we've had it a good few years now. They certainly would not like anything girly.
  7. My boys are in Years 4 and 1. They are very happy and love learning. Of course I only have my experience of primary school to compare it to so cannot say whether it is better or worse than other schools in the area. There are plenty of opportunities for parents to get involved with the school too. Everyone has their own individual experiences but so far it has been a very good experience for my boys.
  8. Hi Fijifish, I run the Powerpramming classes in Dulwich Park and Peckham Rye. They are very social and suitable for all fitness levels. Powerpramming is post natal exercise so it will be appropriate for you. My website is www.powerpramming.co.uk Hope you can make it. Thanks, Liz Stuart
  9. We've just had a lot of bouilding work done on our house and need a really good cleaning company to come and clear the dust and dirt. Has anyone recently got someone in that they can recommend please? They would need a carpet cleaner too. Thanks, Liz
  10. My brother died when I was 6 and I can remember asking my mum 'when is Michael coming home?' - he was in the Navy so we were used to him going away. As my family were pretty religious my mum used to say 'he has gone to Jesus and won't be coming back'. Even though she said this I'd forget and then ask again. It must have driven her mad. My children go through phases of asking about death and have done for a good few years. Eldest is 8 and youngest 5. They went through a phase of constantly asking my mum about my brother and also about my Dad who died when I was an adult. I've asked her if she minds when my children ask her about my brother and Dad and she said she would rather talk about them than them being forgotten. I think children are pretty matter of fact talking about death and can take the honesty and don't get sentimental. I've tried to be as honest as possible about it. The main questions I've had have been about how they died. They seem to want the facts.
  11. Gambado is popular with the children but not so popular with the parents as it is noisy. My son's birthday is feb too and had the last 2 parties (4th and 5th) there. It is very well organised.
  12. Try weebly.com You can do it yourself. It is very easy and free. Liz www.asfitas.co.uk www.powerpramming.co.uk
  13. The woods - you can enter at the junction of the South Circ and Lordship Lane. Also recommend Brockwell Park. It is about 1.7 miles around the edge. Nunhead cemetary. I'll have a think and see if I can come up with some more.
  14. Thanks ed_pete. WE are on a budget so megaflow is out of our league. Thanks for replying. I shall carry on researching and we are not in a rush so plenty of time.
  15. Hi, Not sure if posting in correct section. We have always had a downstairs bathroom but after 8 years in our house we are finally modernising. Whoopee! We are bringing bathroom upstairs onto first floor and also converting our loft. I am new to all this and thought I would seek the advice on the forum as I am sure lots of people have already done this. As bathroom has always been downstairs our pressure has been fine. Not too sure what it will be like upstairs. We are thinking of putting in a valve shower in the family bathroom but wandered if an electric shower was better for the loft shower. Builder can recommend I am sure but just wandered what other people have done please. Many thanks Liz
  16. Monkey Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > And please be careful when exercising at the gym. > I think things like the leg press and some > abdominals exercises have really made things worse > for me. Take advice from your physio. You may well be doing all this but just incase: breathe out as you push legs forward on the press and also try and engage you abs (belly button to spine) Not sure which ab exercises are making it worse but perhaps sit ups without breathing out as you come up. Try and breathe out on the effort part of the ab exercise. Apologies if you are doing this already and I am well off the mark. As you say, physio provde great advice.
  17. This is a big problem for many, many women. As I get asked about this alot at my Powerpramming classes I did a phone round of some physios. I wanted to be able to recommend someone who really specialises in this area - rather than someone just recommending pelvic floor/ kegel exercises. Many women do these exercises on a regular basis and still have not regained the strength they would like to have - or reliability of the pelvic floor. I had really good chat with a physio called Helen Keeble who is based in West Ferry/ Canary Wharf. This is a link to the website: http://www.physiotherapy-specialists.co.uk/physiotherapist_canary_wharf_team.htm look under pelvic floor specialist sub heading. She specialises in pelvic floor issues and sees women on a regular basis. She is very understanding of the problem of weak pelvic floor but very positive about the amount of work that can be done to help. Her number is 07752 710637 or clinic is on 020 7093 3499 - she is private not NHS. She will see if you are doing pelvic floor exercises properly (may involve a VERY QUICK internal indicator). If you are doing them properly this may show some kind of core abdominal weakness. She can then let you know the next steps forward. One of the main things she says is about the importance of bracing the abdominals muscles when lifting/ coughing/ sneezing/ laughing etc. The abdominal muscles provide support to the pelvic floor so they must be used in daily activity. Hope this is of interest. Sorry it is rushed as I am off to get the kids from school. Liz Stuart www.powerpramming.co.uk
  18. > > It would be good to get an idea of what kind of > distance people might want to do and I can sketch > out a potential route? > > Mrs G This website may be of use to you Mrs G www.mapometer.com you may already know about it though. If the park is closed at that time you can run from the court lane gate down to the village, left into the village, throught the village, left onto the south circular, left onto lordship lane, left back down court lane back to where you started. That route is just over 2 miles and may be a good first session while you all get to know each other's paces etc. As long as you just turn lft no one can get lost. Hope this helps - sorry I can't help interfering! Have a good run!
  19. Norfolkvillas, you will be fine with just the gardens (free). Don't need to pay to go in cafe area.
  20. Another thumbs up for Hall Place. Thanks Pickle! I took my 2 sons age 8 and 5 and we just did the trail round the gardens which they really enjoyed. It took a couple of hours to go round. We also had lunch in the cafe - not cheap so I would try and be more organised and bring sandwiches next time. It is a really lovely cafe though and the soup I had even came with a cheese and herb scone - very posh! The gardens are beautiful. I'll take my mum next time she is here. So we are going back there again soon to go round the hall and complete the trail we started. Got back home in about 40 mins so very convenient.
  21. Went down to Lordship Lane in the afternoon and turned phone on there and it worked and has been doing so since then - even back at home.
  22. Hiya, it seems to be happening quite a bit over the last few months. I've had no Orange service all morning on my phone. Turned it off and on again a few times but no luck. I am on Goodrich Road. Anyone else experiencing the same?
