  1. Holiday Drop Off at Dulwich College - not sure if it starts at 9 tho - it may be 10 Scamps - not sure of details but sure a search on here will come up trumps or someone else will have details. These are the most 'work friendly' clubs I know of. thanks, liz

Some of the exercises like the ab stuff would not be appropriate but I can give you alternatives during that time. Thanks, Liz
  3. There is a free play scheme on Wed to Fri at Goodrich organised by Southwark Council. Contact is Michelle Pereria. I'll send you a PM with her email address.

  5. Thanks everyone. I will look into all of these. Liz
  6. That is lovely. So nice to read. I have heard it is a really nice school.
  7. Personally I find it very easy to talk about my miscarriages and the only reason I do not do it so much is because I can see other people are uncomfortable with the subject. Everyone's experiences are different and I may not find it so easy if I had been trying and trying for years to have a baby. I recently got pregnant again but had a miscarriage at 7/ 8 weeks (in November). Although I feel sad about what happened and it was physically very painful and draining (especially as i teach exercise for a living) I can speak easily about it. Sometimes I feel I need to keep my mouth shout because it is something not talked about. Not sure what I am trying to say here really. I suppose it is that some people can talk about it and some people cannot due to how they are feeling about their loss. If someone asks me whether I am going to have another child I just say 'I had a miscarriage recently'. I am not suggesting that everyone says that but the frank response works for me. Usually it ends up with the other person talking about their/ or their partners experiences too. louisiana, it must have been awful to hear the comment from the man you mentioned. I've heard from a few people that some people are very flippant, tactless and thoughtless with their remarks.
  8. Hello Does anyone have any recommendations for a week or so of camping - well not quite camping - one of those static caravans/ chalet type things will be fine. Last summer we had a week on a campsite in France and it rained pretty much everyday so I am determined not to go back there. Does anyone have any recommendations for places with almost guaranteed sunshine that will not break the bank please? There will be 2 adults and 2 energetic boys age 7 and 4. A good pool with a slide and some sunshine will do the trick! It will be in the summer holidays. Thanks, Liz

Reneet I have a son in year 2 and a son in Nursery at Goodrich. I like the school. I certainly do not think it is perfect but when I have a problem I go to the class teacher/ deputy head/ or head teacher directly. I think one of the main issues is staff sickness and the level of teachers that have recently left. This is of course not good but I do think things should get better. Like I say, it is not perfect. I do take my kids education seriously so I have got extra help because I think it is probably needed (not a private tutor for the record - although that would be nice!). I do not want to get mixed up in the arguments that are being discussed on here. I have my own opinions on that but here is not the place! I just feel that people should not be regarding Goodrich as a School that has completely lost it's way. It is not the case at all. I am very involved with the school as can any other parent be. Don't be too put off. Speak to some of the other parents and you will get a feel for it when you go and visit. Plus, I think the teachers really care about the children.
  10. Got some from Marks and Spencer.
  11. Hi Melbrooks - my name is Liz Stuart and I run the Powerpramming classes. Thank you Trish for mentioning them in your post. The classes happen whatever the weather (apart from snow and ice). There we more than 10 'hardcore mums' at the session in the rain yesterday! The classes are not too hard as it is post natal exercise. I do encourage you to take it easy at first and as the weeks go by if you want to push yourself more there is plenty of opportunity to do so. We do lots of cardio work and toning work. The atmosphere is very informal and friendly. If you need to feed or change your baby's nappy or give them a cuddle etc there is plenty of opportunity for that too. Hope you can make it one morning. My number is 07976 778413 if you have any questions and the website is www.powerpramming.co.uk Best wishes and congratulations on the birth of your daughter. Liz

My son is also in this class and loves it. I cannot believe it is so quiet. There are 3 kids at the moment. You have to book through https://www.sportscourses.org/home/default.aspx
  13. ah ha - thanks for that. Some good ideas on there. Big knickers it is then!
  14. I just realised I need to get presents for my kids teachers. Any ideas that will not break the bank please as I need to get: Class teacher plus teaching assistant Nursery class teacher plus 3 teaching assistants. That makes 6 presents. If you have any ideas they would be very much appreciated. Don't want to get them wine as that can be tricky. Thanks, Liz
  15. Thanks BeccaL will have a look.
  16. Hi Does anyone know where I can get Cat's Cradle strings please? Just bought a book 2nd hand with no strings. I used to tie a knot in a long piece but am sure you can get proper strings without the need to knot. Thanks, Liz
  17. Hi, Congratulations on your new baby. You need to give it at least 10 weeks to recover before exercising. It is a major operation. Please see my website www.powerpramming.co.uk for details of my classes and general post natal exercise advice. All the best, Liz Stuart
  18. Both of my boys wore tights too. They were great as socks always came off.
  19. Hi Pellmel Sorry to hear of your loss. It is a very difficult time especially when it is your first pregnancy. The subject really is a strange one. As Annaj says many, many first pregnancies end in miscarriage (mine did too). I did not tell that many people about it because as you say it seems like a bit of a taboo subject. personally I have no problem speaking to anyone that would listen to about it. Not my mum though as i didn't want her asking me about how i was feeling etc. It was a long time ago now but I can remember feeling very lonely and worried that although I could get pregnant i did not know if I would be able to have a pregnancy go full term. It is over a month since you posted your message so i hope life is getting better for you and you are feeling stronger and more positive. East Dulwich can be a difficult place to be after having a m/c or just trying to start a family. Everywhere you look there seem to be prams and kids. that got to me a bit when i had my first m/c. Personally, I find talking about things like this good as other people also share their experiences. Good luck with everything and i hope you are starting to feel better. Liz x
  20. Thanks for all your replies. Liz
  21. There is a 1 O' Clock club at Clapham Common on Windmill Drive. Open in the afternoon. There is also a nice playground there too. Sure there must be nice 'pay in' places too.

  23. Hiya Just wandering if anyone knows of a localish swimming class for a 3-4 year old that happens in the afternoon please? I am prepared to travel a bit but need to be back in ED for school pick up at 3pm. I'll have a look about myself but often people on here know these things! I never seem to be able to get a straight answer from the staff in the centres themselves. Thanks, Liz
  24. There is one called Magic Moments which is supposed to be lovely. It does half days I think. Do a search on this site as I am sure other people have mentioned it too. I imagine lots of kids go from childminder to school and do fine. Kids are so adaptable. I'll cross my fingers for you about Goodrich. My son goes and it is lovely.
