  2. Thanks, that's an interesting article. xx
  3. Ladywell Fields has a shallow, slow moving stream. xx
  4. The Rising Sun is doing some fine jerk chicken tonight if you wanna slum it in Lewisham for some cred, innit bruv...
  5. You can also ring Dog About Town or Mutterly Gorgeous groomers. They may recognise her if they groom or walk her regularly. xx
  6. I think the age is fine, but it sounds like that wine was not stored properly and got too warm at some point in its life. Aside from the taste, this might also affect (possibly increase) the alcohol content. Take it back for a refund if you can be arsed. If not, down it and give us a minute by minute update of the results! ;-)
  7. Of course a new playground would be great. I wonder if anyone knows what will become of the kids water feature in P Rye, which was installed incorrectly and never repaired. Unfortunately this means that it's completely useless. Would hate to see this same fate fall any new playground. This work needs to be well researched and contracted, so that someone is ultimately responsible for correct installation, safety and repairs. xx
  8. That sounds like you're doing all the right things. Oats in the bath are very soothing. You can put them in a sock and tie a knot. Scrunch the sock under the running bath tap, then let it soak. Be careful because it makes the bath slippery. xx
  9. New blisters form over 3 to 5 days, then scab in another 5 days, with much variability. Scabs may take up to a month to fully heal. Keep skin well moisurised to reduce itch and improve healing. Other symptoms like fever and fatigue should resolve in about a week. If the fever worsens, or if unusual symptoms develop like vomiting, confusion, extreme fatigue, go to the nearest A&E. Also go to the A&E immediately if your LO gets blisters on the eyeball. Seek additional medical advice if blisters appear to have a secondary bacterial infection. Hope your LO is better soon. xx
  10. Calpol (paracetamol) is preferred because of small risk of adverse skin reactions to NSAIDS like ibuprofen in CPox. If your child is normally ok with ibuprofen (doesn't have asthma, or any other contraindications), it's probably fine, but definitely speak to a doctor ASAP, so you know what to do should a reaction occur. Never give aspirin. Search "NHS Choices treatment chickenpox" for more info. You can also bring down a fever with cool packs/cool bath etc, and a paediatric antihistamine can help itch. A registered Pharmacist can assist you further. xx
  11. Where are you on hols? Can get a phone consultation with your GP, or speak to a local Dr?
  12. Does it fade due to sun exposure, or type of pigment used in the ink?

When I was pursuaded to give up thumb suking at 4/5yo, I took up nail biting as a rebound (replacement) behaviour. It has irreversibly damaged the enamel on all my incisors. It's likely that I'll have to have them all capped at some point. :( My brother who never sucked his thumb still had terrible alignment, needed teeth pulled and braces. Unlucky!
  14. A deeper question we should be asking is whether this scheme is being used to address the oversupply of Pharmacists relative to the under-supply of Physicians, and whether that is truly in the best interests of patients.

Put the cash towards extra > cocaine. On second thought, cocaine in London is over-priced rubbish. http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/london-theres-no-cocaine-in-your-cocaine-940 I think these guys had the right idea for an exciting wedding... http://wundergroundmusic.com/wedding-ruined-after-groom-accidentally-serves-guests-ketamine-instead-of-powdered-alcohol/

I'm sure if you agreed a price beforehand, they'd gladly look after the kiddies. Probably cheaper than the price of a babysitter in ED!
  17. Hubbie has fitted many worktops. He suggests bamboo (the 'green' option), which is easy to fit and not expensive. Granite is super hardwearing, but more difficult to fit (and v expensive). Personally I like tiles, but I might be a bit of a weirdo... (DH says they're not hygienic -- since when does he ever clean the worktops?!) Anyhoo, yes you can definitely replace kitchen work surfaces! It's a couple of days labour, plus your materials fees. xx
  18. Shall I cancel the strippers then?

Yes, no brainer, agreed to all the above. But before going to the local councillor, you need to speak to the landlord, as the tenancy may have info about what is/isn't acceptable. Also agreed with others, re drug-taking alone is not necessarily anti-social behaviour. However, if there are minors living in the property, and you strongly suspect that they are being put in jeopardy, then you should report it to social services or the police. In your complaints/enquiries for further info, you need to be able to document specific behaviours that have led to anti-social outcomes on multiple occasion over a period of time. From your post, it's not clear what you mean by "anti-social", so if it's just noise, I tend to agree with Otta that you should just talk to them. If they've been aggressive towards you, then you need to document it. A witness would help. Good luck. xx
  21. That doesn't account for bioavailability though?
  22. Being second guessed by family members is particularly annoying. My MiL was convinced my daughter had a lazy eye (she didn't). I ended up going to the GP just to have some backup! Cough is much harder bc the symptoms are complex. I definitely agree with you that antibiotics are not the solution for every cough, but it can be hard convincing concerned parties otherwise. Your plan sounds good. Hope all is better soon. xx
  23. Most people do seem to prefer back carriers for older toddlers, but I used a front carrier and preferred it even when my daughter was quite heavy. I had a Wilkinet which ties, no buckles. That was way more comfy for me. Everyone is different. Have you thought about trying some different styles at a sling library?
  24. We have a story book with a learning clock built in. You move the hands to the correct time as the story progresses. It helps to understand time in context to events in a series. This type of holistic learning was helpful for my daughter, and she really loves the book.
